Double Whammy Lands Two in the Slammer

The Narcotics Vice Investigation Division Officers assisted Gang Unit Officers with two high risk search warrants which were served back to back at 5520 Weber # 202B and 405 MacLeod.   The SWAT Team was utilized to gain entry at both locations.

A search of the apartment at 5220 Weber # 202B netted a seizure of 13.53grams of Methamphetamine (ICE),  13.52g of Heroin,  a stolen firearm, and $1200 cash.  Known gang member Juan Dedios DeLaGarza (10/29/79) aka Sir Demon was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  DeLaGarza was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon.  He was additionally charged with three outstanding Nueces County warrants for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Aggravated Robbery, and Directing Activities of Street Gang.

Richard Trevino (11/21/80) was also arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Motion to Revoke Probation.

No one was arrested when the second warrant was served at 405 MacLeod, but Officers did seize $781 in cash, a safe and video surveillance equipment.

Store Owner Arrested After He Shoots, Kills Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Police responded to a robbery at Duve’s Quick Stop.  Upon their arrival, Officers found a 39-year-old man had been shot.  Further investigation revealed the 51-year-old store owner had shot the robbery suspect who was rushed to Spohn Memorial by CCFD Emergency Personnel. 

Officers were notified that the robbery suspect was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival at Spohn Memorial. 

Rodney James Duve (04/03/61) was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  Duve was charged with Murder.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Police Seek Known Gang Member

The Corpus Christi Police Department is searching for 42-year-old Fortunato Guerra (1/9/1971) who violated the terms of his parole. Guerra is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 280 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. The last known address for Guerra was in Flour Bluff. Guerra is a known gang member and considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police Serve Search and Seizure Warrant On Keys Street

Corpus Christi Police Gang Officers with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Vice Investigations Division Officers executed a search warrant at 1713 Keys St. on June 14, 2013 at about 9:50am. During a search of the residence officers located 5 grams of crack cocaine and 3.4 grams of powder cocaine.  Less than 1 gram of marijuana was also located in the residence.   A scale and other drug paraphernalia was also located.  Juan Lucio 10/30/74 was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Second Degree Felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Gang Unit Conducts Warrant Round-up

The Corpus Christi Police Gang Unit conducted a warrant round-up Thursday morning in which six known gang members were arrested. The arrests were at several homes throughout Corpus Christi. The purpose of the round-up was to apply law enforcement on known gang members in this community. Those arrested were:

There were no injuries in the arrests. Seven other individuals were served with arrest warrants who were already incarcerated.

Drugs, Money Seized During Search and Capture of Two Local Gang Members

Corpus Christi Police Department Gang Investigator R. Flores obtained an arrest warrant for known gang member Richard Lara (07/03/76) who was a suspect in the aggravated assault of a 41-year-old man.

On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, Gang Investigators along with members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force went looking for Lara.  Task Force member made entry into a home in the 300 block of Hiawatha.   Once inside they found Richard’s brother, Roland Lara (01/14/78), as well as cocaine and manufacturing paraphernalia.

A search warrant was obtained and Gang Officers seized 84.48 grams of Crack Cocaine, 490.58 grams of Cocaine, $1,067 in cash, manufacturing paraphernalia, and a couple of boxes of ammunition.

Within a few minutes of Officers securing the Hiawatha address; Richard showed up at his brother-in-law’s residence at 2746 Lawton and was taken into custody. No weapons or drugs were found at this residence.

Both brothers were arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  Roland Lara was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, while his brother Richard was charged with the outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault.  His bond was set at $100,000.

CCPD Gang Unit Arrests Subjected Wanted for Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon

Officer from the Corpus Christi Police Departments Gang Unit located and arrested wanted subject Jose Erebia 04/09/94 in connection with a shooting that occurred on 12/08/12 at Gloria Hicks Elementary School that left 3 males injured. The victims were aged 15, 17 and 27 and were on or near the basketball court when the shooting took place. None of the injuries were life threatening.

Wanted Gang Member Arrested After He Flees from Police

Corpus Christi Gang Unit Investigators observed wanted gang member Russell Longoria (12/14/86) driving a Nissan Maxima in the 5800 block of Weber Road.

Officers attempted to pull Longoria over; however, he refused to stop and led Police on a high-speed chase.  Police terminated the pursuit, but continued to search for Longoria.  Officers began looking at known locations where Longoria frequents.  Approximately 15 minutes later, Lt. J. Gray observed Longoria in the 4300 block of Gulfbreeze where he was taken into custody.

Longoria was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center charged with Evading Arrest and three outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($200,000 Bond), Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (No Bond) and Felon in Possession of a Firearm (No Bond).

A warrant had been obtained for Longoria and three other individuals who were involved in planning and assaulting a 21-year-old Corpus Christi man.  The assault stemmed from a work related incident in which two individuals had been fired when one of the men’s wife showed at their place of employment and caused a disturbance.

Gang Unit Officers had previously arrested Rhonda Longoria (11/02/90) during a traffic stop for her involvement in the assault.  She was charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Her young son who was a passenger in the vehicle was released to his aunt.

Police are still looking for the two other known gang members who are also wanted for their involvement in the November 29, 2012 assault.  Richard Longoria (12/01/92) has an outstanding warrant for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($200,000 Bond).

Geronimo (Jeronimo) Sanchez (11/03/80) is also wanted for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($200,000 Bond) and Violation of Bond Conditions~Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon (No Bond).

Two Teens Shot in Drive By

Police were called to a shooting at the 3300 block of Casa Bonita in which a 14-year-old female and 16-year-old male sustained gunshot injuries to their lower extremities.  Both the teens were taken to a local trauma hospital by CCFD Emergency Personnel.

Further investigation revealed the two teenagers were outside when a black four-door vehicle drove by and fired multiple shots at them, striking the victims in the legs.

The Gang Unit Drive-By Response Team responded and they were able to obtain several leads in the investigation.  “At this point the shooting does not appear to be gang related,” said Gang Unit Supervisor Captain D. Mersing.

Police Arrest Three Men For Heroin Distribution On North Naylor Circle

                Three men were arrested Thursday for their involvement with heroin trafficking in the Corpus Christi area. The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigation Division conducted an investigation on a residence in the 3500 block of North Naylor Circle.

The Investigators followed a vehicle from the house on Naylor Circle and then conducted a traffic stop at the 500 block of 19th Street.  The investigators discovered a large amount of cash and heroin. Investigators arrested 31 year old Ruben Soliz (12/2/1980) and 21 year old Brandon Reyes (12/28/1990) for possession of a controlled substance.

Investigators then went to the 3500 North Naylor and served a search warrant and then discovered more narcotics. Investigators arrested 18 year old Anthony Liscano (3/29/1994) at the residence for tampering with evidence.

Investigators will apply for seizure of the cash, two televisions, and a vehicle in connection with this case.
