Police were called to the convenience store for an armed robbery in which the store clerk was stabbed. The two employees reported the robber walked into the store and took an undetermined amount of money, stabbing one of them in arm. The clerk was taken to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years of age, standing 5’5″ to 5’7″ feet tall, and weighing 140 to 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing an orange “Texas Longhorns” t-shirt and blue jean shorts.

9-11 5K Run Honoring South Texas First Responders

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, the second annual Patriot 5K Fun Run & Walk will take place in memory of the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001.  The event honors all of those who are first to respond in times of emergency, including all present and past members of the Armed Forces, Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics, Sheriff’s Deputies, Department of Public Safety Troopers, Constable’s Officers, State and Federal Officers, Crime Scene Investigators and Dispatchers.

The event will begin with a patriotic ceremony at 7:00 a.m. at Sherrill Park, with the Corpus Christi Veterans Band and the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas.  The 5K course will take place along the sea wall with a loop around the People Street T-Head and a turnaround in front of the bayfront.  Afterwards, participants can tour different law enforcement exhibits and awards for best running times in different age categories will be handed out.

The run will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. at Sherrill Park, 222 S. Shoreline Drive.  The event is free to all active and retired first responders and members of the Armed Forces.  Kids 12 and under will cost $10, while adult non-first responders will cost $25.  Everyone will receive a t-shirt and a bib number for finish line timing, as quantities are availability.  Race day registration will take place from 6:30 a.m. until 7:15 a.m.  Participants may also go online to www.vfitproductions.com to register or to print out entry forms.

Missing 45-year-old Man Found

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank the public and the media’s assistance in helping locate Esequiel Ramos who had been reported missing by his sister on Wednesday, September 4th.

A Corpus Christi Police Officers conducted a traffic stop at South Padre Island Drive at West Point at 2:11am Friday morning when a gray 2000 Plymouth Neon was speeding. The Officer arrested 26-year-old Lawrence Ramirez (7/2/1987) for Driving While Intoxicated.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at the 1600 block of Nile Drive at 9:40pm Thursday night. A black 2007 Dodge Charger driven by a 25-year-old man travelled on South Padre Island Drive and conducted a turn to travel south on Nile. The Charger struck a utility pole and rolled. The 25-year-old driver and two women passengers received non life-threatening injuries. Police arrested the 25-year-old driver, Scott Knesek (1/20/1988) for driving while intoxicated with 2 or more previous convictions. Knesek was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and to collect a specimen of his blood. Knesek was then delivered to the city detention center.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at the 3000 block of Jamaica Drive at 1:58am Friday morning. The Officer discovered the passenger of the maroon 1993 Cadillac Deville was 27-year-old Michael Alvarado (3/30/1986), a fugitive on the Nueces County’s Top Ten Most Wanted list for September 2013.

The Officer then investigated the driver, 26-year-old Tara Speer (1/29/1987) and discovered contraband. The Officer arrested Speer for Possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Officer arrested Alvarado for possession of a controlled substance, fail to identify as a fugitive from justice, and for the warrant of arrest for Burglary of a Habitation. Speer and Alvarado were then delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a shopping center and met with security staff. Police then discovered the woman who caused the disturbance, 22-year-old Alexandria Bates (6/27/1991), had several warrants for her arrest. Police arrested Bates and then delivered her to the city detention center.

A 44-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person discharged a firearm and struck his house and his gray 2001 Chevy Z71 parked in the driveway. No person was injured. Police are searching for a black Ford Expedition to find the person responsible for the damage.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer heard a vehicle alarm at 12:53am Friday morning and went to the source to find a tan 2012 Ford F-250 truck with the door open on the 4500 block of Windows Drive. The Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and the 22-year-old man told the Officer that a laptop and several Digital Video Disks valued at about $2,500 dollars were taken from inside the truck.

Help needed to find missing man

EsequielRamosCorpus Christi Police Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help locate 45-year-old Esequiel Ramos who was reported missing by his sister.  Esequiel was last seen at 2:00pm on September 4, 2013 when he left to go visit a neighbor.

Esequiel is disabled and suffers from several medical conditions and does not have his medication with him.  Anyone with any information on his whereabouts are asked to call police at 361-886-2600 or Detective R. L. Garcia at 361-886-2850.

After Labor Day Auction

The C.C.P.D.’s commitment to “Keep Corpus Christi Safe” has continued with its “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative”

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, a total of 88 cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be auctioned at the Corpus Christi Police Department Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive during our monthly auction. The site has four paved acres for an auction lot.

Approximately 27 of these vehicles are “No Insurance” impounds. On Friday, September 6, 2013, the general public will be allowed to register and view the vehicles to be auctioned from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no registration fee.

On the day of the auction, the general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The auction will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. on September 7, 2013.   The vehicles to be auctioned can be viewed at www.siskauction.com. An auction list may also be downloaded from the same website.

The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization.

During August 2013, Officers issued 553 citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and impounded 102 vehicles for the same charge.

Three Men Arrested During Traffic Stop; Kilo of Cocaine Seized

On September 4, 2013, Narcotics/Vice Investigation Division Officers were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing investigation.  During the course of their surveillance the NVID Officers had a vehicle pulled over a vehicle with the assistance of the Gang Unit.

The vehicle stop resulted in the seizure of 1040.66 grams (approximately 1 kilogram) of powder cocaine with a street value of $32,000.  Jimmy Lee Bazaldua (10/11/84), Hector Lee Pinon Jr. (12/30/92), and Joshua Cano (07/19/91) were arrested and booked at th City Detention Center.  All three were charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services & PAAC Have New Adoption Location

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS), along with their adoption partner, People Assisting Animal Control (PAAC) have a new adoption location for cats and kittens.

Petco Inc., located in Calallen on U.S. 77, has opened their doors and Cat Adoption room to CCACS & PAAC. Approximately eight (8) Cats or Kittens can be viewed each week at the Petco location. All specials that are offered at CCACS on low-cost adoptions will also be extended to the animals at the Petco location.

In response to this new partnership, CCACS is reducing adoption fees for all our Petco cats & kittens to only $20. This offer begins Saturday, September 7, 2013 and expires Saturday, September 28, 2013. This includes spay/neuter and age appropriate vaccinations.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a Burglary in Progress complaint where a 27-year-old woman believed someone was inside her house without permission. The 27-year-old woman told the responding Officers that while she got out of the shower she heard a person talk to her dog. The 27-year-old woman told Officers after she heard the voice, she opened the door she saw what she thought was a person walk towards her kitchen.  The 27-year-old woman and a neighbor both armed themselves with handguns and then they checked the house before Police arrived.  There was no evidence of forced entry and there was nothing missing from the home.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop when a 49-year-old man on a bicycle failed to yield at a stop sign on the 500 block of Skipper at Carletta Street. The Officer discovered that the 49-year-old man had medication which was prescribed to another person. The Officer arrested 49-year-old Donny Baldwin (7/12/1964) for Possession of a Controlled Substance and delivered Baldwin to the city detention center.

A 29-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that she returned from a fishing trip with a 37-year-old man and the two began to argue. The 29-year-old woman told Officers she then refused to provide the 37-year-old man a ride and he punched her. The 37-year-old man then took the truck which belongs to the 29-year-old woman and drove through a security gate causing an estimated $3,000 dollars in damage. The 37-year-old man has not yet been apprehended.

Police are searching for a black 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck valued at about $2,500 dollars and the 37-year-old man described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a disturbance complaint in a parking lot Thursday morning. The Officers found a 24-year-old man displayed a knife and chased a 26-year-old man for urinating on the 24-year-old man’s car. No injuries were reported. Police arrested 24-year-old Ryan Woods (5/2/1989) for Aggravated Assault and for Public Intoxication. The 26-year-old man was not intoxicated and was released.

Corpus Christi Police Officers investigated a tip that identified the location of a fugitive at 4322 Kostoryz Road. Officers found 30-year-old Rickey Reyes (11/06/1982) and arrested him for a warrant out of Jim Hogg County for Aggravated Assault.

A 32-year-old woman reported to the Corpus Christi Police that she had money taken from her by force Wednesday night on the 2000 block of Harvard Street. The 32-year-old woman said she walked on the sidewalk and passed a group of six people with whom she is familiar. The 32-year-old woman said the two men attacked her and took her money. The 32-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police are searching for the group of six who fled in a white Chevrolet Impala.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a disturbance on the 1900 block of North Shoreline Boulevard at 8:30am Wednesday morning and arrested 38-year-old Mark Garcia (9/12/1974) for public intoxication. Garcia caused a disturbance when his employer told him to leave for showing up to work intoxicated. Garcia was then delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police are searching for a 66-year-old man who walked away from a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Wednesday afternoon. A 42-year-old employee reported to the Corpus Christi Police that the 66-year-old patient walked away from the facility and there is concern for his medical conditions. The 66-year-old man is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. The 66-year-old man was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue pants.
