ARrest IN Recent homicide

Corpus Christi Police Investigators have worked tirelessly to solve a recent murder which occurred November 15, 2020 on the 3100 block of S Port.   

On November 20, 2020 Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for a suspect, identified as 27-year-old Roland Cabrera.

On November 30, 2020 officers located on the 4000 block of Schanen and transported Cabrera to the Corpus Christi Police Department to be interviewed by Detectives.  He was later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.

Cabrera is currently being held on charges of Murder ($1,000,000 Bond).

Holiday Season Safety

With the holiday season upon us the Corpus Christi Police Department would like to pass on some safety tips.

Lock your cars, take your keys and never leave packages visible in your vehicle.
Try to coordinate delivery of packages so that you are home.
Write down serial numbers to valuable items in your house or of new gifts you receive.
Be sure to lock up your bicycle when you travel around the city.
When using a credit or debit card be sure to cover the pin pad when you enter your personal PIN number.
Monitor your banking accounts for any fraudulent activity.

The Exchange Place (Safe Buying and Selling Locations)

The Corpus Christi Police Department has four locations that are monitored 24 hours a day by cameras for citizens to exchange purchased items.  

The Exchange Place is intended to address safety concerns regarding online purchases from websites such as eBay, Trash to Treasures, Craigslist, classified ads, etc. Exchange locations are a best practice among police departments throughout the state and nation.

BEST PRACTICES
The parking lots at the libraries have two designated parking spaces for citizens to exchange merchandise. The locations have 24-hour video surveillance.

As a reminder, for any exchange, remember the following:

Avoid going alone to make an exchange with a stranger. Always bring someone with you.
Avoid giving strangers your personal information, including your address.
Avoid exchanges at night if possible, even in the designated zone.
Avoid remote or out of the way places for exchanges and be careful of persons who insist on secluded locations or exchanges at their home.
Let someone know the time and place of your intended exchange and any information regarding the other person.

NUECES COUNTY WANTED SUBJECT

Nueces County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help to  locate 39-year-old Robert Soliz who has an outstanding warrant for Motion to Revoke (No Bond).

Soliz is described as a 39-year-old male, who stands 5 feet 08 inches tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

VEHICLE OF INTEREST IN RECENT HOMICIDE

Date: 11/27/2020 7:15 P.M.
Location: 7900 block of Grizzley
Incident: Murder
Case Number: 2011270092

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Grizzly for a shooting. 

Upon arrival, officers located two males who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Both males were transported to a local hospital.  One with serious injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers were later notified that the 17-year-old male had succumbed to his injuries. 

Investigators are still actively working on this case and following up on leads. 

At this time, Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives are seeking assistance from the public.  Detectives have obtained surveillance video of a vehicle of interest, that is being described as a black in color sedan.

ARREST MADE IN CITY’S LATEST HOMICIDE

Corpus Christi Police Investigators have worked tirelessly to solve a recent murder which occurred November 18, 2020 on the 5600 block of S Padre Island Drive.

Earlier this week Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for a suspect, identified as 43-year-old Robert Garcia, on an unrelated Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon case.

On November 19, 2020 the U.S. Marshals-led Fugitive Task Force (Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force) located and transported Garcia to the Corpus Christi Police Department to be interviewed by Detectives.  He was later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.

While investigating the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon case, Detectives were also able to ascertain that Garcia was the offender in the above-mentioned murder.   On November 20, 2020, an arrest warrant was petitioned and issued for Murder.   A separate warrant was also secured for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.   

Garcia is currently being held on charges of Murder ($1,000,000 Bond), Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($100,000 Bond) and Felon in Possession of a Firearm ($50,000 Bond).

ARREST MADE FOR ROJO MURDER

Corpus Christi Police Investigators continued their investigation into a recent murder which occurred November 14, 2020 on the 3400 block of Rojo Street.

Detectives were able to identify and obtain an arrest warrant for a suspect, identified as 19-year-old George Malik Henderson.

On November 19, 2020 the U.S. Marshals-led Fugitive Task Force (Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force) located and transported Henderson to the Corpus Christi Police Department to be interviewed by Detectives. He was later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.

Henderson was booked on one warrant for Capital Murder ($1,000,000 Bond).

PERSONS AND VEHICLE OF INTEREST

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives are seeking assistance from the public.  Detectives have obtained still images of three individuals they believe may have some information related to the city’s latest homicide.

At approximately 01:45 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 5600 block of S Padre Island Drive in reference to an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers observed a 56-year-old female with serious injuries, sustained from being shot by an unknown suspect.

Detectives were later informed that the victim succumbed to her injuries. At this time police do not have a suspect in custody but are actively seeking to speak with three persons of interest.  Investigators are also attempting to locate the owner or operator of a vehicle of interest.

This is still an active investigation. OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING – ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASE

As is our practice we are releasing the information for the officers who were involved in the shooting on November 14, 2020.

Three Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is in accordance with current department practice and policy.

Officer Jesus Turrubiates has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 2 years.  Officer Turrubiates is the sole officer who discharged his service weapon.

Officer Jacqueline DeLeon has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 2 years.

Officer Adrian Guerra has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 1 year.

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

Location: 5300 block of Bonham Street
Incident: Officer Involved Shooting
Case Number: 2011140016

At approximately 2:32 am on Saturday, November 14, 2020, Corpus Christi Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Bonham Street for a disturbance in progress, involving a weapon. 

When officers arrived, they attempted to speak to both parties. It was apparent to officers that the female was in distress and as officers attempted to separate her from the offender to check on her welfare the offender confronted the officers with a handgun. As the officers attempted to retreat, the offender discharged his handgun at the officers. One officer returned fire and struck the offender.

The offender retreated into the home and would not communicate further with officers who were attempting to check on his welfare.  The female involved in the disturbance was able to exit the home safely.  

Officers with our Emergency Response Team who were called out to assist, utilized a robotic camera to make entry into the home, at which point they located a 66-year-old male, who had succumbed to his injuries.  A handgun was located near the offender and secured.  

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
