“Charlie” District Report August 20, 2013

Offense: Possession of Prohibited Weapons

Case Number: 1308190058

Two people were arrested Monday morning on the 3500 block of Lariat Lane for several warrants for their arrest, possession of prohibited weapons, and possession of controlled substances.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the area of 3500 Lariat for suspicious vehicle call. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle and contacted the passenger, 20-year-old Dennis Stone (05-07-93), who was found to have a switch blade knife. Upon contact with the driver, 20-year-old Christopher Segura (02-03-93), in plain view, was a pair of “brass knuckles”. Upon securing Segura, in plain view from the driver’s window, Officers saw a clear plastic bag of control substance, later identified as cocaine. It was later learned that Christopher Segura had six outstanding warrants from Nueces County. While Officers were conducting an inventory, they located marijuana. Stone and Segura were arrested and taken to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers conducted traffic enforcement, when they stopped 37-year-old Tamela Williams (06-06-76) for a speeding violation. Upon further investigation, she was found to have an active warrant for assault (CR130018734). She was arrested and transported to CDC.

Event: Vehicle Crash

Crash Number: C1306129

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at the 2800 block of Gollihar Road Monday afternoon. The 69-year-old female driver of a white 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan hit her accelerator instead of her brake and then struck a utility box and pole. The woman was transported to MMC with minor injuries. No other person was involved.

Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle

A 34-year-old woman reported to Corpus Christi Police that her wallet was taken from her vehicle by a 24-year-old woman on the 4700 block of Coventry Lane Monday night.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for service in reference to a disturbance complaint. A 34-year-old woman told Officers she was approached by a 29-year-old man at 6:40pm Monday night and distracted while the 24-year-old woman entered the 34-year-old woman’s vehicle and stole a wallet. The 34-year-old woman caught the 24-year-old woman and got her wallet back. No arrests have been made, but police continue to investigate the crime.

A 31-year-old woman, Victoria Saenz (8/15/1982), was arrested Monday night for robbery after she assaulted store employees who confronted her for leaving a store on the 4100 block of Ayers Street without paying for merchandise. The employees (a 48-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman) received minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital by ambulance. The woman attempted to steal about $140 in toiletries.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer stopped a black 2006 Ford Taurus on the 4600 block of Kostoryz Road at 1:43am Tuesday morning for speeding. The Officer discovered there were three 15-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy inside the vehicle and there was no adult. The 15-year-old driver told the Officer he did not have a driver’s license, the vehicle had no insurance, and his parents did not know he was driving the vehicle. All the boys were taken to the TRIP Center for the curfew violations and the car was taken to the city impound lot.

Warrant issued for Cowboy Boot Wearing Shoplifter and Accomplice

Corpus Christi Police Detective S. Cox has obtained warrants for two women involved in the August 14th shoplifting incident at Academy Sporting Goods.

Nola Morales (04/15/86) is wanted for Theft and Evading Arrest, while her accomplice Amanda Gonzalez Macias-Chavez (08/30/86) is wanted for Theft.  Bond was set at $2,500 for each warrant.

Corpus Christi Police Officers investigated a private parking Accident with minor injuries Wednesday morning when they saw a woman running out of the store chased by Academy’s loss prevention. Academy.  An Officer chased the woman when the loss prevention employees yelled that the woman just stole from the store.

The Officer followed until the suspect showed her intent to cross the freeway. At this point the Officer stopped chasing the suspect.  A friend of the suspect was detained, but an affirmative link to the act of theft could not be established. She was identified and released at the scene. The woman crossed the freeway and remains at large.

Police Execute Search Warrant

927 Lexington # 2

Officers from the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Vice Investigations Division executed a search warrant at 927 Lexington # 2 at 4:27pm Thursday afternoon.

Officers seized 6.3 grams of crack cocaine,  1.58 grams of marijuana,  70.24 grams of Promethazine,  1 – Mossberg  12 gauge shotgun,  1 – Springfield 9mm pistol, a gold necklace and $8,032 in cash.

Lafayette Anthony 02/18/81 was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 4700 block of Kosarek Drive for a found child. Upon arrival the Officer located a 2 yr old boy playing outside unattended. The Officer knocked on a few doors and located the boy’s grandmother who was upset that her 2 yr old grandson had gotten out. She explained the 2 yr old recently learned how to unlock the locks. She will have her husband install a new lock that is higher on the door.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Louis Rosales (8/11/1987) for theft after Rosales was kicked out of a bar for his level of intoxication. Rosales went into a bar and bragged about stealing an electrical meter from another bar. The bar staff kicked out Rosales and Corpus Christi Police Officers found Rosales walking on the sidewalk at 3555 South Padre Island Drive. Rosales was arrested for Public Intoxication, Theft, and for Resisting Arrest. The value of the meter was $1,500 dollars.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer found a gray 2008 Chevy HHR stopped on the median at the 3300 block of Saratoga Boulevard at 11:33pm Wednesday night. The Officer had an ambulance check 30-year-old Ashley Nerios (3/4/1983) for any medical condition and then Nerios was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Corpus Christi Police Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect responsible for holding up a Stripes Convience Store employee on Sunday, August 11, 2013.   The clerk gave the robber an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 20 to 25 years of age, 5’5” feet tall, and weighing 170 to 190 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a yellow striped shirt and white shorts and fled in a white Chevrolet truck.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a burglary to a building at the 4300 block of South Padre Island Drive at 7:20 Tuesday morning. A55 year old employee of a business told Officers some unknown person forced open a back door and stole about $1,800 dollars worth of property from the business.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to investigate a complaint of drug use at an apartment at 4040 Schanen Boulevard at 12:56pm Tuesday. The Officers arrested 35-year-old Jesse Garcia (2/19/1978) for Possession of a Controlled Substance after the Officers discovered what they believe to be is crack-cocaine.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer initiated a traffic stop at 12:17am Wednesday morning when a light blue 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis made an improper turn at Kilgore and Gollihar. The vehicle traveled a distance in disregard to the emergency lights from the patrol car. Once the vehicle stopped, the operator, 32-year-old Edgar Pena (10/21/1980) was arrested for evading arrest, driving while license invalid, and fail to maintain proof of financial responsibility.

Police were called to the Dillard’s at La Palmera Mall for a store loss prevention officer who was assaulted when he attempted to stop a shoplifter.

Noe Hernandez (09/15/69) was found passed out in the McDonald’s drive thru.  As the Officer arrived he observed Hernandez driving forward past the restaurant’s pick-up window and park.

Hernandez who appeared intoxicated was administered field and a blood draw was taken.  He was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Corpus Christi Police are asking the public’s assistance to identify the driver of a black Ford Mustang involved in a hit and run accident involving a 30-year-old jogger.

The jogger was crossing the street at 4100 block of Kingston Drive when he was struck by the Mustang as the driver made a left hand turn from the 5500 block of Fresno Drive onto Kinston Drive.  The runner was knocked onto the hood of the Mustang and onto the roadway.  The jogger was not seriously injured and treated at the scene by CCFD Emergency Personnel.

The Texas Star was held up by an armed masked gunman who demanded the money from the register. The robber fled taking an undetermined amount of money with him.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5’3” to 5’5” feet tall and weighing 150 to 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white tennis shoes. Witnesses observed the suspect leave in a dark-colored pick-up truck.
