Auto Burglary Victim’s Property Recovered, Man Arrested

Police were called to the H.E.B. at 3033 S. Port Avenue for an auto burglary in progress.   Two men were seen burglarizing a vehicle in the parking lot.  The suspects were last seen traveling southbound on Port Avenue in beige SUV.

Officer M. Dominguez observed a man standing by a parked tan Ford Explorer in the 3700 block of Blanco Court and stopped to talk to him.  Both the man and the vehicle matched the description provided by a witness in the earlier auto burglary.

The man lied to Officers about his identity and was arrested.  Juan Jimenez (02/017/78) was found to be wanted.  Jimenez was charged with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Burglary of a Vehicle and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice.

Officers were able to find the owner of the burglarized vehicle and reported  a car stereo and cd were stolen.  The victim’s stolen car stereo and cd were found in the Explorer and recovered.  The investigation into the auto burglary is ongoing and being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Swarming Bees Attack Construction Workers

Officers were called to the Arlene Drive residence for a swarm of bees which attacked several individuals remodeling the home.  Upon their arrival, Officers were told the homeowner and two other males were stung multiple times when they disturbed a nest of bees inside an electrical box.  Each man had ten to fifteen bee stings and sought medical treatment prior to calling police.

Vector Control was called to assist and exterminate the swarm of bees.  They will return to the residence with AEP to clear the honey comb out.

City of Corpus Christi Vector Control recommends that you immediately seek shelter in a bee attack.  Cover your face and body when running away from the bees and seek emergency medical attention, if you experience any reactions such as dizziness, hives, or nausea.

To prevent a bee problem, Vector Control asks that you inspect your property before doing any type of work.  If a colony of bees is found, stay away from them and contact Vector Control at 361-826-4622 for assistance.

Man Charged with 3rd D.W.I.

Officer P. Janko was traveling northbound in the 4900 block of Ayers when he was almost hit by a brown Buick when it swerved over into his lane of traffic.  The Officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and continued driving several hundred feet.

The driver Pedro Figirova (04/14/49) was contacted and appeared to be intoxicated.  Further investigation revealed Firgirova was drinking at a local bar and unaware he almost hit a police car.  He was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Breath Test.

Figirova was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  He was charged Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More which is a 3rd Degree Felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 fine.

$3,500 Transmitter Stolen from Job Site

A City Gas Department employee reported that he was detecting gas lines in the area of Green Bay and  S. Padre Island Drive with a Radio Detection TX10 Transmitter when it was stolen.  The employee told Officers, he put the transmitter on the ground and moved down the street.

Upon his return, the transmitter was gone.  The employee was unable to provide a description of the suspect.  The transmitter is valued at $3,500.

“Suspicious Man” Arrested

Officers were called to Hewitt Drive for a suspicious man knocking on doors in area.  The caller also stated the man was found in the backyard of a nearby residence and chased out by the gardener.

While en route, Officers were also advised of an alarm call on Hewitt Drive and arrived to find a man fitting the description in the alley way.

Brandon James (07/12/83) was contacted and found two have a couple of screwdrivers on his person.  James was also found to have an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant for Burglary of a Habitation.   He was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.

Officers found an unsecured door at the alarm call, but there appeared to no property missing.

Officers Have Rough Day at Work

Officers responded to “Club Sixx” for a call for service in which callers reported two males assaulting a female.  Upon their arrival, Officers observed Lesley Lamb (12/18/83) and Patricia Ann Grady (11/21/79) staggering down the sidewalk.  Both appeared to be intoxicated when contacted.   A third male was found not to be intoxicated and released.

Lamb was observed to have something in his mouth and spit out a baggy of Marijuana.  Both Lamb and Grady were arrested.  The duo began fighting with one another while in the back seat of the police car.  Grady began kicking at Lamb who slid over and pinned Grady against the door.  The Officer attempted to pull Lamb away from Grady when she kicked the Officer in the face.

After Grady was taken into the City Detention Center, Lamb began kicking at the windows and doors to the police car.  When another Officer asked Lamb to calm, he spat in the Officer’s face.

Grady was charged with Public Intoxication and Assault Causes Bodily Injury to a Public Servant, while Lamb was charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Marijuana, and Harassment by Persons in Correctional Facility.

Woman Stabbed In Leg

Police were called to Doctor’s Regional Hospital for a walk-in stabbing victim.  Officers contacted the 19-year-old victim who reported she had been walking home from an interview when she was attacked by three females.

The victim told Officers she was at Nueces Bay and Leopard when she was approached by three females. The women began punching her in the face and upper body.  She was able to escape and run away, but the women did not pursue her.  When the woman arrived home, she discovered a stab wound to her leg and sought medical treatment.

The suspects were unknown to the victim and described only as two Black females and a Hispanic female.

Local Missing Woman Found

Detectives Need Your Help to Solve Robbery

Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to identify a man who robbed the Liquid Town on Saturday, October 6, 2012. At approximately 8:30pm,  Officers responded to the liquor store and contacted the 30-year-old store clerk who reported she was robbed at gunpoint.  The 55-year-old store manager attempted to verbally intervene when the man pointed the gun at him and again demanded the money from the register.  The man ran out the store with an undetermined amount of money and fled to the east side of the business where his getaway vehicle was parked.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male or a light complected Black male, 35 to 45 years of age, and 5’10” feet tall.  He was wearing a long-sleeve work shirt and dark-colored Dickie work pants.  He was last seen fleeing eastbound on Saratoga Boulevard in a dark-colored passenger vehicle.
