Corpus Christi Police arrested five people Wednesday morning at a home on the 6900 block of Dundee Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to a loud noise complaint at 11:36pm and arrested 47-year-old Lydia Gonzales (5/9/1966) for Possession of a controlled substance (for pills not prescribed to her), 28-year-old Marie Leiva (11/16/1984) for a warrant for her arrest for Criminal Trespassing, 41-year-old Lance Flanagan (4/8/1972) for Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Suzanne Hinckley (9/6/1979) and Raul Benavides (3/3/1974) both for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify a man who approached a juvenile and made inappropriate remarks to him.  The man offered to pay the 14-year-old money, if the juvenile allowed the suspect to view his private parts.  The juvenile was uninjured and informed parents who called police.

The suspect is described as a slender White male, 25 to 35 years of age, and standing 5’8” to 5’9” feet tall.  He was last seen wearing glasses, a white striped polo shirt, and khaki pants.

A 58-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police Monday that an unknown man knocked her to the ground and stole her purse at a store at 4101 Highway 77. The 58-year-old woman told Officers she had injured her hand and knee from the fall and described the man as a male about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 160 pounds, had sandy color hair, a goatee, and a red mark on the side of his neck.

A 26-year-old man reported a burglary to his residence to the Corpus Christi Police Monday. The 26-year-old man said he left his home at about 11:00am and when he returned at about 1:00pm, he saw the garage door to his home on the 9600 block of Wilkins Drive was open and about $1,100 dollars worth of property was missing from inside. The 26-year-old man told Officers that the garage door was left unlocked while the home was unattended.

A 69-year-old woman reported a burglary to her home to the Corpus Christi Police Monday. The 69-year-old woman told Officers she left her home on the 1200 block of Manchester Avenue on Wednesday and when she returned on Monday, she discovered a ladder on the back of her home, her window was pried open, and a television was gone.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 19-year-old woman for possession of a controlled substance at the 1000 block of Sealane Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of indecent exposure at South Bay Park at 8:40pm in which two people were having sex in a vehicle. A Corpus Christi Police Officer found the vehicle and arrested 19-year-old Sarah Whittington (8/15/1994) for possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol by a minor, and possession of a controlled substance for what the Officer believes is heroine found in her possession. A 20-year-old man was released at the scene.

A 49-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that she was robbed Monday night in an area of brush near the 400 block of Webb Street. The 49-year-old woman told Officers she is homeless and lives in a tent in the brush. The 49-year-old woman said she was wakened in her tent by a 52-year-old homeless man she knows. The 49-year-old woman told Officers the 52-year-old man was intoxicated and demanded her radio. The 49-year-old woman told Officers the 52-year-old man hit her several times and she left to call for help. Officers checked the dark brush but did not find the suspect.

A 47-year-old woman reported indecent exposure to the Corpus Christi Police Monday at an apartment complex located at 1001 Carmel Parkway. The 47-year-old woman told Officers she arrived at her home with her 13-year-old daughter and noticed a man standing outside exposing himself. The 47-year-old woman told Officers she confronted the man and the man ran away. The 47-year-old woman described the man to Officers as a Hispanic male about 35 years of age, 200 pounds and wore a light blue short sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 26-year-old man for aggravated assault after he threw a glass bottle filled with gasoline at a 21-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a disturbance at an apartment complex at 625 Gordon Street and arrested 26-year-old Robert Rangel (11/5/1987) for Aggravated Assault, Injury to a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief. The 21-year-old woman and the 4-year-old child cleaned off the gasoline that was splashed on them and reported minor injury to the Officers. Rangel was then delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 27-year-old man Monday night for aggravated assault after he ran a vehicle off the road on the 600 block of Glazebrook Street. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a major vehicle crash at the 600 block of Glazebrook Street at 7:40pm. A 29-year-old woman told Officers that 27-year-old Lionel Torres (12/9/1985) chased her vehicle at a high rate of speed and swerved into her vehicle which caused her vehicle to strike a tree. The 29-year-old woman told Officers there were five passengers in her vehicle at the time of the crash which includes two adults and three children. A nine-year old girl sustained a laceration to her forehead as a result of the crash. The three children were all taken to the hospital by ambulance with what Officers believe are non life-threatening injuries. Torres had fled the scene but Corpus Christi Police found Torres at another location and arrested him for aggravated assault. Torres was then delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police investigated a motorcycle crash at the 13600 block of Northwest Boulevard Saturday night in which a 38-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance after having struck the raised center median. The 38-year-old man rode a black 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle without a helmet but was treated for what officers believe to be non life-threatening injuries. Crash Investigators from the Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section continue to investigate the cause of the crash. No other vehicles, property, or people were involved in the crash.

Offense: Theft of a Firearm (Penal Code Section 31.03) State Jail Felony

Case Number: 1311100014

Corpus Christi Police arrested two men Sunday morning for several charges which include tampering with evidence and a recovered stolen firearm from a traffic stop at South Padre Island Drive at West point Road. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at 1:32 am when a green 1996 Ford Explorer made an improper turn at South Padre Island Drive at West Point Road. The officer saw the front passenger, Tommy Yanez (12/21/1978) eating marijuana. The Officer arrested Yanez for possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence. The Officer then discovered a stolen firearm in the vehicle. The Driver, 50-year-old Bryan Hanna (11/18/1962) was arrested for possession of marijuana and theft of a firearm. The vehicle was impounded and the two men were delivered to the city detention center.

A 21-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police Sunday that a person discharged a firearm causing damage to his vehicle while it was parked and unattended at the 2700 block of Chimney Rock Drive. The 21-year-old man told Officers he heard a firearm discharge Saturday night at about 10:15pm; but, did not call Police until he saw a hole in his rear bumper and spent shell casings near his vehicle. The 21-year-old man told Officers he suspects a person, but no arrests have yet been made as Police continue to investigate.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two men Sunday morning for theft after they attempted to steal beer from a convenience store located at 3053 Waldron Road. A Corpus Christi Police Officer heard an announcement on the police radio that two men stole beer from the store and left north on the 3000 block of Waldron Road in a white truck. The Officer went to Waldron Road and saw a truck with two men who matched the description announced on the police radio. The Officer conducted a traffic stop at the 2600 block of Tinian Street and arrested 21-year-old Daniel Pineda (11/2/1992) and 18-year-old Alex Garcia (6/2/1995) for theft. The beer valued at $34 dollars was returned to the store, the truck was impounded, and the two men were delivered to the city detention center.

A 30-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that he was robbed Monday morning at an apartment complex located at 5701 Williams Drive. The 30-year-old man told Officers he was invited to a party at an apartment; but the person who invited the 30-year-old man hit him in the face with a closed fist and demanded cash. The 30-year-old man told Officers he gave the man cash and the man ran away. The 30-year-old man described the suspect as a 20-year-old Hispanic man about 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 185 pounds, with curly black hair. No arrests have yet been made.

A 78-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that a man took her purse from her hand Sunday afternoon at a shopping center at 5425 South Padre Island Drive. The 78-year-old woman told Officers she walked in a store at 3:20pm when an unknown man grabbed her purse from her hand and ran out of the store. The 78-year-old woman told Officers she screamed and the man dropped the purse. The 78-year-old woman told Officers an 18-year-old store employee grabbed the suspect, but was not able to keep hold of the suspect. The 78-year-old woman told Officers her purse was returned to her and the suspect fled. The 78-year-old woman described the suspect to Officers as a white man about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, clean shaven with blonde hair and wore jeans and a brown coat with a hood.

Case Number: 1311100037

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 17-year-old man Sunday morning at the 3000 block of Ayers Street for burglary of a building, burglary of a vehicle, evading arrest, and for a warrant for his arrest. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at 3035 Ayers Street at about 4:07am Sunday morning after the front door window was smashed. Officers found 17-year-old Victor Rodriguez (1/13/1996) nearby and arrested Rodriguez for evading arrest and for the burglary of a building to 3035 Ayers Street. Officers connected Rodriguez to a burglary of a nearby vehicle and discovered Rodriguez had an active warrant for his arrest for possession of marijuana. Rodriguez was then delivered to the city detention center.

The Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating an aggravated robbery that happened Saturday morning at a restaurant located at 4444 East Causeway Boulevard. A 52-year-old man told Officers he is an employee at the restaurant and an unknown man went into the store at about 1:40am, displayed a weapon, and demanded cash. The 52-year-old man told Officers the suspect hit him on the head which caused a small cut, and then escorted the 52-year-old man to the back to gather money. The 52-year-old man told Officers the suspect gathered the money and left. The 52-year-old man was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The 52-year-old man described the suspect to Officers as a male who wore a gray or light green long sleeve hoodie, blue jeans, tennis shoes and a ski mask.

Officers E. Garza and M. Garanzuay went to 5725 Curtis Clark in reference to an arrest warrant for the aggravated assault at Club Cheetah’s. Officers contacted the resident and were given consent to search the home. Mark Booker (08/08/70) was found hiding in a closet under a pile of clothes. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center.

Officers with the Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force, CCPD Narcotics and Organized Crime Units worked together to locate a wanted sexual offender from Victoria County. The suspect, Robert Nunez Jr. (01/23/77) was located at 711 S. Port and was taken into custody without incident.

The warrants were for Sexual Assault of a Child, Possession of Marijuana and Driving While intoxicated.

Officer F. Perez contacted the owner of 1713 Van Loan. The owner said that there was no water or electricity to the house and no one was allowed to be on the property. He signed a Criminal Trespass Authority and officers posted a No Trespassing sign on the property.

At 7:15pm officers J. Jones and C. Meer responded to 1713 Van Loan in reference to several subjects at the location. The officers arrived and observed two subjects and a car on the property. The gate to the driveway was forced off the hinges in a way to allow access to the property. As officers were talking to the subjects outside, two other subjects came out of the house. Amy Perez (04/12/86), Edward Ward (08/23/57), Roy Franklin (10/29/73) and Daniel Martinez (09/15/89) were arrested for Criminal Trespass and transported to the City Detention Center.

This is an example of cooperation between the citizens of Corpus Christi and the Police Department to Reduce Crime, the Fear of Crime and to Enhance Public Safety.

Officers responded to 1826 Frio St. in reference to a man exposing himself in front of Los Encinos Elementary School.  The suspect had left the scene but a witness provided a description of the suspect and a direction of travel. Officers contacted the suspect in the area of 5900 Greenwood Dr. They noticed that the suspect’s pants were opened and his genitals were exposed. The suspect, Anthony Riley (06/01/1954) was positively identified. He was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center.

Officers responded to 6425 SPID at Club Cheetah’s for an assault with injuries. Arriving officers observed the victim unconscious on the ground in front of the business. The victim stopped breathing and officers immediately began CPR until CCFD medics arrived. The victim was transported to Bay Area Medical Center.

Witnesses advised that there was a disturbance inside the club and all that were involved were asked to leave. The disturbance continued in the parking lot. The victim was punched in the head causing him to fall to the ground, knocking him unconscious. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are following up on all possible leads in this case. The victim was later transported to MMC.

Police responded to the area of 2600 Sonora in reference to a stabbing.

Officers arrived and observed that the 33 year old female victim had been stabbed in the face with a knife. Medic units transported the victim to MMC.

A witness near the home advised Officers that the victim and suspect were heard to be arguing. The witness left the scene but upon their return, observed the suspect stab the victim.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and a BOLO was put out for the suspect. Responding officers I. Rodriguez and S. Morgan observed a subject matching the description in the area of 2800 S. Port. He was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect, Daniel Ramirez (02/06/1980) was arrested and booked into the City Detention Center.

The victim was last listed in critical condition at MMC.

ATM Stolen from CVS

Date:  November 6, 2013, 3:21 a.m.
Location:  6601 Everhart Rd.
Event:  Burglary
Case Number:  1311060017

Officers responded to alarm call for a burglary in progress at the CVS Pharmacy located at 6601 Everhart Rd. Upon arrival a witness informed Officers that a silver van was seen backed up the business doors and that 5 to 6 subjects had taken the ATM that was located inside.

Officers were able to view the security video and see that several male subjects entered the store, wrapped a chain around the ATM and attempted to drag the machine out of the store. They were unsuccessful in their first attempt and subsequently were only able to get away with part of the ATM.

Officers located the abandoned van one block over from the CVS. The van had been stolen from the 500 block of S. Staples just prior to the burglary. The ATM was not located. An undetermined amount of cash was within the ATM when it was taken.

JoshuaDavidBazanRobert Brandon Munoz (09/23/85) was arrested after he assaulted a 21-year-old woman with a knife.  The woman sustained a laceration to her cheek.  She declined medical treatment. 

Munoz fled from Officers, but was later arrested at his residence.  He was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  Munoz was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.

HerbieWardallHansenAn Officer observed Herbie Wardall Hansen jump up and run behind the wall at the NAS flyover upon seeing his police car.   As the Officer snuck up on Hansen he ran north between the walls to the freeway  another Officer was able to cut him off and force  him to run west into the brushy area between NAS and Lakeside.  Officers caught up to Hansen and arrested him.  Hansen was charged with Evading Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.

RobertBrandonMunozOfficers investigating a burglary at 1419 Lipan and contacted the owner of the vehicle who advised their son was possibly driving the vehicle.  Officers began checking the pawn shops and returned to check for Bazan at his parent’s residence.   Officers attempted to contact Joshua David Bazan (05/07/88) as he was driving away.  Bazan fled from Officers turning into a dead-end street where he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.  He was captured and arrested.  Bazan was charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Evading Arrest, and an outstanding Parole Violation.

 Police were called to the 2300 block of Horne Road for a found child two-year-old child.  A witness advised Officers that the child crossed in front of her vehicle as she drove down Horne Road.  The child was walking towards the McDonald’s.

Officers began knocking on doors in La Armada and any house close by, but had no luck.  With the assistance of MetroComm dispatchers, the uninjured child was reunited with his parents who lived in the 200 block of Pearse. The investigation will be turned over to Texas Family and Protective Services.

Two IHOP employees reported to Police they were robbed at knife point by a masked man.  The suspect wearing a mask walked in the back door and forced the manager to open the safe.  The robber then fled out the back door taking an undetermined amount of money.  No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a tall man, standing 5’11” to 6’2” feet tall and weighing 220 to 240 lbs.  He was last wearing a hoodie, blue jean shorts, with black and white shoes.

Man Charged in Larkspur Shooting

Corpus Christi Police were called to the 4800 block of Larkspur Lane for a shooting with several shots being fired.  Upon their arrival, Officers discovered two individuals had sustained injuries from the gunfire.  A 43-year-old man had been shot in the right ankle and a 39-year-old woman had a gunshot wound to the right arm.  Both were taken to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. 

The suspect Rafael Cantu (03/04/37) surrendered himself to Officers and was taken into custody.  He was taken to Police Headquarters for questioning.  Further investigation revealed the 43-year-old man was Cantu’s son and the woman an innocent bystander. 

Cantu was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon~Family Violence which is a 1st Degree Felony and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon which is a 2nd Degree Felony.  A 1st Degree Felony is punishable by up to 99 years in prison, while the 2nd Degree Felony is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.  If found guilty, a $10,000 fine can be assessed on each charge.
