Police Investigate Kidnapping Attempt Near Elementary School

A 13-year-old girl reported an attempted kidnapping on the 3100 block of Ruth Street to the Corpus Christi Police Wednesday afternoon.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of an attempted kidnapping at 5:09pm Wednesday afternoon. A 13-year-old girl told Officers in the presence of her 34-year-old mother that an unknown man grabbed her on the 3100 block of Ruth Street when the 13-year-old girl walked home from school.  The 13-year-old girl explained to Officers that she passed a house on Ruth Street and a man followed her until they were in front of Zavala Elementary School. The 13-year-old girl told Officers once in front of the school, the man grabbed her from behind and placed his hand over her mouth and another arm around her chest. The 13-year-old girl told Officers she pulled the man’s hand away from her mouth and screamed. The 13-year-old girl told Officers she hit the man several times until the man ran away. The 13-year-old girl told Officers she went to a nearby home to call for help. The 13-year-old girl reported minor injuries related to the event.

Corpus Christi Police Officers went to the school and were able to obtain video and isolate images of the man. The 13-year-old girl described the man as a 40-year-old male about 5 feet 10 inches tall with tattoos, a black shirt, dark shorts and dark shoes. The Officers obtained images that the man got into a dark four door sedan to leave the area. Detectives would now like your help to identify this man.

Police Identify Suspect In Shea Parkway Murder

Corpus Christi Police are searching for 18-year-old Gilbert Ruiz (2/3/1996) who has a warrant for his arrest for Capital Murder related to the homicide on North Shea Parkway that happened on March 25, 2016.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of gunshots on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway a few minutes before 1am on March 25th, 2016.  Officers found 34-year-old Elisabeth Martinez deceased in a vehicle.  An ambulance transported 32-year-old Eric Rodriguez to the hospital where he died on March 28th.   

Corpus Christi Police gathered evidence from an Aggravated Robbery in the 5400 block of Hitching Post Court at about 5pm on the same day as the homicide and Investigators discovered a link between the two scenes.  Investigators from the Robbery/Homicide unit worked around the clock and were able to obtain arrest warrants for two individuals connected to the Aggravated Robbery.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives informed the United States Marshal’s Fugitive and Violent Offender Task Force of the warrants for Aggravated Robbery related to the robbery on the 5400 block of Hitching Post Lane and on March 30th the Task Force were able to locate and arrest 21-year-old Daniel Martinez (1/16/1995) and 18-year-old Micayla Licea (4/11/1997) on the 5900 block of Wooldridge. 

Through further investigation and evaluation of evidence, Detectives were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of 17-year-old Amador Angel Cerna (03/16/99) for his part in the Aggravated Robbery. Cerna has not been captured as of 4:00pm on March 31, 2016.

Detectives were also able to develop enough information to charge Daniel Martinez with the Capital Murder of Elisabeth Martinez and Eric Rodriguez. Detectives were also able to obtain an arrest warrant for Gilbert Ruiz (02/03/96) for Capital Murder. Both Cerna and Ruiz have not been captured and Detectives would like help from the public to locate them. Amador Cerna is wanted for Aggravated Robbery and Gilbert Ruiz is wanted for Capital Murder. Gilbert Ruiz has been known to drive a green Dodge Ram pick-up with the license plate number TX FHR-2230. 

 

If you know where law enforcement can locate Ruiz or Cerna, do not attempt to apprehend them as they are considered armed and dangerous. Police Investigate Homicide on North Shea Parkway Friday Morning

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a homicide on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway Friday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway at a little before one o-clock in the morning and discovered a white four door sedan with two people who appeared to have gunshot wounds. An injured adult male was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of serious head trauma. An adult woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the Officers initiated a homicide investigation.

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives and the Forensics lab technicians responded to gather information and evidence from the crime scene. Detectives have not identified the two victims as of this report so ages are not immediately available. Witnesses have provided information to Detectives, but there is no specific suspect description available for public release until certain details may be verified. Detectives are concerned that there may be witnesses to the event who may not have provided information to Police. The person or persons responsible have not been apprehended and Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate anyone involved.

Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers has a cash reward for the first person to call 888-TIPS (8477) and provides information to locate 25-year-old Justin Wright (4/27/1989) who has several active warrants for his arrest out of Nueces County.

Wright has warrants for his arrest for Aggravated Robbery, Fraudulent Possession of Prescription Medication, Assault, and Kidnapping. Police believe Wright refuses to surrender and may be in hiding with a last known address on the 6200 block of Duke Drive in Corpus Christi. Wright is described as a 25-year-old man who is six feet tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Wright has a scar on his inner right arm, and a tattoo of a bat skull on the top of his back.

Man Robs Bank on Staples Street

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a bank robbery that happened at 4115 Staples Street on Thursday.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a bank robbery at 10:50am at a bank located on Staples and Barry Street. The bank employees told Officers that a man with a dark skin complexion who wore a black ball cap, black jacket, dark jeans and white tennis shoes, went into  the bank and passed a note to the teller which demanded cash. The bank employees told Officers the man did not display a weapon. The bank employees told Officers the teller provided the man with cash and the man left the bank and ran south from Staples through the parking lot toward Golihar.

No injuries were reported and the man remains at large. Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Forensics Lab Technicians arrived at the bank to gather information and evidence. Detectives would now like help from the public to identify and locate the man who robbed the bank.

Corpus Christi Assault Victim from 2006 Dies

Mr. Ricardo Guadiana, 08/24/1980, died near San Antonio on 03/09/2016. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the cause of death was blunt force trauma directly related to the aggravated assault that occurred here in Corpus Christi on 09/27/2006. Three offenders were charged and convicted of aggravated assault for the incident that occurred in the 1700 block of 16th Street.

Police Arrest Man For Criminally Negligent Homicide

The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force arrested 22-year-old Alex Rodriguez (7/15/1993) Monday afternoon on the 1400 block of Devon Drive for a warrant generated by the Corpus Christi Police.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives investigated the death of a four-month old child on the 2600 block of Presa on September 8 2015 in which the child was left unattended in a blue 2006 Ford Fusion during the day. The Nueces County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a grand jury and returned with an indictment. The indictment resulted in an arrest warrant for Rodriguez for Criminally Negligent Homicide and the Marshal’s Task Force arrested Rodriguez on March 21, 2016 at an apartment on Devon Drive. Rodriguez was delivered to the city detention center until he is moved to the Nueces County Jail. Rodriguez was held on a $25,000 dollar bond.

Police Investigate Man’s Death on Capitan Drive

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Investigators are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man on the 2300 block of Capitan Saturday.

Corpus Christi Police responded to Capitan at 9:37am when a person phoned for help for an unconscious man who was outside an apartment on the stairs and appeared in need of medical help. Corpus Christi Fire Department Medical staff determined the man was not alive and Police Officers requested additional resources to evaluate the scene because the man was 39 years old and appeared not to have any obvious medical condition that would have contributed to the death.

The Corpus Christi Police Homicide Investigators, the Police Forensics Lab Technicians, and the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to gather information and evidence. Detectives gathered more information and have not found any obvious indication of cause of death and there was no indication that the death was caused by the criminal action of another person. Detectives are investigating the death as an unattended death which means the person died without observation by a medical physician. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office will evaluate the man to determine a cause of death and certify whether the death was a homicide or not such as an accident or pre-existing medical condition.

Police Investigate Shooting On Rockford Drive

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a shooting at Rockford Drive at Darcey Drive which injured a 39-year-old man Thursday afternoon.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 1:20pm and found a 39-year-old man with an injury to the chest which Officers believed was caused by a gunshot. The 39-year-old man was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. West Oso Elementary was placed on lockdown until about 2pm when officers determined the threat had dissolved. Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Forensics Lab Technicians went to the scene to gather information and evidence. Detectives are working through information to reveal a suspect description, but have not released any description by the time of this report.

Suspect Swipes Cell Phone From Shopping Cart

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying a man that they believe stole a cell phone from the shopping cart of a customer while he was at the Home Depot Store, located at 5041 South Padre Island Drive on February 2.

The customer, who didn’t realize his phone was missing at first, said that the suspect took the phone from his cart when he was not looking and then walked out and got into a grey vehicle.  Employees of the store were able to provide police with video images of the suspect from the stores camera surveillance system.

The suspect appears to be a Hispanic male, twenty to thirty years old with dark hair and glasses.  He was last seen wearing a pink polo shirt and black pants.  He was seen getting into the front passenger seat of an older model four door grey Chrysler 300 that left going east on South Padre Island Drive toward South Staples Street.
