Patrol Report January 6, 2017

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the Home Depot in reference to a theft that just occurred. The call stated that the suspect were loading items into a tan Jeep. Officers arrived and observed the vehicle attempting to leave the parking lot. Officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the occupants. Officers detained a 34 year old male and a 26 year old female. Officers contacted a loss prevention officer who stated the two suspects were observed going through the store selecting items and hiding them under a blanket inside the store. The loss prevention officer stated that the suspects then went to the vehicle and put the items in the back seat and hid them under a blanket. Officers observed a blanket in the back seat with items wrapped inside.

When officers checked the blanket they observed multiple items, several  that still had the security wiring  on them. The stolen items Totaled $1295.00. It looks as if the suspected thieves were taking home security equipment. The stolen property was returned to the business. Officers arrested Paul Acovio Jr. (1-15-1982) and Johanna Ashley Ramirez (5-22-1990) for theft. Paul was charged with felony theft because of previous theft charges. The vehicle was impounded and both suspects were transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call in the 3700 block of Piedra Creek in reference to suspicious activity. Upon arrival officers  made contact with the complainant. He stated that he observed a male with tattoos on his arms loading property from a foreclosed home into a silver passenger car. The complainant stated that he followed the suspect to an address in the 3700 block of Honey Creek.

Officers went to the area of 3700 Honey Creek to contact the suspect. Officers observed a suspect matching the description and tried to make contact. Officers told the suspect to stop but he refused and ran into the garage and then into the residence. Officers were able to contact the suspect and detain him. In the garage were cabinet doors and drawers. Officers were advised by a resident at Honey Creek that those items were new and they did not recognize them. The witness to the burglary was brought to the scene and positively identified the suspect. Officers arrested Terrell Tavin Wyatt (7-16-1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

 

Police Search for Failed Bank Robbers

Corpus Christi Police are searching for two men who tried to rob a bank at Alameda and Everhart Thursday morning, but were stopped by a security guard on duty at the bank.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the bank at 11:14am Thursday morning and met the security guard who explained that two men in hoodies went to the bank front door but were stopped right away because the hooded men wore masks. The security guard saw that one of the hooded men had a pistol in his hand which was dropped as the two men were confronted by the security guard. The security guard told Officers that the masked men ran around the exterior of the bank and escaped. Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives are now searching for the two men.

A 31 year old woman reported an aggravated robbery at an apartment on Roddfield Road Tuesday morning to Corpus Christi Police.

The 31 year old woman told Police that a 28 year old woman friend and two unknown men hung out in the apartment with the 31 year old woman and  her 32 year old boyfriend.  The 32 year old man told Officers that he and one of the unknown men left to go to the store.  The 32 year old man said when they returned the  offenders pistol whipped him and held the 31 year old woman at gunpoint.  The offenders put duct tape and blankets on the 31 year old woman and the 32 year old man and left with a wallet and a TV.   After the offenders left, the victims were able to get free to call police.  The 31 year old woman provided Officers with the identity of the 28 year old woman and Officers are developing information to identify the two unknown men. No arrests were made as the three suspects left the area before law enforcement arrived.

A 22 year old man reported his handgun stolen from his red 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup while the vehicle was left unattended in a hotel parking lot Tuesday morning. Although the victim thinks he locked the vehicle the Officer did not find any signs of forced entry.

A 51 year old woman reported a burglary to a home on the 500 block of Catalina Place to Corpus Christi Police Monday.

The 51 year old woman told Officers the residence is currently vacant and being remodeled. The 51 year old woman told Officers there was forced entry as the door was kicked in by an unknown person between December 31 at 900am and January 2 at 5pm. The 51 year old woman told Officers furniture and tools valued at $4,000 were taken without the owners consent.

Police Want Help to Solve Academy Yeti Caper

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate three people involved in a theft of Yeti coolers last October from the Academy Sports store located at 5001 South Padre Island Drive.

A store employee reported the thefts to Corpus Christi Police on October 14, 2016 and explained that three unknown people went into the store at about 9:45pm on October 11 and stole yeti coolers valued at $1,600 dollars. The employee explained that two men and a woman entered the store together, then the woman left the store while the two men took Yeti coolers and walked out the back door of the store without paying for the coolers. The three suspects then left the area in a dark, four door car. The three people have not been captured. Corpus Christi Police Detectives have been provided video of the three people and want your help to identify and locate these thieves.

A 52 year old woman reported a theft from a restaurant in Calallen to Corpus Christi Police Thursday.

The 52 year old woman told Officers that cash was taken from the safe overnight. The 52 year old woman explained that there was no forced entry to the building and after having reviewed video surveillance in the store, a masked man opened the door to the building with a key, and took money from the safe. The 52 year old woman told Officers that the suspect had a tattoo on his neck which is similar to a tattoo on an employee. The 52 year old woman told Officers that employee with the similar tattoo had not shown up for work.  Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives are gathering the evidence and information and no arrest has yet been made.

Offense: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

A 32 year old woman reported her maroon 2005 Chevy Suburban stolen from her driveway on the 4700 block of Jean Street to Corpus Christi Police Thursday morning.

The 32 year old woman, who is visiting from Colorado, told Officers she believes she left her keys with the unlocked vehicle unattended overnight and her vehicle was taken by some unknown person without her permission.  A Corpus Christi Police Officer overheard the description of the vehicle over the two way radio and located the vehicle at the Gaslight Square Apartments on the 3100 block of Sunnybrook as the 32 year old woman reported the vehicle stolen. The Officer did not find the keys to the vehicle and had the vehicle sent to the city vehicle impound lot to be processed for evidence. No suspects have yet been identified in this case.

A 51 year old man reported a burglary at his ninth floor office to Corpus Christi Police Thursday afternoon.

The 51 year old man told Officers that he went to the locked Office and did not notice any type of forced entry, but discovered the drawers to his cabinets had been broken open and his papers were out of place. The 51 year old man told Officers the only thing he noticed missing at the time was a cellular telephone valued at $150 dollars.

Corpus Christi Police took seven other burglary reports in the same building on December 28 in which there was no apparent forced entry into the locked offices, but the drawers were broken open and only petty cash was discovered missing. Property Crimes Detectives are evaluating the evidence in order to determine a description of the suspects responsible for the burglaries.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23 year old Anthony Caraker (7/24/93) for aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia after a disturbance at a bar on Chaparral Thursday morning.

with a handgun which he pointed at bar patrons and threatened to shoot them. Caraker left in the Jeep but was spotted by a Corpus Christi Police Officer North bound on Interstate 37 and the exit to State Highway 286 South bound.  The Officer arrested Caraker, impounded the Jeep, and delivered Caraker to the city detention center. No injuries were reported.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 22 year old Demitrius Zepeda (7/22/1994) for aggravated assault related to a shooting at a home on the 2000 block of Coleman Avenue Wednesday night.

A 25 year old man reported the aggravated assault to Corpus Christi Police at 10:19pm and explained to Officers that he was shot in the leg (not a life threatening injury) by a friend, possibly because he owed the friend money.  Officers went to a home on the 2300 block of Ruth and arrested Zepeda for aggravated assault.  Officers delivered Zepeda to the city detention center and the 25 year old man was released from the hospital at around 3:30am.

Offense: Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information (Penal Code Section 32.51) 3rd Degree Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26 year old Robyn Lucke (12/6/1990) for Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information and Possession of a controlled substance after the contraband was discovered on a traffic stop on the 500 block of Louisiana Avenue Thursday morning.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a brown 2001 Chevy Suburban for conducting an unsafe turn and contacted a 49 year old man who was the driver and passengers Kevin Browning 9-23-78 and Robyn Lucke 12-6-90.  The Officers learned that Browning lied about his name, had a warrant (parole-repeat offender forgery-armed/dangerous). The Officer arrested Browning for Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and for the warrant, and then discovered Browning had a handgun. Browning and was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  The Officer then discovered Lucke had a crystal substance which the Officer believes is methamphetamine, a bunch of drivers licenses, social security cards, and checks from several people which was in her purse.  The Officer arrested Lucke for  Fraudulent Possession of identifying information, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Officer released the 49 year old man with the vehicle at the scene and then delivered Browning and Lucke to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a vehicle crash in which a car went through a house on the 5700 block of Old Brownsville Road Wednesday night.

Officers believe a 32 year old man drove his white 2012 Hyundai Sonata home from work at a high rate of speed west on West Point. Officers believe the 32 year old man lost control of his vehicle and exited the roadway.  The vehicle went through two fences and entirely though the house at 5700 Old Brownsville.  The 32 year old man was transported to the hospital for treatment for a laceration to the head.  Although the house received structural damage, no one inside was injured.  Officers believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The 32 year old man was cited for fail to control speed and for failing to yield at a stop sign.

Corpus Christi Police arrested three men on a traffic stop at the 5700 block of Everhart Wednesday night.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at 11:44pm at Bonner and Everhart on a black 2011 Dodge Durango for an inoperable rear license plate light. The Officer met 30 year old Pablo Ruiz (11/16/1986) who was the operator of the vehicle and the Officer learned Ruiz did not have a drivers license. The Officer arrested Ruiz for Driving While License Suspended. The Officer had a 13 year old boy exit the vehicle and the Officer discovered a pistol in the boys pocket. The Officer detained the 13 year old boy for unlawful carrying of a weapon. The Officer contacted a third person in the vehicle, and later learned that the third person was 39 year old Tres Smyth (11/29/1977). Smyth had provided the name of a family member who the Officer knew personally and immediately recognized that name as falsely provided. The Officer arrested Smyth for Failure to Identify

The Officer impounded the vehicle, delivered the 13 year old boy to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center, and then delivered Ruiz and Smyth to the city detention center.

Police Want Help To Identify Optical Store Burglar

Corpus Christi Police want help from the public to identify and locate a man who did a burglary at an Optical store located at 4124 Ayers Street on November 29, 2106.

A 50 year old man reported the burglary to Corpus Christi Police at 3:39am on November 29 after the 50 year old man was alerted by an alarm at the business. The 50 year old man told Officers he found a door damaged and about $1,200 dollars worth of frames missing. The 50 year old man told Officers he had closed circuit video of a man who forced entry into the store and took the frames. The burglar has not been captured and Detectives want help from the public to identify and locate this man.

The suspect is described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 200 pounds, and wore a gray pull over top and bottom at the time of the burglary.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Padre Island at 3:17pm Tuesday afternoon.  The caller told Police the motorcyclist was doing “wheelies” prior to the crash.  The motorcyclist sustained road rash to both arms and hands. Corpus Christi Fire Department Medics arrived on scene and treated the motorcyclist’s wounds (minor injures). The motorcyclist refused transport to the hospital. The motorcycle was towed due to damage. No citations were issued.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a motor vehicle crash which involved a pedestrian on the 1600 block of Nile Road at about 5:40pm Tuesday afternoon.  A silver Honda CRV operated by a 57 year old man exited a private drive and struck a bicyclist on the sidewalk.  The driver of the vehicle could not see the bicyclist because a palm tree obstructing the view.  The 28 year old woman on the bicycle sustained a possible broken leg and was transported to Bay Area for further medical treatment. No citations were issued.

A 41 year old man reported an aggravated assault on the 900 block of Delaine Drive to Corpus Christi Police Wednesday morning. Officers arrived and saw a 39 year old man jump into a white Toyota Tacoma and flee down Delaine nearly striking a Police Patrol unit. Officers discontinued the pursuit after the 39 year old man due to the speed and not knowing a shooting had just occurred. At the residence, The 41 year old man had an obvious injury and told Officers he was shot once in the foot by the 39 year old man who is a family member. Officers believe that 10 gunshots were fired throughout the residence. The 41 year old man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers gathered evidence and information and recovered a pistol that was previously reported stolen from a vehicle burglary in Corpus Christi on  October 3, 2016. The 39 year old man has not been captured, but Police know his identity.

A 26 year old woman reported an armed robbery at a pharmacy at 520 Everhart Road to Corpus Christi Police Tuesday afternoon. The 26 year old woman told Officers that three males who wore hoodies, masks and gloves displayed a handgun and demanded money and drugs. The 26 year old woman told Officers the males fled on foot to Tarpon street, then got into a silver Kia 4 door. No injuries were reported and the males have not been captured.

Need Help Catching this Thief

Police Detectives need your help identifying this thief. The suspects are observed opening the gate and driving in to the fenced off area of the business. The suspect vehicle enters the area and connects to a towable industrial piece of equipment and driving away. The suspects make off with three trailers valued over $30,000. The vehicle appears to be a Ford 4-door pick with a long cargo bed.

Stripes Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this suspect involved in a recent robbery. The suspect is observed on camera entering the Stripes at 1050 Nueces Bay. He waits in line until other customers leave the store before he pulls a knife and robs the store. The suspect takes an unknown amount of money and then flees the store.
