PEDESTRIAN FATALITY ACCIDENT 2900 BALDWIN BLVD.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 6:35pm, officers were dispatched to 2900 block of Baldwin Blvd. in reference to a major traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived and located a male pedestrian in the roadway. Medics transported the 71-year-old male to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators with the Traffic Unit arrived on scene to conduct their investigation. They determined that a pickup was traveling westbound on the 2900 block of Baldwin when the pedestrian traveled north, not in a crosswalk, crossing Baldwin, and was struck by the vehicle.

The driver remained on scene and was not intoxicated.

RECKLESS DRIVING CONTINUES – OFFICERS CONTINUE MAKING ARRESTS

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 8:06pm, officers observed a red passenger car traveling over 90 miles per hour at the 5900 block of Highway 358 westbound.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the 3200 block of Hwy 358.

The driver, 18-year-old Alexander Soto, was arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was impounded. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 9:50pm, officers observed a grey passenger car traveling over 95 miles per hour at the 5900 block of Highway 358 westbound.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the 2400 block of S. Padre Island Drive.

The driver, 20-year-old Andres Hernandez, was arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was impounded. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 12:55am, officers observed a blue passenger car traveling over 110 miles per hour at the 4000 block of Highway 358 eastbound.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the 5400 block of S. Padre Island Drive.

The driver, 20-year-old Jacob Martinez, was arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was impounded. Marijuana was located inside of his vehicle, and he was additionally charged with possession of marijuana. Martinez was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

OFFICERS RESPOND TO SHOOTING AT THE 1600 BLOCK OF GRAHAM ROAD

On Friday, January 3, 2025, at 6:51pm, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Graham Road in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived and spoke with the homeowner who stated an unknown male suspect was in the homeowner’s backyard with a machete in his hand and made several threatening movements towards the homeowner. The homeowner advised he feared for his safety as well as the safety of his family, retrieved a firearm and shot at the suspect who was threatening them. It is unknown if the suspect was shot but the suspect fled from the backyard into the neighboring field.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area where the unknown suspect was last seen. K9 officers, CCPD drone operators and CCFD drone operators conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Local hospitals and emergency rooms were contacted, and the suspect was not located.

SHOOTING AT THE 800 BLOCK OF DABNEY STREET

On Friday, January 3, 2025, at 7pm, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Dabney Street in reference to a shooting with injuries.

Preliminary information is a male suspect arrived at the location, produced a firearm and shot a male victim. The male victim then produced a firearm and shot the suspect. The suspect fled the scene. Medics transported the male victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At 7:13pm, officers were dispatched to a shooting with injuries at the 4800 block of Ayers Street. Contact was made with the other male who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics transported the male to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both males are believed to be 18-20 years of age and are known to each other. This is not a random act of violence.

This is an active investigation, and officers are still on scene conducting their investigation. Additional information will be provided at a later time.

ARREST MADE FOR SHOOTING THAT OCCURRED AT 6500 YORKTOWN BLVD.

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at around 3pm, the CCPD Gang Unit, CCPD Violent Crime Unit, and U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force located wanted subject Juan Medina at the 11900 block of Leopard Street and took him into custody for the outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (bond $200,000).

Medina was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

WARRANT ISSUED FOR SHOOTING AT 6500 YORKTOWN BLVD.

UPDATE:
Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department Criminal Investigation Division have obtained a warrant for Juan Medina for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, bond $200,000. Medina is described as a 22-year-old Hispanic male who stands at 5’5”, weighs approximately 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

On Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 1:32am, officers were dispatched to the 6500 block of Yorktown Blvd. in reference to a large fight with injuries. While officers were enroute to the location, the call upgraded to a shooting with injuries.

Officers arrived and located a 30-year-old male gunshot victim and began providing medical aid to the victim. Medics arrived and transported the male to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers spoke with witnesses and observed video surveillance. A verbal argument between the victim and others ensued, which then turned into a physical altercation between the victim and offender. The fight was broken up and the victim was kicked out of the location. In the parking lot, the victim got into another fight with an unknown subject when the first offender, who had also exited the premises, produced a handgun and shot the victim.

A 37-year-old female, who was not involved in the altercation, was also struck by the gunfire and was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers believe the victim and offender are known to each other and this is not a random act of violence.

OFFICERS ARREST DRIVER FOR RACING ON HIGHWAY

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 12:25am, officers observed a black passenger car traveling over 100 miles per hour at the 4300 block of Highway 358 eastbound.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Everhart/SPID.

The driver, 19-year-old Kaden Perales, was immediately arrested for racing on the highway and his vehicle was impounded. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

ANOTHER ARREST FOR DANGEROUS SPEEDS

On Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:43pm, officers observed a silver passenger car traveling over 100 miles per hour at the 5100 block of Highway 358 westbound. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Kostoryz/SPID.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Dylan Rodriguez, was immediately arrested for racing on the highway and his vehicle was impounded. Rodriguez was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

DANGEROUS SPEED LEADS TO ARREST

On December 28, 2024, at about 12:44 am CCPD officers were in the 4300 block of HWY  358 (EB) when they observed a vehicle traveling on the highway over 100 mph.

Officers were able to follow the vehicle as it exited the highway. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle stopped at Staples and SPID.

The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody without incident and his vehicle was impounded.

The driver, 19-year-old Bryan Castillo, was arrested for racing on the highway. He was transported to the city detention center.
