Dive Team Completes Operations

The CCPD Search and Recovery Dive Team concluded operations at the Lakewood Village dive site on Monday afternoon.  The operation was quite lengthy and thorough, but unfortunately no weapon or evidence related to the Treyway homicide was located.

The operation consisted of 17 distinct search patterns across the entire lake, which measured approximately 300 yards by 55 yards.  This entailed a necessary coverage of 148,500 square feet by the team.  This was accomplished by 88 separate dives which were 30 minutes to an hour each in length. Fourteen CCPD divers completed this assignment over a span of seven days.  These dives covered the search area at least twice, so no area of the lake was left unsearched.

The depth of the lake ranged from 9 feet to 23 feet. The water temperature was between 48 and 52 degrees, depending on the depth.  Outside temperatures ranged from the high 30’s to low 60’s and from sunny and clear to a complete downpour.

The team located many objects, to include an automobile, golf cart, lawn tractor, tires and rims, bicycle, skateboard, roller skate, shopping carts, chairs, scrap rebar and pipe, hundreds of bottles and cans, pots and pans, glass containers, several small utensils, and even a complete set of croquet balls found in different areas of the lake.

The team is very confident that the search was complete and thorough.  They have  eliminated the possibility that the weapon was discarded into the lake.

Robbery Suspect Leaves Valentine’s Wishes

Date: 2/15/2015            6:40 AM
Location: 5600 Kostoryz Road
Offense: Aggravated Robbery
P.C. 29.03        First Degree Felony
Case Number: 1502150046

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe is involved in two separate armed robberies that both occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 15. A clerk told officers that a male suspect entered the Stripes Store, located at 5645 Kostoryz Road, and went straight up to the counter, displayed a knife, and demanded cash. When the clerk hesitated, the suspect slammed the knife down on the counter. The clerk then handed the suspect cash from the register.  Before leaving the suspect threw a $1 bill back at the clerk and said “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Officers also believe this same suspect may have been involved in a separate armed robbery 20 minutes prior to this at the Texas Star located at 5636 Weber Road.  At this time there are no images of the suspect at that location but the clerk told officers that the suspect entered the store covering his face and demanding money. The suspect slapped a large knife on the store counter and pointed it at the clerk. Once the suspect had the cash from the register he said “Happy Valentine’s Day” and left out the front door.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the stores security system that shows a male, with a bald head, large build, about 5`8” tall and 180 pounds.

The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Detectives at 886-2840.
