Officers responded to Faith Power Washing for the theft of an African Spurred Exotic Turtle. The caller advised there were five male juveniles involved in the theft.
Upon their arrival, Officers were told by a neighbor the suspects were last seen running towards 4900 Waterfall Street. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the juveniles. The Officers did speak to one of the suspect’s mother who went in search of her son, while Officers returned to contact the victim.
The 43-year-old victim reported to Officers a couple of juvenile males jumped over his fence and when he approached them they fled. During his exploration of his backyard for any damage, the victim discovered one of his two African Spurred Exotic Turtles was missing. The female was found unharmed still in his backyard, but the male turtle valued at $1,500 was stolen.
Officers returned to 4900 Waterfall to find the mother of one the juveniles searching for her son. The mother turned over three of the juveniles including her son.
Further investigation confirmed the juveniles’ involvement in the theft of the turtle along with the identity of the other two suspects. Officers were able to locate the turtle and return it unharmed to the victim.
Four of the five suspects were detained and transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center. The four 12-year-old juveniles were all charged with one count each of Theft which is a State Jail Felony. An 11-year-old juvenile remains outstanding.
