Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Parkwood Place for a burglary to a vehicle that had just occurred. When officers arrived on Parkwood Place, witnesses there told them that the suspect who had broken into the car was at a home located in the 6000 block of Skyline Drive. When two officers approached the male suspect who was hiding outside of the home between two cars, they were attacked by the suspect. Both officers were hit in the face a couple of times by the suspect, and they all fell into a wooden fence, breaking several planks of wood. Officers were finally able to gain control of the suspect and arrest him. Both officers received bumps, scrapes and bruises, and one officer was taken to Spohn Memorial for an injury to his knee and an elevated heart rate and blood pressure. The 25 year old male suspect was arrested and he also was admitted to the hospital for injuries. The suspect is facing two counts of assault on a peace officer, a third degree felony once he is medically cleared from the hospital. Officers are also investigating his involvement into the burglary to the vehicle that was parked on Parkwood Place.
