Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the Bealls Store located at 3725 Leopard St. for a theft. The manager advised a bald hispanic male left the store without paying for over $150 in merchandise. The manager also believes that a female who was there with the male came into the store to distract employees. There was also another female in a vehicle waiting for the couple. Video images from the stores surveillance cameras show the male who stole the items and the female who was there to help him. Anyone who can identify the individuals responsible for this theft, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. A 27 year old male victim told Corpus Christi Police Officers that a suspect that he knows robbed him at gun point while he was walking home on Leopard St. The victim said he was on Leopard St. near Violet Rd. when a vehicle the suspect was riding in picked him up. The suspect was in the back seat, the victim got in the front passenger seat and the driver was another male that the victim had seen before. The victim said that the back seat suspect was making claims that the victim stilled owed him money and then pulled a black semi-automatic pistol out and pointed it at the victim. The suspect demanded the victim’s wallet and then was taken to his home in the 4200 block of Nolford Place. The suspect made threats to go inside the victim’s house, but left the area when the victim told him there were other people inside. Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

A 51 year old male victim reported that as he pulled into the driveway of his home in the 800 block of N. Omaha Dr. he noticed that the front door was open. He then saw a male run out of the front door and he chased the male on foot but lost him. The victim described the suspect male as being 5`9’ tall, about 170 pounds in his mid-thirties with a short haircut and a mustache. The victim told officers that his home had been ransacked and he found his microwave, and window air conditioner sitting outside near the front door. The victim said the suspect did get away with approximately $75 in various groceries from the kitchen. At this time officers are still investigating this crime and no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 500 block of Carson St. for a traffic accident with injuries. They found a 2007 silver Ford Escape had struck a concrete pillar of a home and the 21 year old female driver inside the vehicle. The female was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was still sitting in the driver`s seat refusing to get out. CCFD EMS arrived and convinced the female to exit her vehicle in order to be treated for some cuts to her face. The female was found to be intoxicated. The crash investigation revealed that the female was attempting to turn from S. Alameda onto Carson St. when she lost control of her vehicle, and it went over a curb, cut across a flower garden and then hit a stucco wall in the garden before striking a cement pillar of the home. Damage to the home was estimated to be over $10,000. The female was taken to the hospital to be treated for a broken ankle.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to an alarm at a business located in the 5300 block of Everhart Rd. and found the front window was broken. Officers found a large rock inside that had been used to break the glass and it appears the suspect went to the cash register to check for money. Damage was estimated to be over $200 for the broken window, and it is unknown if any cash was removed from the register. At this time officers are still investigating this crime and no suspects have been arrested.

A 21 year old male victim called police from an apartment complex located in the 4600 block of Ocean Drive and said he had been stabbed at his residence located in the 6oo block of Louisiana Parkway. The male victim said that a black male, that he knew, approached him and said, “What`s up Smooth?” The male then pulled out a pocket knife and started stabbing the victim. During the assault, the male suspect grabbed the victim’s necklace and bracelet and fled the scene in a silver vehicle. The victim sustained a puncture under his right arm and left arm but refused to be taken to the hospital. Officers could not locate a crime scene on Louisiana Parkway. At this time officers are still investigating this crime and no suspects have been arrested.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Snappy Foods Robber

The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping them locate a wanted person. Rosendo Gonzales (02/13/1996) is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for the robbery of the Snappy Foods Store located at 4617 Ayers St. on July 16.  There is a $50,000 bond set on the warrant.  We ask that anyone with any information on his whereabouts to call Corpus Christi Police at 361-886-2600.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Leopard St. for several businesses that reported damage to their buildings. While nothing at any of the businesses appeared to be stolen all three of the businesses had at least one window broken out. One  business reported that six of the windows of its building had been broken out. The total damage to all three businesses was estimated to be over $1500. At this time, police have not made any arrests in this case.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Saratoga Blvd. and Cimarron Blvd. When officers arrived they found two Jeep Cherokees with heavy front end damage. The crash investigation revealed that a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Alicia Fleischmann (09/27/1973) had turned from Saratoga Blvd onto Cimarron Blvd and during the turn, the female drove her Jeep into the left turn lane striking a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 54 year old female. Officers determined that Ms. Fleischmann was intoxicated and she was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor and also cited for failure to maintain a single lane of travel. The other female driver was taken to the hospital by CCFD EMS with minor injuries.

A 19 year old male victim told officers that he was dropped off at Cole Park around 4 PM and while walking in the park he was approached by a 22 year old male suspect that he knows. The male began accusing the victim of stealing his safe. The victim said that he did not know what the suspect was talking about. The suspect then began striking him in the head and during the assault, the suspect forcefully took the victims necklace which had two rings on it and his watch. The suspect left in a tan colored SUV. The victim sustained minor injuries to his head, but declined to be taken to the hospital. Corpus Christi Police Detectives continue to investigate this case and no arrests have been made.

A 28 year old female reported to Corpus Christi Police that she was assaulted by her boyfriend of several months Jonas Ventura-Garcia (09/29/1981). The victim told officers she was choked by the male inside her apartment and also stated that she had a knife put to her stomach and the male threatened to stab her. The female said that the male arrived home and a verbal argument began over why the female had been out earlier. The verbal disturbance turned physical when the female was thrown on the couch and the male began to choke her. The male then pull out a pocket knife that he was carrying and pointed the blade at her abdomen. The victim declined EMS attention at the scene and the suspect was arrested aggravated assault, a second degree felony.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a stabbing at a business located in the 10500 block of S. Padre Island Drive and found a 26 year old male victim with a stab wound to his arm. The victim told officers he was walking in front of the business when he was confronted by Brian Williams (04/10/1974) who yelled out at him and when he turned the suspect stabbed him with a broken beer bottle on the left arm once and then once on the left side of the face. The suspect then ran from the location and was later located by officers hiding behind a grocery store just down the street. The victim was transported to the hospital and the suspect was taken to the City Detention Center and charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a suspicious person call at a trailer park located in the 5900 block of Ayers Street and found Eric Garza (09/04/1980) crouching behind a vehicle that was parked in front of one of the trailers. When officers contacted the suspect, and checked the area where the suspect had been hiding they located a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine on the ground. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony and issued a criminal trespass warning for the property.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call about a female who had kicked in a door and was causing damage to a motel room located in the 9400 block of S. Padre Island Dr.  Officers arrived and saw that the female had picked up a television and had thrown it to the ground and had pulled off the front cover of the air conditioning unit and she threw it at the officer as he entered the room. The cover missed the officer but hit the front window to the room and shattered it. The officer placed Christina Richards (10/17/1977) under arrest and found out she had force her way into the hotel room after she and a male friend had got into a verbal argument outside.  The suspect female was kicking and banging on the door trying to get in and when they did not open the door for her, she picked up a large butcher knife that was on a table outside and began stabbing at the door and continued to kick it until she finally forced it open. The female entered the room with the knife and another male attempted to step in front of her to try to block her from going after anyone. The female made threats while she had the knife in her hand and forced her way pass him and went into the bathroom where she thought the other male was hiding.  The male told officers the female stabbed the door with such force that it broke the handle off the knife. The male that the female was upset with was never contacted as he had left the area prior to police arrival. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony for making threats with the knife, and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor for damaging the motel room.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to Northwest Hospital for a walk in shooting victim. Officers contacted a 25 year old male who said he was fishing at Labonte Park on the Nueces River when he saw a large alligator gar. He ran to his 2011 Dodge Challenger and got a handgun and somehow shot himself in the hand. Officers advised that the victim appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was treated for his injured hand and released.

Corpus Christi Police, Fire and EMS responded to a crash at the intersection of Airline Rd. and Wooldridge Rd. The crash investigation revealed that a 2012 red Jeep was traveling north on Airline Rd. when a 2007 Nissan Sentra sedan, driven by a 21 year old female ran a red light while traveling east on Wooldridge Rd. The sedan struck the Jeep in the driver’s side door and the force of the impact caused the Jeep to roll three times. The 28 year old pregnant female and a 4 year old male in the Jeep were both transported to a hospital by CCFD EMS for injuries. The driver of the Nissan was issued a citation for running the red light, and her vehicle was impounded because she did not have liability insurance.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were looking for wanted person, Rolando Avalos (09/15/1974), at a home in the 2400 block of Cleo St. when they saw him through a window in the back bedroom. As officers made entry into the home the wanted male came out the window and attempted to run past two officers. The male resisted arrest and there was a struggle on the ground with the male and the two officers. The officers gained control of the male and were escorting him back to the police unit when he pushed off the patrol unit with his body and he was able to break free and take off running on foot. After a short foot pursuit, one of the officers was able to catch up to him. The male continued to resist arrest and caused the officer to fall to the ground and strike her head on the pavement. While the officer was still on the ground, the male violently kicked the officer in her side and back. Other officers arrived and after another brief struggle they were able to take the suspect into custody. CCFD EMS responded to the scene to treat the injured officer. The suspect was charged with the four original warrants he had outstanding for his arrest as well as evading arrest on foot, a Class A misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor, and assault on a peace office, a third degree felony.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers responding to an emergency call were taken to the hospital after the patrol car they were in was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Port Ave. and Tarlton St. The crash investigation revealed that the officers were traveling south on Port Ave. when they were struck by a 2001 Buick sedan going west on Tarlton St. The Buick was driven by an 18 year old female who also had three other passengers in her car. The female was issued a traffic citation for fail to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, and no driver license.  No one in the Buick was injured. The officers were treated and released.

Police Seize Drugs and Weapons on Teak Street

August 1, 2014, at 6:25am, the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Investigators with the assistance of the SWAT team executed a search warrant at 4401 Teak.  The search resulted in the seizure if 30 weapons of various caliber firearms, 19 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of powder cocaine, and a vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Robert Garza (10/1/1987) and 25-year-old Mallaurie Lopez (6/8/1989). Both were charged with Man/Del C.S. PG-1 (2F) and processed at the city detention center.  Investigators are in the process of collaborating with ATF on further charges for the weapons.

The operation is the conclusion of an investigation brought about from citizen complaints in the area.

Offense: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm By a Felon (Penal Code Section 46.04) 3rd Degree Felony

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at the 4100 block of Greenwood Drive at 10:20pm Thursday night when she observed a gold 2006 Ford Fusion drive without the headlights illuminated. The Officer discovered the car was operated by a 31-year-old man and had a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy as passengers. The Officer discovered possible synthetic narcotics, a pistol and brass knuckles in the vehicle. The Officer arrested 31-year-old Jose Esquivel (5/17/1983) for unlawful possession of a firearm and for possession of a prohibited weapon (the brass knuckles). The Officer then took the 16-year-old and the 15-year-old boys into custody for unlawful carrying of a weapon and for possession of a prohibited weapon. The Officer impounded the car and delivered Esquivel to the city detention center. The Officer also delivered the two boys to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center. The possible synthetic narcotics were placed into evidence for testing.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 19-year-old woman for driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car into a pole in front of a seafood restaurant located at 5825 South Padre Island Drive Friday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 12:36am and found a silver 2004 Honda Accord had left the road and struck a pole which held a sign to the restaurant. The Officer discovered evidence that 19-year-old Hannah Cieslik (8/5/1994) was intoxicated when drove the vehicle at the time of the crash. The Officer arrested Cieslik for Driving While Intoxicated and impounded the car. The Officer took Cieslik to the hospital for a medical evaluation and then delivered her to the city detention center.

A 16-year-old girl reported a robbery at a restaurant located at 1610 South Padre Island Drive to the Corpus Christi Police Thursday night. The 16-year-old girl explained to Officers that she worked the drive through window when a man in a car handed the 16-year-old girl a note through the window. The 16-year-old girl told Officers the note demanded all the cash in the register. The 16-year-old girl told Officers she immediately left the window area to flee any type of attack. The 16-year-old girl told Officers the man left without getting any money. Officers took the note for examination and continue to search for the suspect in this case. The 16-year-old girl described the suspect as an 18-year-old bald male with medium brown skin.

A 22-year-old man reported an aggravated robbery at Carroll Lane at Cresthill Drive to Corpus Christi Police Thursday night. The 22-year-old man told Officers he ran south on Carroll Lane and passed a man who asked for the time. The 22-year-old man told Officers he, the 22-year-old man, pulled out his phone to check the time and the other man grabbed the phone in an attempt to steal the phone. The 22-year-old man told Officers he struggled with the unknown man for the phone and the unknown man displayed a knife and stabbed the 22-year-old man in the leg. The 22-year-old man told Officers the unknown man ran away without gaining anything of value. Officers continue to search for the unknown man. The 22-year-old man described the suspect as a male with medium brown colored skin, with a shaved head, mustache, and a tattoo on the left side of his face near the eye.

Police Assist U.S. Marshal’s Office to Apprehend Fugitive

The Corpus Christi Police Department assisted the United States Marshal’s Service to apprehend a fugitive on the 5000 block of Alameda Street Thursday morning. The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitive and Violent Offenders Task Force saw 36-year-old John Douglas Houston (2/15/1978) in a vehicle at 10:28am and knew Houston was a fugitive and likely to evade arrest. The Marshal’s requested assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Department. Houston stopped the vehicle and ran from the vehicle on foot. A passenger also ran from the vehicle in another direction. Houston was captured and the Marshal’s Service processed Houston as a fugitive. The second person who ran was not apprehended. Houston was delivered to the city detention center.
