The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to remind you to always be vigilant when visiting banks and withdrawing funds. It’s always recommended to:

-Go directly to your destination after withdrawing funds

-Never leave money, money envelopes, or other valuables inside your vehicle

-If you see something suspicious, call the police and get to a safe area

Due to the expected rainfall, please watch out for flooding. We want our community to be safe.

Here are some helpful suggestions for the inclement weather:

If possible, please stay home during the heavy rain.

If you must travel, drive slower than usual so that you have time to react to other traffic on the roadway.

Turn on your headlights so that you are visible to other vehicles and pedestrians.

Be aware of possible flooding or moving water in low lying areas. It only takes 1-2 feet of rushing water to sweep away a vehicle.

Some roadways may be closed by barricades. Please do not drive around them as they are there for your safety.

On August 7, 2023, retired Lieutenant Trace Weaver succumbed to complications related to the injuries he sustained in the line of duty.

While serving as a Patrol Shift Supervisor on May 12, 1997, Lieutenant Trace Weaver responded to an emergency call and was exposed to a dangerous chemical. Lt. Weaver retired from the department on June 30, 2003. Lt. Weaver joined the department on August 24, 1981, after serving in the United States Army.

Lt. Weaver is survived by his wife of 40 years, and two sons.

This email will be received by several different sections within the city so that the issue may be addressed. These sections include Corpus Christi Police Department Uniform Patrol Captains, Traffic Safety Section Lieutenants, and Traffic Engineering at city hall.

To report an aggressive driver be sure to list the following information in the email:
•Date
•Time
•Location
•Description of the vehicle
•License plate

Aggressive Driving behaviors would include:
•Speeding
•Following too closely
•Abrupt lane changes
•Distracted driving (cell phone use while driving)
•Failing to signal lane change

CCPD Narcotics & Vice Investigations Division (NVID) Detectives served multiple search warrants on Friday August 4th, concluding a years-long investigation into illegal drug trafficking on the city’s south side. During the operation, Detectives conducted searches of storage units located on the 3200 block of Rodd Field Road and the 6600 block of Yorktown Blvd., along with a residence on the 4000 block of Stadium Drive.

As a result of the searches NVID investigators seized approximately fifteen pounds of hydroponic marijuana, approximately one pound of THC resin, three firearms, and approximately $1,200,000 in cash that Detectives believe are proceeds from drug dealing.

Arrested during the complex and well-coordinated operation were Adam Estes age 27 and Sujie Chang, age 29. Both face felony charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony punishable by from five to ninety-nine years in prison, along with possession of marijuana between five and fifty pounds, a third-degree felony punishable by up to ten years in prison. The money seizure is one of the largest ever in the history of the NVID and is indicative of a large-scale illegal drug distribution operation. Detectives continue to investigate; additional arrests, charges and seizures are possible.

On August 8, 2023, at 2:55 PM Kleberg County Sheriff’s Office units located a vehicle matching that of recently missing Phillip Loveday off county road 2444 in Nueces County, Texas. Multiple agencies have responded to the scene.

A body was located inside of the vehicle. At this time we are waiting on the findings from the medical examiner’s office to complete their investigation. This is still an active investigation.

As a follow-up to the officer involved shooting that occurred on July 30, 2023, the following information has been made available for release. 

The second offender has been processed by our City Detention Center; thus, we are able to release the identity and charges of the offender involved.   

27-year-old Joshua Deleon was medically cleared and was transported to the City Detention Center on August 7, 2023.  Deleon has been charged with one count of Attempted Capital Murder and one count of Murder.  

This is still an active investigation and updates will follow as they are made available for release.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help locating 47 year old Phillip Loveday. Mr. Loveday was last seen on August 2, 2023 around 9:30 a.m. when he left for work from the area of 4900 Cape Vista Ct. His wife became concerned when she received a phone call that he did not show up for work or church. Mr. Loveday is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He was driving a white 2016 Ford F-250 displaying one of these two Texas license plate numbers HTN9773 or PPN1389.
