Police Investigate Wynwood Drive Homicide

On January 20, 2013 at approximately 2:38pm, Officers from the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Wynwood Drive after receiving a call of an unconscious male. Upon the Officers’ arrival they located a deceased man in a garage apartment.  Corpus Christi Homicide/Robbery Detectives were called to assist and  are currently investigating the 20-year-old man’s death as a homicide.

The motive for the attack has not been established at this time and no suspects have been arrested.  The name of the victim is being with-held pending notification of next-of-kin.

Stolen Truck Used as Getaway Vehicle

Police were called to the Wal-Mart at 6101 Saratoga Boulevard for  two shoplifters who fled in a stolen pick-up truck.  Loss Prevention Officers told Officers they observed a woman tear open a couple of cell phone boxes, remove the security devices, and hide them in her purse.  A man who was accompanying the woman also placed a couple of quarts of motor oil inside the purse.

The man and woman exited the store where loss prevention officers attempted to stop them.  The suspects made a run for it and were able to reach their getaway vehicle.  The woman jumped into the back of the pick-up truck and was hanging over the tailgate in an attempt to hide the license plate from view as it sped away.    Loss Prevention Officers were able to recover the stolen merchandise valued at $189.

The woman is described as a White female, 5’3″ to 5’5″ feet tall and weighing 145 to 155 lbs.  The woman has a small build with a chunky mid-section.  She was last seen wearing black pajama bottoms and white hoodie.  The man is described as a White male, 6′ to 6’4″ feet tall and weighing 250 to 290 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a fur collar.  The couple fled in a light-colored Toyota Tacoma stolen on Friday, January 11, 2013 from the Sutherland’s parking lot, 4041 S. Staples Street.

Service Expert Heating & Air Condition was burglarized overnight when the suspect or suspects cut a hole thru fence and entered the property.  Several of their vehicles were burglarized in which approximately $3,900 in tools, equipment, and copper tubing was taken.

Masked Gunman Robs IBC Bank

Police were called to the IBC Bank at 4622 Everhart Road for a bank robbery.  Officers contacted store employees who advised a Hispanic male walked into the bank armed with a firearm and ordered the bank tellers to turn over their money.  The man took an undetermined amount of money and ran out the bank towards Burney Drive.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 24 to 30 years of age, 5’9” to 5’11” feet tall and weighing 140 to 150 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and the lower portion of his face was covered with a green piece of material.

Police were called to the CCC Group Office for the theft of a $1,600 laptop computer.  They were told a man entered the business supposedly looking for a job, but took off with a laptop computer instead.  He drove off in blue four-door vehicle.

The suspect is described as  a White male, 20 to 30 years of age and weighing 160 to 200 lbs.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie and a baseball cap.

Armed “Cookie Bandit” Robs Deli

Police were called to the Subway located at 4444 Kostoryz for a robbery.  Upon their arrival, Officers contacted two 17-year-old store employees who reported a “customer” entered the store and ordered several cookies.  As one employee placed his order together, the man covered his face with a bandana and pointed a gun at her.

The man demanded the money from the register and the employee complied with his demands.  He then ran out the deli with an undetermined amount of money.  Both employees were uninjured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as a Black man, 22 to 30 years of age, 5’7” to 5’9” feet tall and weighing 170 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants, with a bandana covering his face.

Man Stymied When He Attempts to Rob Local Family Dollar

Police were called to the Family Dollar Store for a robbery in progress.  A store clerk told Officers an armed Hispanic man walked up to the counter as if to purchase some items and then pointed a firearm at her.  The man demanded the money from the register, but the clerk refused to do so and walked away.  The store clerk grabbed a phone and told the robber she was calling police.

The robber approached a nearby clerk and again demanded the money from her register at gunpoint.  The clerk was unable to open the register and the man gave up, leaving the store. No one was injured in the foiled robbery.

Police Arrest Man For Bank Robbery On Leopard Street

                A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Corpus Christi Police Department for a bank robbery at the 11000 block of Leopard Street Wednesday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a bank robbery Wednesday morning at 10:32am. A white man entered the bank and displayed a handgun. The man demanded the bank tellers put cash in a plastic bag. No person was injured in the event. The man then left the bank and ran toward Violet Road.

The man was described as a white man who wore a wig and fake beard with a dark color hooded jacket, blue jeans, and gray tennis shoes. The man ran to a store near Violet Road and drove away in a car. A witness provided police with a license plate of the car.

Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives developed information to identify 30-year-old Glen Sympson (5/21/1982) as responsible for the robbery. Sympson was arrested at his residence and delivered to the city detention center for Aggravated Robbery, a 1st degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Police Arrest 3 Men For Abduction On Braesvalley Dr.

Corpus Christi Police arrested three men at about 4:00am December 30, 2012, for the child abduction from the 6900 block of Braesvalley Drive that happened on December 28, 2012.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives gathered information Saturday night and identified 17-year-old Eric Dimick (10/15/1995), 18-year-old Jacob Musich (5/5/1994), and 18-year-old Colton Visor (4/3/1994) as those responsible for the crime. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for all three for the charge of Aggravated Kidnapping, a 1st degree felony offense punishable by up to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Corpus Christi Police Officers went Visor’s residence at the 5300 block of Spring Brook Drive and arrested Visor and Dimick. Officers arrested Musich at his residence at the 7300 block of Tangled Ridge. The Chevy Suburban which belonged to Musich was impounded. All three men were then delivered to the Corpus Christi city detention center.

The Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating a suspicious death on the 1500 block of Seventh Street that was discovered by the Corpus Christi Fire Department on Wednesday morning.

Corpus Christi Fire Fighters responded to a structure fire at 1529 Seventh Street at 7:16 in the morning on December 19, 2012. Corpus Christi Police went to the area of the 1500 block of Seventh to provide traffic direction on the public rights of way.

The Fire Fighters discovered a person who was not alive and notified the Police Department. Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Arson Investigators arrived to evaluate the conditions.
