Police Seek Robber On Hancock Avenue

                Corpus Christi Police Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who robbed a woman on August 23, 2012 at the 800 block of Hancock Avenue.

A 24-year-old woman met a man at Vernon’s Bar. The man said his name was Jerry and convinced the woman to provide him a ride home.  The woman slowed the vehicle near the place Jerry said was his home and then Jerry punched the woman in the face several times and took cash from her purse.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man who wore a white short sleeve t-shirt, jeans, and white shoes.

Man Steals Lawn Care Equipment From Van

Corpus Christi Police ask help from the public to identify and locate the persons responsible for stealing lawn care equipment from a vehicle on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the 200 block of Atlantic Street.

A Hispanic man drove a red Ford Explorer with a Hispanic woman as a passenger on the 200 block of Atlantic at 2:32 pm and stopped next to a silver 1999 Plymouth Voyager. The man got out of the Explorer, threw rocks at the window of the Voyager to break the window. The man then pulled out two line trimmers valued at $125 from the inside of the Voyager. The man got into the Explorer and drove away west on Atlantic.

The man is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 25 years of age who wore a black cap, light blue shirt, and black shorts. The woman passenger is described as a Hispanic female, 20 to 25 years of age who wore her hair in a bun.

Thief Takes Victim’s Keys and Burglarizes Her Vehice

Corpus Christi Police Department Auto Theft Task Force Detecitves would like the public’s assistance in identifying a thief who stole the 18-year-old victim’s car keys while she worked at a local pharmacy.  The man walked into the store with a young boy and video surveillance shows the man grab the keys from behind the check-out counter.

The victim’s vehicle is burglarized and an iPod is taken.  The suspect is described as a thin Hispanic male wearing a white shirt.

Auto Burglars Use Stolen Credit Cards

The Corpus Christi Police Financial Crimes Investigators would like help from the public to identify and locate the individuals involved in credit card abuse.

The Detectives released pictures of four individuals that have bought merchandise with several credit cards that were stolen from several vehicles. The four suspects in these crimes are two men and two women.

The credit cards taken from two cars in Annaville were used at the Wal-Mart at Greenwood and then in several stores on the way out to Padre Island. Police Patrol Officers have collected some of the stolen credit cards on the south side of Corpus Christi.

Family Member Finds Missing 12 Year Old Child

Cameron Hernandez, the 12-year-old child girl reported missing since Tuesday, was found by her aunt at the 1200 block of South Port Avenue Thursday at noon.

The aunt posted flyers after she heard tips from the public that the 12-year-old girl was sighted in the area of Port and Morgan. The aunt then saw the 12-year-old girl walk in the area and then phoned police.

The 12-year-old is safe and taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital as a precaution. The family has been notified and is with the child. Detectives continue to investigate this event and have not provided any conclusion other than the child is safe.

The Corpus Christi Police Department thanks the public for the information provided to locate the child.

Suspect in Several Auto Burglaries Arrested

On 8/28/12, Officers responded to an auto burglary at Seaside Villa Apartment, 1011 Ennis Joslin in which a black Ford pick-up truck was used as the getaway vehicle.  The victim reported a cd player was taken from a Mercury Mountaineer.  On 8/23/12, a blue Mitsubishi Eclipse was also burglarized; taken was a backpack and cosmetology kit.

The Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force was able to explore all criminal activity involving the same vehicle and identify two suspects.  ATTF Detectives were able to link Robert Benavidez (03/23/92) and his girlfriend to the multiple burglaries throughout the city.

Benavidez was arrested at 1122 Shiels by Corpus Christi Police and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force.  He was charged with the outstanding Parole Warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.  The case is ongoing and the Benavidez could face additional charges.

Police Search For Missing 12 Year Old Girl

The Corpus Christi Police Department are searching for a missing 12-year-old child that was last seen on the 4100 block of Brett Street at 7:30 pm on August 28, 2012.

A 28-year-old woman told police her 12-year-old daughter went for a jog inside an apartment complex at 7:30 pm and had not returned home. The 28-year-old woman said she and her daughter had moved to Corpus Christi on July 30, 2012 and had not met many people. The woman said there was no event of discipline or conflict that would have contributed to cause the girl to run away from home.

The 12-year-old girl, Cameron Hernandez, is a Hispanic female, 5 ft. 1 inch tall, 100 pounds, with dyed red hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white tank top shirt, silver basketball shorts, black Nike running shoes, and a camouflaged Camelback water carrier. The 12-year-old girl is enrolled in 6th grade at Tom Browne Middle School.

Three Men Injured During Home Invasion

Officers responded to Bay Area Hospital for a walk-in assault victim who been taken to the hospital by his roommate.  Upon their arrival, Officers found the victim being treated with serious facial and head injuries.   

Further investigation revealed, the three victims were asleep when several masked men entered the residence and began assaulting them.  The men demanded the victims’ money and fled taking one of the victim’s silver 2003 Mercedes CK5. 

The 22-year-old victim was transferred from Bay Area to Spohn Memorial due to the seriousness of his injuries. The other two victims, 22 and 23 years of age were treated by CCFD Emergency Personnel and released.

Information Sought on Trio Using Stolen Credit Card, Possibly Involved in Robbery

A 27-year-old man told police four strangers took his black 2012 Ford Mustang by force at 2:30 am in the morning when he arrived at his grandmother’s house.

The man told Police he parked his car in front of his grandmother’s house where he was approached by four men who attacked him.  The man told Officers he was knocked unconscious and woke up two houses away from where he parked, and his car was gone along with his wallet. The victim’s suffered bruises to his face, a busted lip, and scrapes to his leg.

The victim reported the robbery at 8:30 am. The vehicle was found in the city impound lot by Police Officers as it was involved in a hit and run crash on the 1200 block of Calle San Carlos at 5:40 am.

On 8/10/12, the victim reported his stolen credit card had been used at several local businesses by the woman and two men shown in this store surveillance video.

I am Senior Officer Kirk Stowers and I want your help to solve a Hit and Run Crash that seriously injured a woman with your Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week.

Sunday, August 5th at 8:30 in the evening, a 21 year old woman jogged on Ocean Drive by Palmetto Park. The woman crossed the street at the intersection of Ocean Drive and Poenisch and was then struck by a light colored Sport Utility Vehicle.

The vehicle traveled a block past the crash, stopped for a moment, then sped away toward Ennis Joslin Road without offering any aid to the woman. The woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Police have information from several witnesses, and have obtained video of the actual crash. The suspect vehicle is described as a light colored Chevy Blazer or GMC Jimmy with front end damage.

Investigators now need your help to locate the vehicle and the individual responsible for this Crash.
