Dive Team Completes Operations

The CCPD Search and Recovery Dive Team concluded operations at the Lakewood Village dive site on Monday afternoon.  The operation was quite lengthy and thorough, but unfortunately no weapon or evidence related to the Treyway homicide was located.

The operation consisted of 17 distinct search patterns across the entire lake, which measured approximately 300 yards by 55 yards.  This entailed a necessary coverage of 148,500 square feet by the team.  This was accomplished by 88 separate dives which were 30 minutes to an hour each in length. Fourteen CCPD divers completed this assignment over a span of seven days.  These dives covered the search area at least twice, so no area of the lake was left unsearched.

The depth of the lake ranged from 9 feet to 23 feet. The water temperature was between 48 and 52 degrees, depending on the depth.  Outside temperatures ranged from the high 30’s to low 60’s and from sunny and clear to a complete downpour.

The team located many objects, to include an automobile, golf cart, lawn tractor, tires and rims, bicycle, skateboard, roller skate, shopping carts, chairs, scrap rebar and pipe, hundreds of bottles and cans, pots and pans, glass containers, several small utensils, and even a complete set of croquet balls found in different areas of the lake.

The team is very confident that the search was complete and thorough.  They have  eliminated the possibility that the weapon was discarded into the lake.
