Local Physicians Complain About Attempted Scam

The Corpus Christi Police Department received four complaints from four separate physicians Wednesday about calls from an unknown person who claimed to be involved in a drug cartel and held a family member of the physician captive and demanded a ransom. In each case, the physicians learned their family members were not held captive and the call was determined to be a scam. The Corpus Christi Police Department encourages anyone who receives such a call to contact the Police immediately at 886-2600 to report the information. The Corpus Christi Police Department has not received any valid information about any abduction or injuries in exchange for a ransom.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a report of a stolen trailer at a home in the 5200 block of Fulwell Drive. A 41 year old female told officers that her black 2010 XCEL utility trailer that had an ATV and a Bar B Q pit on it was stolen out of the driveway. The female told officers that the trailer was secured with a lock. Camera images show a white four door truck dragging the trailer away leaving scrape marks on the street. The truck appears to be a Toyota Tundra. Lock Your Car Or This Guy Is Going To Steal Your Stuff

A 34 year old male called police to report that his 2012 Ford F350 truck had been broken into while it was parked in front of his home in the 4700 block of Sierra Blanca Blvd. Camera images show a male approach the truck and open the driver side door and get in. The suspect removes property from the truck and leaves.  Video surveillance also shows the male walk down the street and check other vehicle doors. The suspect looks to be a male in his mid-twenties with a light t-shirt on and shorts. Police Release Images of ATM Theft Suspects

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives released images of two men believed to be responsible for an unauthorized use of a boat and for a theft of an automated teller machine.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business located 3900 block of Laguna Shores Rd. for a theft of an ATM from inside of a business located on a fishing pier. A 62-year-old male reported that when he arrived at work he observed two males on a boat near his business. When he observed that the front door to the marina was open, he walked inside and observed that the ATM was missing and he also noticed that the lock on the front door was missing. When he walked back outside the two males on the boat attempted to flee the scene but the boat bottomed out in the shallow water. The suspects were able to regain control of the boat and left toward marker 37. The boat was later determined to be stolen from a home located on a canal in the same area.

Teague Lane Homicide

OFFENSE: Murder (PC19.02 First Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a shooting call at a townhome located in the 13600 block of Teague Lane. Officers found a 38 year old female standing outside the front door of the townhome. She told them that her 41 year old husband entered the rear door of her townhome armed with a handgun, and shot the victim in the living room. Officers found a 44 year old male with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital where he later died of his injuries. The female told officers that the suspect left out the rear door, and drove away in a blue suburban, possibly going back to his home on a ranch outside of Benavides, Texas. The female also told officers that her two children, a 16 year old female and an 11 year old male were also at the home in Benavides. Corpus Christi Police contacted the Duval County Sheriff’s Department and they responded to the home and secured the children. Officers there also located the suspect, and after a standoff with law enforcement officers from Duval County the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Female Steals Forgotten Purse

A 30 year old female victim reported to police that she was exiting the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 4109 South Staples Street when she left her blue clutch purse in a shopping cart that she was putting away . When she realized she had left it in the cart, she returned to the cart area and noticed the purse was gone. Camera images from the store show a female suspect enter the store and go to the cart area and remove the purse from the basket. The suspect is a white female with blonde hair in a ponytail and blue pants. Detectives Looking For Burglary Suspect

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a business located in the 4200 block of South Alameda St.  A 41 year old male employee told officers that the window on the back door had been broken out and the suspect had reached in through the window and opened the door. Once inside the business, the suspect removed the cash drawer and placed it on the floor. He attempted to open the safe by grabbing the handle. He then took the cash drawer and ran out the back door.

Suspect Images From Sonic Robbery Released

Offense: Aggravated Robbery (PC 29.03 First Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police responded to an armed robbery at the Sonic Drive In located in the 13900 block of Northwest Blvd. A 19 year old employee told officers he was in the back prepping food when he observed a male suspect outside point a handgun at another 16 year old female employee. He intervened and told the suspect that he would give him the money. The suspect pointed the handgun at him and both entered the business. The suspect took money from the cash register and the safe and then left toward the back of the restaurant. The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’10” tall and about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, gloves, black pants and a mask. Police Execute Search Warrant on Sabinas Street

On July 11, 2014 at abut 5:33 p.m., The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Gang Unit, executed a search warrant at 2833 Sabinas. The investigation centered on Henry Velasquez 07/08/85. Velasquez was present with Pedro Cibrian 09/30/87, Johnny Siller 03/30/78, Ralph Villela 09/03/89, Irene Ingram 03/15/84 and two children when the search warrant was executed. As officers entered the house all of the above mentioned subjects were detained without incident.
While searching the residence officers located a large amount of crack which had just been cooked up. The search netted a seizure of 7.57oz of crack valued at approximately $6,750, $2,668 in currency, a scale, several cell phones and five vehicles.
All of the above mentioned subjects were arrested and charged with Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
The children were released to their grandmother.

Looking For Theft Suspect

Corpus Christi Police took a report for a theft of property from the Nurses on Wheels business located at 1015 Santa Fe St. The theft occurred sometime between July 3 and July 5. The suspect’s images were captured by security cameras on the property and they show a male with a black cap, black t-shirt, and a black back pack riding a bicycle.
