We invite you to participate in the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Practice Physical Assessment Test (PAT) on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 7:30 a.m.

This event is for those interested in joining our upcoming CCPD 85th Police Academy, which is expected to start in July 2025.

The practice test is a great opportunity to assess your strengths and identify areas for improvement as you prepare for the process ahead.

The test will be held at the Corpus Christi Police Training Center, located at 6902 Yorktown Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX.

VCU Officers continue to crackdown on reckless and racing drivers on Corpus Christi roadways.  

On Saturday at around 8:45pm, 21-year-old Vianney De La Fuente was observed recklessly driving over 105mph on the 4300 block of Hwy 358 eastbound. She was arrested for reckless driving and her vehicle was impounded. 

On Saturday at around 10:23pm, 38-year-old Jose Medina and 37-year-old Alexander Gonzalez were observed racing their vehicles, both traveling over 95mph, on the 4500 block of Hwy 358 westbound. Medina was arrested for racing on highway and his vehicle was impounded. Gonzalez was arrested for racing and unlawful carrying of a weapon and his vehicle was impounded. 

On Sunday at around 1am, 20-year-old Damion Garrity and 19-year-old Christopher Pena were observed racing their vehicles, both traveling over 100mps, on the 4700 block of Hwy 358 westbound. Both were arrested for racing on highway and their vehicles were impounded. 

On Sunday at around 2:20am, 22-year-old Matthew Rodriguez and 23-year-old Fabian Estrada were observed racing their vehicles on the 4900 block of Ayers Street and into the residential neighborhood. Rodriguez was arrested for racing on highway and his vehicle was impounded. Estrada was arrested for racing and unlawful carrying of a weapon and his vehicle was impounded. 

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 1:59am, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were conducting bar closing in the area of Starr/Chaparral when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the Peoples St/Chaparral area.  

Officers quickly converged on the area and witnesses assisted officers in locating the male who was shooting the gun and detained him for their investigation.  

Officers were able to obtain video surveillance and found that the male was involved in a large fight with other bar patrons, ran to his truck that was parked in front of the location, retrieved a handgun and began shooting in the air. Officers searched for victims but did not locate anyone. They were able to locate multiple casings around the truck. During the vehicle inventory, the handgun was located. 

47-year-old Charles Burleson was arrested for deadly conduct, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon and an outstanding Municipal Court warrant. After he was medically cleared at a local hospital for injuries he sustained in the fight, he was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.  

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 8:36pm, officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Weber Road in reference to a major traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

When the officers arrived, they found witnesses providing CPR to the elderly male pedestrian at which time the officers took over until CCFD arrived. Medics transported the male to a local hospital where he passed due to his injuries.

Investigators with the Traffic Unit determined that the pedestrian was crossing Weber Road, westbound, not in a crosswalk, and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound in the right lane. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and had no indications of intoxication.

During the late hours of Thursday night into Friday morning, and again Friday night, CCPD officers conducted numerous traffic stops that resulted in multiple arrests for reckless driving and racing on highway.  

At around 9:30pm on Thursday night, 24-year-old Elijah Copeland was arrested for reckless driving after he was observed driving over 95mph at the 4300 block of Hwy 358 eastbound. 

At around 10:58pm on Thursday night, 24-year-old Anthony Armstrong was arrested for reckless driving after he was observed driving over 100mph at the 4000 block of Hwy 358 eastbound. 

At around 11:39pm on Thursday night, 19-year-old Jacob Valdez was arrested for reckless driving after he was observed driving over 90mph at the 4000 block of Hwy 358 westbound. 

At around 12:30am on Friday morning, 33-year-old Ryan Cabello and 34-year-old Anthony Gutierrez were arrested for racing on highway after they were observed racing each other on the 4300 block of S. Padre Island Drive, both driving over 90mph on the feeder road. Cabello was additionally charged with possession of marijuana. 

At around 9:50pm on Friday night, 38-year-old Miguel Perez was arrested for reckless driving after he was observed driving over 100mph on Hwy 358 eastbound at Everhart. 

At around 10:50pm on Friday night, 20-year-old Joel Silva was arrested for reckless driving after he was observed driving over 100mph on the 4000 block of Hwy 358 eastbound. 

At around 11:40pm on Friday night, 29-year-old Khrystal Garcia was arrested for reckless driving after she was observed driving over 100mph at the 4300 block of Hwy 358 eastbound. She was additionally charged with abandon/endanger child-criminal negligence after two young children were located inside of her vehicle during the traffic stop. The front seat passenger, 31-year-old Celestino Ramirez was arrested for possession of controlled substance in penalty group 1, possession of controlled substance in penalty group 3 and possession of marijuana after officers located illegal narcotics on his person. 

As part of an ongoing focus on quality-of-life issues, an early morning drug raid by CCPD has shut down a problem drug house near Spohn Shoreline.

At approximately 0600 hours, the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Investigations Division, assisted by the CCPD S.W.A.T team, served a search warrant at 907 Elizabeth. This warrant was the culmination of a long-term undercover investigation of the occupants and their involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics in the City of Corpus Christi. The investigation was brought about by neighborhood complaints and was a joint effort between CCPD NVID Detectives, CCPD Violent Crime Unit and Special Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) who collaborated to shut down this neighborhood drug dealer.

During the search of the apartment investigators seized approximately 5.85 lbs of synthetic cannabinoid, 1.25 ounces of crack cocaine, 13.8 ounces of powdered cocaine, 2.25 lbs of marijuana, 2.58 grams of Ecstasy pills, 160 fluid ounces of Promethazine, and 8 grams of THC Edibles along with $7837.00 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug dealing. In addition to the illicit drugs and cash, Officers seized one handgun.

Arrested during the raid were Evaristo Triana Coleman (36), Samantha Leana Flores (35) and Jose Xavier Quintero (23). All three face five felony charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony punishable by from five to ninety-nine years in prison. Coleman was additionally charged with an unrelated warrant for Aggravated Assault.

Narcotics Investigators will continue to pursue leads as a result of this operation and are confident that more arrests and seizures will follow.

On February 27 at about 3:30 am a CCPD officer observed several males breaking into various vehicles in a complex parking lot located in the 5700 block of Timbergate Dr.

The males were seen getting into a vehicle and continued checking vehicle door handles in the lot. The males were also observed breaking into an enclosed trailer.

Back up officers arrived to assist and were able to stop the vehicle. 4 individuals were detained.

Officers were able to recover property and located 2 handguns.

22-year-old Ryan Lopez and 21-year-old Nathaniel Cooper were arrested for burglary of vehicle 2x, criminal trespass, engaging in organized criminal activity, unlawful possession of a criminal instrument.

27-year-old Joshua Carrizales was arrested for burglary of vehicle 2x, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal trespass, engaging in organized criminal activity, and unlawful possession of a criminal instrument, and a warrant.

18-year-old Adam Perez was arrested for burglary of vehicle 2x, unlawful carrying of a weapon, criminal trespass, engaging in organized criminal activity, and unlawful possession of a criminal instrument.

All four males were transported to the city detention center.

On February 27, 2025, at about 4:28 am officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Airline Rd. in reference to a trespasser. The caller stated they had located someone trespassing in the back yard and the person was now in the front yard.

When officers arrived, they located a 41-year-old Hispanic male in the front yard with obvious gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital by medics. Last update on the male was non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were told by the homeowner that he located a male in the back yard and the male went to the front yard. The homeowner gave commands to the trespasser. During the confrontation the homeowner fired several times at the trespasser fearing for his own safety.

There were no arrests made during this incident. This is an ongoing investigation, and the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office for review.

On February 25, 2025, at about 9:10 am officers were dispatched to the 13000 block of SPID in reference to a stolen vehicle. When officers arrived, they contacted the victim who stated an unknown male had approached him, displayed a rifle and took his truck. The suspect was last seen traveling towards Flour Bluff. The victim was not injured.

During the investigation officers were able to locate the vehicle and follow it to a business off SPID. They were able to detain the suspect who took the vehicle earlier. The suspect was positively identified and was arrested for aggravated robbery.

Offender Michael Ryder (42YOA) was transported to the city detention center for booking. The vehicle was released to the owner.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 12:58pm, officers were patrolling the area of 1300 3^rd Street when they observed wanted subject Richard Morin. Morin had an outstanding warrant for burglary of building, $25,000 bond. He was arrested for the warrant and transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at around 10am, CCPD Bike officers were dispatched to the 900 block of S. Staples Street in reference to a burglary not in progress.

Officers spoke with the property owner and obtained video surveillance of the burglary. The male suspect forced entry into the location, stole miscellaneous items and fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not locate him. Approximately eight hours later, the male suspect was located and arrested for outstanding, unrelated Municipal Court warrants.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, Detectives obtained a burglary of building warrant for 41-year-old Richard Morin, bond $25,000. 

CCPD is asking for the public’s help to locate Richard Morin, who is described as a Hispanic male, 5’8″, weighs approximately 200 lbs, has brown hair and brown eyes.
