Three teenage women reported to the Coprus Christi Police damage to their vehicles while they were on a school trip Saturday night. The two 17-year-old women and an 18-year-old woman told Officers the vehicles were parked at the school overnight while they went on a school trip, and when the women arrived back at the parking lot at 9:30am Sunday morning, the windows were damaged. The three women estimated the cost of the damage to total about $3,400. Officers contacted the school staff and the staff said they would review video surveillance to gain images of the suspects in this criminal case.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 20-year-old John Bradburn (12/16/1994) for furnishing alcohol to minors after he hosted a party at the Aspen Heights for over 20 minors to consume alcoholic beverages. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a loud party at 12:18am and found over 20 minors run from a particular apartment. The Officers investigated the apartment and found several people underage with alcoholic beverages. Officers issued citations to two 18-year-old men, a 19-year-old man, and a 20-year-old man for consumption of alcohol by a minor and released them to sober drivers to take them home as they were not residents of Aspen Heights. Officers arrested 20-year-old Ivy Baresh (8/4/1994) for consumption of alcohol by a minor and fail to identify. Officers arrested Bradburn for Furnishing alcohol to minors as he was the only resident of the apartment complex. Officers recorded that all involved in this event were university students.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash at 12:56am Sunday morning at the Oso Bridge in which a black 2011 GMC Sierra pickup struck the guard rail, rolled and ejected the 20-year-old man who operated the truck. An ambulance took the 20-year-old man to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening facial injuries. Officers do not believe the 20-year-old man was intoxicated and there were no other people in the truck when it crashed. Officers took reports for four vehicles which were damaged when they struck debris from the crash. No other injuries were reported.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer arrested 56-year-old Thomas Petreman (5/31/1958) for urinating at a bus bench at Staples by Moore Plaza at 8am Saturday morning. The Corpus Christi Police Officer was on routine patrol and saw Petreman urinating in public, so he stopped to arrest Petreman. The Officer then delivered Petreman to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash on the freeway near the Flour Bluff exit and found a 45 year old male driver intoxicated.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver was traveling east on the freeway when he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet truck and it veered and crashed into the center median wall.  After hitting the wall the vehicle veered back across the freeway, going airborne, and landing on the Oso Bay turnaround below the freeway.

An investigation determined that the driver, Hector Garcia (11/29/1969), was intoxicated.  He was transported to Bay Area Hospital for medical treatment and once that was complete, he was taken to jail.

There were no other vehicles involved and the suspect had no passengers in his truck at the time of the crash.

Man Arrested For Passing Fake Money

Corpus Christi Police responded to a Stripes Store located at 9602 S. Padre Island Drive after the store clerk took a fake ten dollar bill from a customer.

The cashier told officers that a man passed her a ten dollar bill to pay for items at the register.  The cashier saw no hologram on the bill and when she tested it with a counterfeit detector pen the bill was confirmed to be fake.

The clerk called the police and told the man if he wanted the bill back that he would have to file a police report. The suspect waited for police and when they arrived they arrested Thomas L. Genter (08/21/1986) for forgery, a third degree felony offense.

At the city detention center two more counterfeit ten dollar bills were found under the sole of the suspect’s right shoe.

A 22 year old store clerk flagged down a Corpus Christi Police Officer after a man attempted to rob the business where he works with a pocket knife.

The clerk told officers that the suspect came into the store and bought a lottery ticket. He left, but later returned armed with a knife wearing a ski mask. He approached the clerk and said that he was going to “rob the store and they could split the money.” The suspect walked behind the counter with the knife, but then left without taking anything.

The suspect left in an older model gold SUV. The young Hispanic male had an unshaven face, and was wearing a dark color hoodie.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no arrests have been made.

Police Investigate Man Struck by Vehicle in Parking Lot as Possibly Intentional

A woman told Police a 22-year-old man may have been intentionally struck by a vehicle in a parking lot of an apartment complex located at 5835 Everhart Road Wednesday night.

Corpus Christi Police responded to help the 22-year-old man at 9:43pm and saw the man with what Officers described as a significant head injury. An ambulance took the 22-year-old man to the hospital for medical treatment immediately. Officers learned the 22-year-old man was involved in a confrontation with two men at a convenience store at Everhart and Holly. The Officers believe the 22-year-old man left south from the store to the parking lot of the apartment complex. The Officers believe the two other men involved in the confrontation followed the 22-year-old man in a dark blue Toyota possibly a 4-Runner until the woman and her teen-aged child saw the Toyota strike the 22-year-old man. The woman told Officers the Toyota left the scene south on Everhart. No suspects have been apprehended but Officers believe they have good images of the two men. The witnesses were taken to the Corpus Christi Police Head Quarters to provide recorded statements. Officers continue to search for the two men involved in the confrontation. No other injuries or property damage was reported.

Suspect Runs Out Of Store With Rifle

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying a suspect that ran out of the Academy Store, located at 5001 South Padre Island Drive with an AR-15 style  rifle on New Year’s Day.

Witnesses noticed a short young male with a thin build wearing all black and a beanie pulled low on his head in the firearms section of the store.  When a store employee put the Bushmaster .223 caliber M4 rifle down on the counter, the suspect picked it up and acted like he was looking at it, but then quickly ran away with it.

The suspect ran out of the store through the side emergency exit door that led to the parking lot. Witnesses saw the suspect get into a Ford F150 truck with another male.

Store video surveillance captured camera images of the suspect while he was walking through the store, and while he was making his escape.  There is also a very dark image of the parking lot of the store that shows the suspect vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police caught a burglar trying to make his escape on a bicycle from a home he had broken into in the 900 block of Dorothy Drive.

Officers were in the area investigating a call about a burglary when one of the responding officers saw a male riding a bicycle.  When the officer stopped the male on the bike, he saw what turned out to be stolen watches sticking out of the suspect’s pants pocket.

Officers were able to locate the exact home that the suspect had entered through a back bedroom window.

After they confirmed with the 33 year old male homeowner that the watches belonged to him, officers arrested the suspect, Christopher Kirkpatrick (11/21/1990), for burglary.

Police Investigate Shooting On Treyway With Young Victim

The Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating a shooting of an 11-year-old boy at an apartment complex located at 2022 Treyway Terrace Tuesday night.

The Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at about 7pm Tuesday night and discovered a boy, about 11 years of age, with a head injury in which Officers believed was consistent with a gunshot wound. The boy was taken with family to the hospital for treatment. The Officers were told a brief description of what happened from witnesses and saw evidence of the event and believe the injury was not self inflicted, but caused by another person. No other injuries were reported to the Officers. The Officers knocked on neighboring doors and are seeking any information available about this event. Officers have located video cameras in the area of the crime and are working to gain access to view any images captured of the event or the suspects.

So far, Officers have no suspect in custody and the description of the suspect is vague. Witnesses told Officers there was a gunshot, and two men were seen running west from the apartment to a dark car. Witnesses said the car drove away in an unknown direction of travel. The boy, remains in the hospital with what Officers believe is a significant injury.

Lock It or Lose It

Date: 1/2/2015        2:25 PM Location: 5700 Everhart Road Offense: Burglary (PC 30.04       Class A Misdemeanor) Case Number: 1501020055 Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released video surveillance that shows a burglary from a vehicle at a business located at 5701 Everhart Road, The Stripes Store. Store video surveillance shows the female victim in a 2000 purple Volvo sedan pull up next to gas pump number 10. A few seconds later, a white Ford F150 extended cab truck pulls up next to gas pump number 9.   The female victim goes to the passenger side of her car and lets a child out.  The driver of the white truck exits his vehicle and walks into the store with the female and the child. Inside the store, cameras capture the suspect at the counter paying for merchandise. He has short hair, a dark pullover hoodie with orange lettering on the front and orange trim. The suspect is seen exiting the store and walking across the parking lot.  Instead of walking to his truck, he walks to the females parked Volvo, and enters her unsecured driver side door.  The suspect removes a purse from inside the car, and then gets in his truck and leaves. The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to remind citizens of our community to observe this pattern of criminal behavior and protect yourself against it.  We remind you to never leave items in your vehicle, and always lock your car no matter how long you plan on being away from it. A 45 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police to report that his nephew stole his car.

Officers contacted the man who told them that he had picked up his 17 year old nephew on Sunday and brought him to his home to watch the football game. When he woke up the next morning his keys and his 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor were both missing.

Officers are still currently searching for the vehicle, and the nephew could face charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony.
