Police Seek To Identify Two Men Responsible For Aggravated Assault on Ayers

                A 24-year-old man was stabbed Sunday night and Police would like help from the public to identify and locate those responsible for the crime.

A 24-year-old man went to his vehicle at 10:20pm in the parking lot of El Rincon located at 3206 Ayers Street and was hit from behind when he went to open the truck door. The 24-year-old man said he turned around and saw a Hispanic man who wore a #88 Dallas Cowboys jersey. The 24-year-old man said he realized he was stabbed and fell to the ground. Once on the ground, several other men hit the 24-year-old man.

The men responsible for the assault then left the area last seen travelling east on Blevins Street.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives now want help from the public to identify and locate those responsible for the assault. Detectives have video images of two of the men responsible for this assault.

The man who used the knife and originally contacted the 24-year-old victim is described as a Hispanic man who stands about 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes, and has tattoos on his body and arms and wore a Dallas Cowboys #88 blue jersey with Bryant written on the back.

A second man involved in the assault who was seen playing several games of pool with the man who used the knife is described as a black man who is about 6 feet tall, and wore a blue Houston Texans #56 jersey with Cushing written on the back.

Police Arrest Murder Suspect On Staples Street

A man was found with a fatal injury Saturday at the Sunrise Mall and a 39-year-old man has been detained by police.

Mall security staff discovered a man believed to be 60-65 years of age in the restroom of the mall with an obvious injury. Corpus Christi Police were in very close proximity because of the Holiday Initiative and arrived before any medical assistance. The fast response from the Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers allowed them to develop a description of a person they believed caused the man’s injury.

Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers in the area were able to locate and detain a 39-year-old man on the 5000 block of Staples Street.
An ambulance crew arrived and determined that the man died from his injuries. Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and continue to collect and gather information and evidence.

39-year-old George Viera (8/25/1973) was arrested for Murder, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia and delivered to the city detention center.

Detectives express gratitude to the great work provided by the Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers who quickly responded and apprehended a person believed to be responsible. The Corpus Christi Police Holiday Initiative is a saturation of extra patrol officers in shopping areas who work with security companies and store employees to reduce the risk of crime.

The public is encouraged to report any unusual activity to police immediately so that a quick response will further reduce risk of crime and enhance the ability to quickly capture suspects.

Police Investigate Murder At Lounge On South Water Street

                A 29-year-old man was fatally injured Saturday morning after a disturbance at the Smokin Waves Lounge at 505 S. Water Street.

A crowd met at the Lounge Saturday morning and a disturbance happened among the group. One man from the group walked away from the group, and then presented a pistol and discharged the firearm in the direction of the crowd. The man who discharged the firearm then left in a red Dodge Durango.

One man was injured in event. The injured 29-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he died from the injury.

Police began a search for a Hispanic man between 20-29 years of age who wore a short sleeve button up red plaid shirt and blue jeans and was last seen in a red Dodge Durango truck.

Robbery Suspects “Feeling Lucky” Take Money and Lottery Scratch Off Tickets

Police were called to the Beach Side Market for an armed robbery.  Upon their arrival, Officers contacted the 23-year-old store employee who reported he was assisting a “customer” when another man entered the store and jumped over the counter.  The man shoved the clerk to the floor, forcing him to open the register at knife point.  The suspects took the money in the register, the victim’s wallet, along with several lottery tickets.

The suspects were last seen running to the back of the business towards US 181. The first suspect is described as a Black man, 5’10” to 6’ feet tall and weighing 200 to 220 lbs.  He was armed with a knife and had his face covered.   The second suspect is described as a Black man, 35 to 40 years of age, 5’09” to 5’11” feet tall and weighing 180 lbs.

Wanted Gang Member Arrested After He Flees from Police

Corpus Christi Gang Unit Investigators observed wanted gang member Russell Longoria (12/14/86) driving a Nissan Maxima in the 5800 block of Weber Road.

Officers attempted to pull Longoria over; however, he refused to stop and led Police on a high-speed chase.  Police terminated the pursuit, but continued to search for Longoria.  Officers began looking at known locations where Longoria frequents.  Approximately 15 minutes later, Lt. J. Gray observed Longoria in the 4300 block of Gulfbreeze where he was taken into custody.

Longoria was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center charged with Evading Arrest and three outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($200,000 Bond), Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (No Bond) and Felon in Possession of a Firearm (No Bond).

A warrant had been obtained for Longoria and three other individuals who were involved in planning and assaulting a 21-year-old Corpus Christi man.  The assault stemmed from a work related incident in which two individuals had been fired when one of the men’s wife showed at their place of employment and caused a disturbance.

Gang Unit Officers had previously arrested Rhonda Longoria (11/02/90) during a traffic stop for her involvement in the assault.  She was charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Her young son who was a passenger in the vehicle was released to his aunt.

Police are still looking for the two other known gang members who are also wanted for their involvement in the November 29, 2012 assault.  Richard Longoria (12/01/92) has an outstanding warrant for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($200,000 Bond).

Geronimo (Jeronimo) Sanchez (11/03/80) is also wanted for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($200,000 Bond) and Violation of Bond Conditions~Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon (No Bond).

Lucky Belt Buckle Deflects Bullet

Police contacted a 29-year-old man who told them he standing in his cousin’s front yard when he was confronted by a complete stranger.  The man drove up to where the men were standing and exited his vehicle armed with a gun.

The man fired a couple of shots, striking the victim’s belt buckle.  The victim took off running as the suspect fired at him once more.  The victim was not injured in the shooting and was unable to provide Officers with a description of the shooter or the vehicle he was driving.  The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

Help Needed to Identify this Auto Burglar

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force is asking the public’s assistance in identifying  this auto burglar.  The man in the video surveillance is shown burglarizing a maroon Ford F150 pickup truck and taking a laptop computer valued at $700.

“The image of the suspect is not clear, but his mannerisms are unique,” said Lt. Christopher White, the Task Force supervisor, but “If you run across him or recognize him, give us a call.”

Man Stabbed in Nightclub Parking Lot

Police were called to McCaw’s Nightclub for a stabbing and arrived to find a 32-year-old man being treated by CCFD Emergency Personnel. The victim sustained several stab wounds and taken to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment.

Witnesses told Officers the victim tried to break up a fight involving two Hispanic males when the men began to assault him.  One of the men armed with a knife stabbed the victim in the abdomen.  The men fled in a black Ford F150.

The first suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age, and a goatee.  He was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white t-shirt.   The second suspect is also a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age and last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.

The victim was uncooperative with Officers and possibly facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance after a small package containing Crack Cocaine was found where he was being treated.

Police Seeking Man Involved in Robbery and Shooting

Police contacted a 19-year-old man who reported he was robbed at gunpoint.  The man told Officers he was visiting at a friend’s house when two men walked in through an open door.  The victim was playing Xbox when one of the men put a gun to his head and the other man disconnected the Xbox.  The two men left with the game system and controllers.

Later that day, shortly before 5:00pm, Officers responded to a shooting at 1401 N. Alameda which was tied to the robbery.  The victim and the 27-year-old owner of the Xbox went in search of the suspects. They found the suspect in the parking lot of North Side Manor and an argument ensued when the suspect refused to return the gaming system.   Both men walked away, but were confronted by the suspect and two other men.

The suspect then shot the owner of the Xbox, while the original victim of the robbery was able to escape.  A tenant of the complex heard the gunshot and hid the victim until Police and Emergency Personnel arrived.  The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound to his thigh.
