Suspect Vehicle involved in burglaries of homes under construction

Sometime between  6 PM on April 23 and 7 AM May 2  suspects entered a home in the 2900 block of Alta Gigoniella that is under construction through a dinning room window with a pry tool causing damage to the window frame and breaking the glass. While inside the suspects removed an oven and unsuccessfully attempted to remove the GE microwave unit.  The subjects exited the house through the front door. Sometime between 11 PM on May 1 and 7 AM on May 2 suspects entered a home in the  3600 block of  WL Breeding Dr.that is under construction by forcing their way in  through a back window and stole an electric range. The suspects also attempted to remove a refrigerator.  The refrigerator was left in the backyard because the suspects got the fridge stuck in the mud.  Still images show a Red Chevrolet 4 door truck, with what appears to be white fishing rod holders affixed in the bed of the truck. The truck appears to have “low profile” chrome wheels and “low profile” tires. It appears to be to be a 2004-2007 year model with very bright fog lamps.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Joshua Fischer (12/20/1990) for driving while intoxicated at the 7200 block of South Padre Island Drive Tuesday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer was at a nightclub to monitor the crowd leaving at 2:13am when he heard a car accelerate rapidly and spin its tires. The Officer stopped the black 2007 Scion and discovered the driver, Joshua Fischer, was intoxicated. The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Fischer to the city detention center.

A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital by ambulance after he was struck by a Sport Utility Vehicle while he rode a motorized scooter on the 3900 block of Santa Fe Street Monday night. The 14-year-old boy rode a motorized scooter on the sidewalk at 6:43pm and turned into the road in front of a black 2014 Ford Explorer operated by a 73-year-old man. The 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries and Officers recorded the 14-year-old boy suffered broken bones and was listed in stable condition. The 73-year-old man was treated by an ambulance crew for chest pains and released. No citations were issued.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer impounded a gray 2012 Toyota Tundra pickup truck from the beach after the truck was discovered in about 4 feet of the surf Sunday night. A wrecker service pulled the vehicle to shore and then to the city impound lot. The Officer was unsuccessful to contact the registered owner at the registered address; but continues to search for the owner.

A 40-year-old man reported an aggravated robbery at a restaurant located at 6169 Saratoga Boulevard to Corpus Christi Police Sunday morning. The 40-year-old man explained to the Officers that he completed duties to begin the work day before the store opened when a man with a knife demanded money from the store. The 40-year-old man and another employee, a 33-year-old woman, complied with the man’s demands. The man left the store with money and no injuries were reported. The 40-year-old man described the suspect to Officers as a man who covered his mouth with a white long sleeve shirt, possibly wore gloves, and was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and thin.

A 38-year-old man reported reckless damage on the 1000 block of Peerman Place to Corpus Christi Police Saturday night. The 38-year-old man explained to Officers that he investigated a strange noise at 9:50pm outside his home and discovered some unknown person drove a vehicle off the road and over two Carpe Myrtle trees in the front yard of the 38-year-old man’s home. The 38-year-old man found parts from a vehicle that he believes destroyed the trees and Officers collected the parts as evidence.

Hit and Run on 1000 block of Peerman Place

Corpus Christi Police responded to a major vehicle crash at the 3700 block of Beauregard Drive at 1:55am Sunday morning. The Officers learned a 25-year-old man rode a yellow 2005 Honda moped north on the 5700 block of Liptonshire Drive, failed to make the corner at the 3700 block of Beauregard Drive, and struck the curb which caused the 25-year-old man to strike a house. The 25-year-old man did not wear a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to the hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

General Information Announced About the Buc Days Parade #bucdays

Those that attend the Buc Days Illuminated Parade scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2012 should be aware of a few guidelines to make the event fun and safe for everyone. Follow the Corpus Christi Police Twitter feed at @CorpusChristiPD for updates and progress of the parade.

The Parade route will close to traffic at 5:00pm. The parade route will start at the Buccaneer Stadium and follow Leopard Street to Schatzel Street. The Parade will then follow Schatzel to Water Street and then turn south on Water Street to Kinney Street. A map may be found on the Bucaneer Days website at http://bucdays.com/assets/pdf/2014NightParadeMap.pdf.

Street closures will include Leopard from Nueces Bay to Water Street; Buffalo Street will be closed between Nueces Bay to Palm Street; and Antelope will be closed between Nueces Bay to Palm.

Paraders are allowed to occupy their spot along the parade route starting at 5pm Friday. The open container ordinance remains in effect throughout the night. No one is allowed to block the public rights of way or entrances to private property and no one is permitted to be on private property without the owners consent.

There are a few prohibited items along the parade route. The use of any air horns, any Fireworks, Silly String, and impact firecrackers are all prohibited, so the public is encouraged to leave those items at home. Those that attend the parade are encouraged to bring trash containers to collect and remove their garbage. Everyone that attends should also be mindful of the City Ordinance Section 23-63 for littering in prohibited places.

The parade is a family event and there will be children enjoying the parade. Those that attend will be able to claim a spot on the parade route after 5:00pm on May 2. The Corpus Christi Police wants everyone to enjoy the parade and promote a safe environment for all that attend.

Vehicle Auction This Saturday, May 3

The city of Corpus Christi will auction 81 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the four paved acres of the Corpus Christi Police Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:00am. The general public is allowed to register and view the vehicles for auction from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Friday, May 2nd. The general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00am to 10:00am on the day of the auction. The vehicle for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

There are 24 vehicles for auction that were seized for no insurance. The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization.

Man Steals $50,000 Dollars Worth of Jewelry From Store on SPID

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who stole $50,000 dollars worth of jewelry from a store located on South Padre Island Drive near Greenwood. Corpus Christi Police responded to a theft complaint at a store which had a security safe left unlocked and a man went behind the counter, took the jewelry from the safe and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The man is described as a 15-19 year old male with medium brown skin, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 160 pounds, and wore a black hoodie and blue jeans. Detectives believe a woman was also involved in the theft and describe her as a 15-19 year old female about 5 feet 2 inches tall, with medium brown skin, brown hair and wore a black t-shirt, gray pants, black shoes and had a tan purse.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 24-year-old Courtney Hayden (2/6/1990) for murder at an apartment located at 2206 Capitan Drive Wednesday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 9:52pm and found Hayden at the apartment and a 33-year-old man with obvious injuries which appeared to the Officers to be caused by gunshots. The 33-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance but died at the hospital. The Officers at the scene obtained information that two other people were at the apartment at the time of the event, but fled in a vehicle prior to law enforcement arrival. Other Officers searched the area and found the vehicle with the two other people and then brought them to Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives to be interviewed. Officers arrested Hayden for murder and delivered her to the city detention center.

Police Warn Public of Potential Safety Threat

The Corpus Christi Police Department has a warning for the public of a potential threat.

Damian Perez (9/12/1975) has a criminal history of impersonating a public servant, criminal trespass, unlawfully carrying a weapon, burglary of a vehicle, harassment, assault with bodily injury and terroristic threat.

Recently Perez approached young females at Moody and Flour Bluff High Schools and asked to take their pictures or buy them meals. Perez identified himself as a “multimillionaire entrepreneur” for Showtime Productions. Area schools have been notified of this potential threat to the safety of their students.

On April 29, 2014 Perez was arrested for a warrant for burglary of a vehicle (Case Number 1404290098). A security guard uniform and an empty smith and Wesson handcuff box were found in Perez’s vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Damian Perez is a Hispanic male, 6 feet tall and 195 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and multiple tattoos.

Perez is known to use a 2012 Red Volvo or a 2005 silver or blue Chevrolet Cobalt.

A 20-year-old woman reported an aggravated robbery at a fast food restaurant located at 10602 Interstate Highway 37 to the Corpus Christi Police Tuesday night. The 20-year-old woman told Officers a man and a woman entered the restaurant with masks that covered their faces and the man displayed a handgun. The 20-year-old woman told Officers the man demanded money from the register. The 20-year-old woman told Officers that she (the 20-year-old woman) and her 16-year-old co-worker ran from the store and were not injured. The two masked suspects left prior to law enforcement arrival and the 20-year-old woman told Officers she did not believe anything was taken by the suspects.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 20-year-old Frank Barrientes (12/14/1993) for stealing a box of condoms from a convenience store at 3002 McKinzie Road Wednesday morning. A 44-year-old store clerk reported a theft and explained to Officers that a man took a box of condoms valued at under $5 dollars and the man got into a white Nissan Sentra and left without paying for the merchandise. The 44-year-old man provided the license plate number to Officers. The Officers went to the registered address and found the Sentra. Officers contacted Barrientes and discovered evidence of the crime and learned Barrientes had a warrant for his arrest for burglary. Officers arrested Barrientes and delivered him to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Hector Gutierrez (9/7/1987) for possession of 3.5 pounds of marijuana Monday on the 2800 block of Santa Fe Street. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted speed enforcement at about 9pm Monday night. The Officer conducted a traffic stop when he saw a black 1995 Acura Integra travel faster that the posted speed limit. The Integra fled from the Officer, but once stopped, the Officer arrested the driver, Gutierrez for evading arrest and for operating a vehicle as an unlicensed driver. The Officer discovered 3.5 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle and Gutierrez was additionally charged. The Officer delivered Gutierrez to the city detention center and impounded the vehicle.

A 23-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of Leopard Street and Navigation Boulevard Tuesday night. The 23-year-old man pushed a disabled black 2000 Honda Accord north on Navigation Boulevard through the intersection with Leopard Street at 8:22pm. A black Chevrolet Camaro operated by a 27-year-old man traveled east on Leopard Street and struck the Accord and the 23-year-old man. The 23-year-old man was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued and no other injuries were reported.
