Suspect Arrested in Mall Shooting

Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Detectives along with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force served an arrest warrant for Jimmy Salinas (04/12/77) at his residence, 5721 Crestwood.

Homicide/Robbery Detective R. Torres was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Salinas who was involved in the April 19th shooting of a 34-year-old female at the JC Penny’s  parking lot.  The victim and Salinas’ girlfriend were involved in a “feud fight” when he was ordered by his girlfriend to shoot at the victim.  Salinas fired several gunshots at the victim, missing her, but striking her vehicle. 

Upon serving the arrest warrant, Salinas attempted to flee out the back door of his residence, but ran back inside when he observed Officers waiting for him.  Salinas was pursued and quickly apprehended.

He was charged with the outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon.

Help Identify Patio Furniture Thief

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Investigators request the help from the public to identify the person who stole over $1,000 of patio furniture from a local business.

Corpus Christi Police were called to the State Farm Insurance business on the 4900 block of Holly for a complaint of theft. Police were told their patio furniture was taken the previous evening by a male that used a purple Dodge Durango to take the furniture. Police were provided a video surveillance record of the theft.

Man Stole Several Laptop Computers From Wal-Mart In Flour Bluff

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Investigators would like help from the public to gather additional information to identify a man who stole several laptops from the Wal-Mart in Flour Bluff.

Store employees told police that a man forced open a cabinet and removed several laptop computers, then left the store without paying for the computers. Store employees provided police with surveillance camera images of the suspect that took the computers. The man is described as a Hispanic male that wore a red shirt, red pants, and black shoes and is between 20 and 30 years of age. Store Employees believe the man left in a gray 4 door sedan.

This week we are at the 13,900 block of Whitecap at a house under construction. The owner told police that an unknown person broke the rear door to the house to gain entry. Once inside, the person stole the Air Conditioner coil made of copper tube. The estimated cost for this AC coil is $2,500.

This house was targeted by criminals days earlier when the exterior Air Conditioner unit valued at $3,500 was stolen.

Copper thefts have increased nationwide in recent years which results in increased costs for consumers.

Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 4:20 am, Corpus Christi Police investigated a violent crime at an apartment complex in the area of Holly and Weber.

A woman came home from work and watched TV until she went to bed. The woman woke as a man covered her with a blanket and began a struggle. The man then left from the apartment. The woman was injured in the attack. Police discovered a red, white, and black mask left behind by the attacker.

The woman worked with a police Forensic Artist to develop this sketch of the attacker.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 5` 07″ tall, about 155 pounds, short shaggy hair, and was wearing a long sleeve dark colored shirt with blue jeans.

Police Search For Bank Robber On Leopard St. Near Violet Rd.

Corpus Christi Police searched the area of Leopard Street and Violet Road for a bank robber Tuesday afternoon.

A man entered the Prosperity Bank on Leopard and presented a demand note to the teller. The man was described as a white male, mid 20’s to early 30’s in age, he stood 6 feet tall and weighed about 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, unshaven and wore a camouflaged fisherman’s hat, a tan shirt and blue jeans.

The man took money from the teller and ran from the bank. The man was last seen running west on Leopard toward Violet Road. It is not known if the man was armed.

Local Woman Arrested For Organized Retail Theft

A 54-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday at her place of business for Organized Retail Theft.

The Corpus Christi Police Department was made aware on March 9, 2012 that food was routinely stolen from area grocers and then sold to a local retail shop. Police investigators discovered the stolen food was then sold from the retail shop for public consumption.

Police Property Crimes Investigators assisted by HEB Loss Prevention conducted an undercover operation which confirmed the stolen food was sold to Norma’s Fruits and Delights. The Police Investigators then obtained a warrant for arrest for 54-year-old Norma Palacios (8/10/1957). Palacios was arrested at her business on April 11, 2012 and delivered to the city detention center. The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District were on scene to inspect the business after the arrest.

Palacios is recorded to have received between $500 and $1,500 worth of stolen food that was sold for public consumption. Officers recovered $2,715 worth of stolen meat products when Palacios was arrested. The charge is a State Jail Felony punishable by up to 2 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Help Catch A Highway 77 Burglar

Police need additional information to identify a man who stole over $400 worth of property from vehicles at a local car dealership.

Corpus Christi Police were called to investigate a burglary in which the man pictured above took property out of several vehicles at about 5:00am on March 29, 2012. The man is described as a white male, 50-60 years of age that is between 5 ft. 6 inches to 5 ft. 8 inches tall, with gray hair. The man is heavy-set, clean-shaven with short bushy air and he wore a short sleeve shirt and jeans.

The image of the man was taken from area surveillance cameras which recorded this crime.

Officers contacted Capital One Bank employees who reported  a White male handed a bank teller a note demanding money.  The teller fearing for her safety handed the robber an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a light skinned White male with a dirty blond mustache.  He was last seen wearing a dark-colored tee-shirt,khaki-colored cap, and sunglasses.   He was last seen on Weber headed towards Gollihar in a white four door vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet.

Police Search For Bank Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Police are looking for a man that robbed a bank at the 5200 block of South Padre Island Drive Thursday afternoon.

Corpus Christi Police were called to a bank at the 5200 block of S.P.I.D. at about 4:15 pm in reference to money that was taken by force from employees. Police were told there were no injuries and now the police are searching for a white male about 30 years of age that wore a blue and white plaid shirt with blue jeans and had a stubble beard.
