A 53-year-old man reported to Corpus Christi Police that an unknown person took his green 1998 Chevy Silverado pickup truck without his permission from a store on Leopard Street on Thursday afternoon. The man said he left the keys in the ignition with the engine running while he went inside the store. Police are searching for the truck and believe it was taken by a 31-year-old Hispanic woman who is about 5 feet tall and 250 pounds.

Offense: Deadly Conduct (Penal Code Section 22.05)

A 29-year-old man was arrested Friday for shooting a handgun on the 2900 block of Figueroa Street after two people told his girlfriend to slow her driving. A 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that they saw a gray 2005 Dodge Neon speed past their home several times and the 33-year-old man yelled at the car to slow down. The 33-year-old man said the car stopped, and 29-year-old Joe Limon (12/29/1983) got out of the passenger side of the car and pointed a pistol at the man and woman. The 33-year-old man said Limon got back into the car and discharged several shots before leaving the area. Corpus Christi Police went to the 4600 block of Sharpsburg and located Limon, then arrested Limon for Deadly Conduct. Limon was delivered to the city detention center.

A 71-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person took a green 2004 Chevrolet Venture van from a shopping center at 5967 Williams Drive Thursday morning without permission. The 71-year-old man told Police he left the keys in the ignition and the engine running to his company van while he went inside a business. The 71-year-old man told Police the van was gone from the parking lot when he returned.

A 39-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person used a crow bar to damage two change machines for the automatic car wash systems. Corpus Christi Police are searching for three suspects about 18-20 yrs old in ball caps who pulled up to the business at approximately 0317 hrs. The suspect vehicle is a Dark Blue Ford Explorer with Right Side Mirror Broken and a Sun Roof. It is not yet known if the suspects took anything of value.

A 60-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police Friday morning that an unknown person took his gray 2008 Honda motorcycle from his shed on the 2000 block of 17th Street overnight.

Offense: Burglary of a Habitation (Penal Code Section 30.02)

A 57-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person entered her house on the 2000 block of 17th Street overnight and took property from inside the home without permission. The 57-year-old woman told Police she ordinarily leaves her back door slightly open overnight to allow dogs to go in and out of the house. The 57-year-old woman told Police she woke and saw two men run out the back door. The 57-year-old woman described the men as Hispanic males between the ages of 15-20, both were about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 150 pounds. The 57-year-old woman told Police one suspect wore a red shirt with blue numbers and blue shorts and the other suspect wore a black shirt and shorts. The 57-year-old woman said the two men took food and cigarettes worth about $35 dollars.

Changes In Police Response Go Into Effect October 1

The Corpus Christi Police Department begins the alternative response to minor vehicle crashes, barking dogs, and unruly children calls for service on October 1, 2013.

Corpus Christi Police will have an alternate response to vehicle crashes in which there is no injury that requires ambulance transport and were involved vehicles can be driven away from the scene. Officers will respond to the accident to determine severity of the crash. Drivers will be responsible to complete and submit a Texas Department of Transportation Form CR2 (Official State Form). The form can be accessed online at http://www.txdot.gov/driver/laws/crash-reports.html. Citations will be written for regulatory violations, such as, no driver’s license, expired registration, expired inspection.

The Corpus Christi Police encourages discussion among neighbors about problems with barking dogs. Talk to your neighbors about the problem. If that doesn’t work then document the incident, video tape it, speak to your neighbors about assisting you in making the complaints. Anyone can fill out a “Nuisance Complaint” form found on the City website http://www.cctexas.com/government/city-attorney/prosecutors-office/forms/index. The City Prosecutor’s Office will send out a letter of notice to explain the nuisance on the first offense. A person who would like to file criminal charges for a second offense must make a formal complaint at the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Corpus Christi Police Officers will no longer respond to calls for “unruly children.” Parents should call their respective schools’ attendance officers to respond to children who refuse to attend school. These changes go into effect Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

The Corpus Christi Police Department will no longer respond to unpermitted alarms after November 1, 2013. Those with an alarm permit there will be no change. There is a 30 day grace period to allow everyone to obtain an alarm permit. Officers will not respond to any alarm notification from an alarm site that does not have a valid permit after November 1, unless the alarm notification was a duress alarm, a hold-up alarm, a panic alarm, or reported to a 9-1-1 emergency telephone number by a person other than an alarm company. The Corpus Christi City Ordinance Sec. 3½-2 states that an alarm permit is required. Annual alarm fees are $35 dollars for a residential alarm and $60 dollars for a commercial property. Missing 6-year-old found unhurt

20130924-235130.jpgCorpus Christi Police were called to 1010 Behman for a missing 6-year-old who was last seen in the apartment complex at approximately 6:30pm. An extensive search for Ahlyvian Ray Murphy began shortly after her mother reported her missing.

Over twenty-five officers, detectives, and supervisors along with the assistance of family, friends and neighbors searched for Ahlyvian until she was located at 9:59pm inside her home. Police believe Ahlyvian returned home while everybody searched for her.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted in the search for Ahlyvian.

 

CCPD Neighborhood Parking Enforcement Begins Tomorrow

Beginning Wednesday, September 25, 2013, the Corpus Christi Police Department will conduct a city-wide neighborhood parking enforcement initiative targeting illegally parked vehicles.  The Police Department is continuing with the enhanced parking initiative in response to continuous complaints of illegal parking throughout the city.

Police and Parking Enforcement Officers, as well as beat Officers working during their normal hours will be issuing citations to vehicles parked in a manner that is a violation or a hazard.  Please remember, it is illegal to park vehicles facing the wrong way, over 18” from the curb, or blocking fire hydrants, sidewalks, and driveways.

If you would like to report an abandoned vehicle or a vehicle blocking a driveway please, call the Traffic Safety Office at 361-886-2685 during business hours.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at Matlock Street and Redmond Street Tuesday morning when a white 2006 Nissan Maxima went through a stop sign at an intersection without stopping. The Officer smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle and continued to investigate. The Officer then arrested the driver, 26-year-old Cordero Fuentes (5/13/1987) for Possession of marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fail to Identify as a Fugitive, a Warrant for his arrest, and Driving with an Invalid License.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 50-year-old man for intentionally striking another vehicle on the 600 block of Everhart Road Monday afternoon. A 49-year-old man explained to Corpus Christi Police Officers that he was in a maroon 1994 Chevy pickup at the traffic light at Staples and Everhart at about 4:00pm Monday afternoon. The 49-year-old man said there was a gray 2002 Ford in front of him and a third vehicle in front of the Ford and all waited for the green arrow to allow traffic to turn left onto Everhart. The 49-year-old man said when the green arrow displayed, no vehicle moved, so the 49-year-old man honked the horn to alert the driver of the front vehicle. The 49-year-old man said the vehicles then proceeded through the intersection.

The 49-year-old man said the gray Ford drove beside him and the driver, 50-year-old Kevin Spain (11/19/1962) yelled at the 49-year-old man for honking the horn and then rammed the gray Ford into the Chevy Truck.

A 46-year-old woman in a vehicle behind the two crashed vehicles complained of injury from an abrupt stop after the collision, but was not transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported. Corpus Christi Police then arrested Spain, impounded the gray Ford, and then delivered Spain to the city detention center for Aggravated Assault.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer walked an apartment complex at 12:15pm Thursday at 5002 Gollihar and saw a person he recognized from previous contacts. The Officer discovered the person he saw had an active warrant for arrest for a parole violation and then arrested 32-year-old Carlos Molina (1/4/1981) and delivered Molina to the city detention center.

A 50-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person stole about $800 dollars worth of copper wire from the City’s wastewater lift station on Laguna Shores. The 50-year-old man told Police that the suspect cut the cable to a portable generator and then entered the building by removing bricks. The suspect then entered the building and took about 100 feet of copper wire.

A 59-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person took her trailer and All Terrain Vehicle without permission from her driveway on the 1800 block of Micheline Drive Thursday morning. The 59-year-old woman told Police the trailer and ATV valued at $1,000 dollars were taken from her driveway between 9:00am and 2:00pm Thursday. The trailer was later recovered by the Corpus Christi Police at the 800 block of Egyptian.

The 59-year-old man told Police his trailer and ATV valued at $1,500 dollars were taken from his driveway between 8:15am and 2:15pm Thursday.

A 22-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on the freeway Thursday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash with a pedestrian on the freeway Thursday morning near Airline Road. A 22-year-old man crossed the freeway at about 10:00am and was hit by a silver 2012 Nissan Versa driven by a 50-year-old woman. The 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. The 22-year-old man was issued a citation for crossing where pedestrians are prohibited.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 35-year-old Ricardo Rios (2/27/1978) for burglary of a habitation at the 4300 block of Liana Lane Friday morning. A 45-year-old man called the Corpus Christi Police at about 1:00am when he heard loud noises from a house under construction. Corpus Christi Police arrived to investigate and saw Rios run from the house. The Officers caught Rios and continued to investigate. Officers discovered Rios removed an electric range valued at about $650 dollars from the home. Rios was arrested for burglary of a habitation, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and for fail to identify. Rios was then delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of an aggravated robbery at a restaurant located at 5114 Weber Road Friday morning. A 30-year-old woman told Police she is employed at the restaurant and prepared for the early bird breakfast rush when an unknown man went into the restaurant with his face covered by a hockey mask and demanded money. The 30-year-old woman told Police the man displayed a knife, got cash, and left out the back door. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male armed with a knife, about 20 years of age and wore a black zipper front hoodie and blue Dickie work pants.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a robbery at a convenience store at 2002 Morgan Avenue Thursday night. A 26-year-old man reported to Corpus Christi Police that an unknown man displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The 26-year-old man said the suspect got the money and left the store and ran north on the 1200 block of 18th Street. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man armed with a pistol, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 30 years in age with a buzzed haircut and wore a black shirt with green writing and black pants.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 23-year-old man in a stolen truck on Interstate Highway 37 Thursday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at 1:30am Thursday morning when a green 2007 Ford F-150 was speeding. The Officer discovered the truck was stolen from San Patricio County and arrested 23-year-old Dustin Rhodes (8/10/1990). Rhodes was delivered to the city detention center.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Penal Code Section 49.04)

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 20-year-old woman for Driving While Intoxicated after she was involved in a single vehicle crash Wednesday night at Ayers Street and Holly. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the single vehicle crash that involved a silver 2004 Buick Le Sabre at 10:54pm. The Officers discovered the driver, 20-year-old Brandi Cardona (7/18/1993) was intoxicated. Cardona was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non life-threatening injuries and to collect a specimen of her blood. Cardona was released from the hospital and delivered to the city detention center for Driving While Intoxicated and for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 25-year-old man for causing damage to several vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex Thursday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of reckless driving in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1:45am Thursday morning. The person who made the complaint told Police that a white Dodge drove into parked cars, over curbs, and through the grass. A Corpus Christi Police Officer found a white 2012 Dodge Charger with significant damage which matched the description of the vehicle in the complaint. The Officer arrested the driver, 25-year-old Frank Lopez (11/13/1987) for Reckless Damage, Driving While Intoxicated, and for a Municipal Court warrant.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery (Penal Code Section 29.03)

A 20-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person robbed a store at the 5700 block of Saratoga Boulevard Wednesday night. The 20-year-old employee explained to the Investigators that a white male went into the store and paid for a drink; but then demanded all the money once the register was open. The 20-year-old employee told Police the man pointed a handgun and demanded the cash from the drawer, then left the store and was last seen running east on Saratoga Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a white male; late 20’s in age and stands about 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds, has light brown short hair, unshaven with sleeve tattoos on both arms and a name in old English tattooed on his neck. The suspect wore a blue shirt with black shorts. No arrest has yet been made in this case.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer arrested 33-year-old Roxxanne Rojas (7/25/1980) for Inhalant Abuse after he saw Rojas stagger down the street with a soda can which contained paint. Rojas had paint on her face and had inhaled the fumes of the paint to become intoxicated. Rojas was delivered to the city detention center. Rojas was with 55-year-old Francisco Valdez (2/8/1958) who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Carrying a Prohibited Weapon. Valdez was also delivered to the city detention center.

Police Seek Aggravated Assault Suspect

Corpus Christi Police are searching for a 40-year-old man who assaulted a 33-year-old man with a weapon on the 1300 block of Comanche Street Wednesday morning.

A 40-year-old woman told Police that she was followed by a 40-year-old man while she walked to work at 6:30am Wednesday morning. The 40-year-old woman said the 40-year-old man threatened her with a knife and then she ran from the 40-year-old man. The 40-year-old woman said she heard screams behind her and she saw a 33-year-old man with obvious injuries as the 40-year-old man ran north on the 400 block of North Alameda and then turned west on Lipan Street. The 40-year-old woman was not injured and told Police she is familiar with the 40-year-old man.

The 33-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment for his injuries. Police are searching for a 40-year-old black male who is bald, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds, and wore a white shirt and red shorts last seen at North Alameda Street and Lipan Street.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 23-year-old man for Burglary when he forced entry into a home on the 2900 block of Marguerite Tuesday night and assaulted a 16-year-old boy. Corpus Christi Police responded to a fight on the 2900 block of Marguerite Street and arrested 23-year-old Daniel Perales (7/23/1990) for Burglary. The 16-year-old suffered minor injuries. Perales was delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 21-year-old woman for an unauthorized absence from a correctional facility Wednesday morning after a fight on the 2900 block of Marguerite. Corpus Christi Police listed a 21-year-old woman as a witness to a fight Wednesday morning, but discovered the 21-year-old woman lied about her identity. The Corpus Christi Police Officer discovered the 21-year-old witness was actually 21-year-old Ashley Machuca (5/22/1992) who was a fugitive wanted for Unauthorized Absence From a Correctional Facility. Machuca was arrested and delivered to the city detention center and additionally charged with Fail to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice.

Offense: Warrant of Arrest (Code of Criminal Procedure 15.01)

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 41-year-old woman on the 1100 block of Hazel Drive Tuesday morning for warrants for her arrest while they investigated counterfeit money. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a complaint of counterfeit money passed at a convenience store located 6330 McArdle Road at 11:20am Tuesday morning by a 14-year-old girl. The responding Officers took the 14-year-old girl to her residence on the 1100 block of Hazel Drive to contact the mother of the 14-year-old girl. The Officers saw 41-year-old Corinne Browning (6/30/1972) run into the house once the Officers came into her view. Officers discovered Browning had three active warrants for her arrest and the Officers then found her hiding underneath a bed. The Officers arrested Browning, released the 14-year-old girl to her 42-year-old father and then delivered Browning to the city detention center.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Penal Code Section 49.04)

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash which started a grass fire on the 10900 block of State Highway 361 on Padre Island. A Corpus Christi Police Officer arrested the driver, 41-year-old James Cowan (10/20/1971) for Driving While Intoxicated with a previous conviction. Cowan was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation and to collect a specimen of his blood.  Cowan was then delivered to the city detention center.

Offense: Assault (Penal Code Section 22.01)

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 22-year-old man for an assault at a child day care facility on the 4900 block of Everhart Road Tuesday afternoon. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call for a fight at the facility at 1:07pm and found a 43-year-old man and a 22-year-old man in a fight. The 43-year-old man complied with the Officers commands, but the 22-year-old continued the fight at the opportunity when the 43-year-old attempted to disengage. Officers arrested 22-year-old Adrian Perez (7/24/1991) for Assault. The 43-year-old man told Police that Perez attacked because he was angry that his 18-year-old girlfriend was fired from company. Perez was delivered to the city detention center.

A 13-year-old boy reported to the Corpus Christi Police that his electronic game system was taken from him while he sat at the bus stop at the 1600 block of Morgan Avenue Tuesday morning. The 13-year-old boy explained that he sat at the bus stop when two men sat next to him and started a conversation. The 13-year-old boy said the two men then grabbed his headphones and game system valued at $350 dollars and left. No injuries were reported.

Offense: Burglary of a Habitation (Penal Code Section 30.02)

Case Number: 1309170074

A 35-year-old woman reported a burglary at her residence on the 1600 block of Cambridge was the target of a burglary Tuesday morning. The woman said her house was entered by some unknown person between 10am and 11:30am Tuesday morning and took electronics valued at about $740 dollars from inside the home. A neighbor told Police they saw a Hispanic man about 20 years of age with a medium build who wore a baseball cap and sunglasses near the house with a red 1990’s four door car.

A 17-year-old man reported to Corpus Christi Police that an unknown person stabbed him with a knife at the 2500 block of Fig Street Monday afternoon. The 17-year-old man was transported to the hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries. Police are searching for a Hispanic man about 20 years of age who may be in a black Chevy Tahoe in relation to this event.

A 63-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person entered her barn located at the 1500 block of Ramfield Road sometime between August 31 and September 7, and took 19 saddles valued at $40,000 dollars.

A 40-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person entered a house under construction on the 6100 block of Maximus Drive on Monday morning and took about $3,500 dollars worth of appliances. Police are searching for a Hispanic man who used a white GMC pickup truck to remove the appliances.

Corpus Christi Police Officers went to an apartment at 4101 Brett Street Monday night and arrested 29-year-old Felicita Ramos (1/30/1984) for two warrants of arrest for Intoxicated Assault and for Driving While Intoxicated with two child passengers. Ramos was then delivered to the city detention center. Each warrant had a bond of $10,000.

A 25-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that he was beaten with a club by a store employee Monday night at 4214 Carroll Lane. The 25-year-old man said he went to the drive through window and asked to exchange money for coins. The 25-year-old man said an argument erupted with him and the store clerk and the clerk struck him several times with a wooden club.

Responding Officers went to the store and reviewed video and then arrested the clerk, 29-year-old Nicolas Trevino (12/30/1983) for aggravated assault. Trevino was then delivered to the city detention center.

A 28-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that the store at 3601 Staples Street in which she works was robbed. The 28-year-old woman said a man walked into the store at about 3:40am with a hood over his head. The 28-year-old woman said the man displayed a knife and demanded the money from the register. The man left the store and ran north on the 1000 block of Collins Street. No injuries were reported and Police are searching for a man about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

A 32-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that a man exposed himself in an indecent manner near South Carancahua Street and Park Avenue Monday evening. The 32-year-old woman told Police that she jogged on South Carancuhua Street and saw a Hispanic man open his shorts. The 32-year-old woman told Police the man then got onto a bus and left toward Staples Station. Police are searching for a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds and possibly has a chest tattoo.
