seven men arrested in anti-prostitution sting

An anti-prostitution sting conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Investigations Division Tuesday afternoon resulted in the apprehension of seven men on charges of prostitution, a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and fines up to $2,000.  The men were arrested after they solicited an undercover Corpus Christi Police Department Officer, posing as a prostitute, for sex acts in exchange for money.  The operation targeted north and west side neighborhoods frequented by prostitutes.

One of the offenders was additionally charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.  A separate offender was found to be a Registered Sex Offender.

Although often inaccurately referred to as a “victimless” crime, prostitution is inextricably linked to multiple other crimes including assault, human trafficking, sexual abuse, drug abuse, and the spread of sexually transmitted infectious disease.  Neighborhoods where prostitution is prevalent experience a drastic degradation of the quality of life that citizens expect and deserve.  The Corpus Christi Police Department will continue to collaborate with all government and private entities to combat prostitution and help accomplish our mission of working with the community to reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime and enhance public safety.

NatioNal night out 2020

National Night Out 2020 is set for Oct 6th, but it will look a bit different this year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and with the safety of our community in mind, the Corpus Christi Police Department does not recommend block parties or social gatherings but instead suggests celebrating National Night Out 2020 by:

Decorate Your Front Yard – Display National Night Out or Crime Prevention posters and signs to show support of police and promoting crime prevention.

“Blue Lights” National Night Out – Replace your porch light with a blue bulb or shine a blue light in your front yard as a symbol of solidarity against crime and to show support for the Corpus Christi Police Department and Law Enforcement.

Additionally, the lights on the Harbor Bridge will be blue in support of National Night Out on October 6th.

Drop your photos in the comment section of this post showing the creative ways you are showing unity while still practicing social distancing.
