MISSING ELDERY PERSON: Update


Pilar has been located outside the city limits and is well.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like help from the public to locate missing person Pilar Salazar.

Pilar was reported missing today on February 20, 2025. He was last seen at the Good Samaritan warming center during the overnight/early morning hours.

Pilar is described as a 73-year-old Hispanic male, who stand 5’11”, and weighs 170 pounds, has grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, light grey shoes, and a baseball cap.

TWO ARRESTS MADE IN ASSAULT THAT OCCURRED AT THE 900 BLOCK OF TANCAHUA STREET

Detectives have worked tirelessly in identifying the suspects involved in the aggravated assault of a 36-year-old male victim on Tuesday.  

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Detectives obtained a warrant for 37-year-old Daisy Vela for aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury, bond $75,000. Gang officers located Vela at the 700 block of 15th Street on Wednesday evening where she was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant. Vela was transported to the Main Station to speak with Detectives. Afterwards, she was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Detectives also identified 27-year-old Luis Garcia as the male suspect involved. He, too, was located at the 700 block of 15th Street on Wednesday evening and was arrested for an outstanding, unrelated warrant. He was transported to the Main Station to speak with Detectives. Detectives developed enough probable cause to additionally arrest Garcia for aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury. He was then transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

On February 18, 2025, at 3:45 p.m., Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Tancahua Street in response to an assault. Upon arrival, officers observed Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) medics administering first aid to the male victim, who was approximately thirty-five years of age. The medics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. 

Preliminary information indicates that a male victim and a female were involved in a disturbance. The female departed the scene but subsequently returned to confront the victim. The female suspect departed the scene for a second time and returned with a male suspect. The male victim and the male suspect engaged in a disturbance that escalated into an assault. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim attempted to walk away but subsequently fell to the ground. 

At this juncture, no arrests have been made. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to identify the suspects, ascertain the sequence of events leading up to the assault, and determine whether any weapons were utilized.

JULIANO CARRILLO ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 1:27pm, Corpus Christi Police Department Gang officers along with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested 34-year-old Juliano Carrillo at a residence in the 4700 block of Easter Drive.  

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Carrillo fired upon CCPD officers who were attempting to serve an outstanding warrant on him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred at a residence in the 4700 block of Lansdown Drive, causing one officer to be injured by the gunfire.  

CCPD and USMS worked tirelessly to locate Carrillo and take him into custody safely, ensuring no harm came to officers or civilians. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with a bond set at $50,000.  Carrillo was transported to the Corpus Christi Police Department main station for questioning by detectives. He was then transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A PEACE OFFICER

The Criminal Investigations Division have identified 34-year-old Juliano Carrillo as the suspect who fired upon Corpus Christi Police Officers attempting to serve an arrest warrant on him.  The incident happened on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:12 pm on the 4700 block of Lansdown Drive.  The Criminal Investigations Division is pursuing additional charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Carrillo is still outstanding at this time.

UPDATE: AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A PEACE OFFICER AT THE 4700 BLOCK OF LANSDOWN DRIVE: SUSPECT IDENTIFIED

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:12pm, Corpus Christi Police Officers were attempting to serve a warrant on an adult male for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at a residence on the 4700 block of Lansdown Drive. 

As officers were standing at the door, a single shot was fired from inside the residence towards the officers. One officer sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by CCFD Medics. Officers at the scene immediately called for more assistance, and created distance from the residence until more officers and resources could arrive.

As more officers arrived, officers created a perimeter and utilized drones. Officers with the Hostage Negotiation Team attempted to call out the male who they were attempting to serve the warrant.  After those attempts were unsuccessful, SWAT Operators utilized indoor drones and robots to clear the residence. After a thorough search, the male was not located inside the residence. A continued officer presence will be maintained at the residence as officers secure and serve a search warrant. 


Corpus Christi Police Officers did not return fire.

The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating and have identified the suspect as 34-year-old Juliano Carrillo, date of birth 04/01/1990.  The Criminal Investigations Division is pursuing aggravated assault on a peace officer charges on Carrillo. At this time, this is an isolated incident, and we do not believe there to be a threat to public safety. Carrillo is still outstanding on the original warrant of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Carillo is described as a Hispanic male, stands at 5’6″, weighs approximately 200 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes.

As per CCPD policy, the officer has been placed on administrative leave during this investigation.

UPDATE IN SEARCH FOR BURGLARY SUSPECT

Detectives from the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, along with Officers from the Crime Reduction Unit, have intensified their efforts to identify the suspect responsible for the recent burglaries at the Caspian Apartments, located at 5901 Weber Road.

Over the past several weeks, detectives and officers have been actively engaging with residents, going door-to-door to discuss safety precautions such as locking doors, staying vigilant, and being aware of their surroundings. They have distributed flyers featuring a police sketch and physical description of the suspect. Additionally, they have collaborated with the apartment management team—who have been highly cooperative—to explore ways to enhance security within the complex. As part of these efforts, management granted officers access to search vacant apartments to ensure no one was trespassing.

Meanwhile, patrol officers and the Violent Crimes Unit continue to maintain a strong presence in the area, frequently patrolling the complex to deter criminal activity and ensure residents’ safety.

CCPD needs your help to identify and apprehend this dangerous felony offender. The suspect is described as a dark-complected Hispanic or Black male in his mid-30s (possibly older but looks younger), approximately 5’8″-5’11” with a medium build and deep voice.

The individual depicted in this police sketch is suspected of several recent early morning residential burglaries at the Caspian Apartments. During two of these burglaries, the suspect either attempted or committed sexual assault.

ARREST MADE IN RECENT BURGLARIES

On Friday, February 7, 2025, at around 10:10pm, CCPD officers with the Violent Crimes Unit were searching for a wanted subject involved in two recent burglaries that occurred at the 2700 block of S. Port and the 3500 block of Baldwin Blvd on January 29, 2025. 

CCPD Detectives obtained two warrants for burglary to a building, each with a $30,000 bond, for 19-year-old Isaiah Saldana. VCU officers located Saldana and took him into custody at the 2600 block of Sarita Street. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

MISSING PERSON

Corpus Christi Police Detectives would like help from the public to locate a missing person. 

Matthew Salas was reported missing by family members On February 9, 2025. Matthew was last seen on or about February 6, 2025, around the Oso Turnaround, where he is known to hang out.  

Matthew is described as a 40-year-old Hispanic male who stands 5’6” tall, weighs approximately 160lbs, has black hair and brown eyes. He has a cross tattoo on his right forearm and an “Ethan” tattoo on his chest.
