The Corpus Christ Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety will work jointly, to actively patrol all roadways in the City of Corpus Christi. Additional officers will be assigned to DWI enforcement in an effort to deter motorists from driving while intoxicated.
The Corpus Christi Police Department will also work with the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office to aggressively enforce DWI related offenses.
CCPD and DPS will begin their operations this Friday, February 11, 2022.
The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to remind our community that there are alternatives to driving under the influence. We encourage the use of a designated driver, taxicab, or a rideshare service to ensure that you arrive home safely.

On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, an officer effected a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along the area of Gollihar Rd. and Randall Dr.
Upon attempting to make contact with the driver, the male evaded in the vehicle at which point the officer ceased the traffic stop and did not pursue. Shortly after, officers were alerted to a crash on the 4200 block of Kostoryz Rd.
Upon arriving at the accident, officers recognized the suspect vehicle and attempted to make contact with the suspect who was still inside the vehicle. The male broke out the passenger window and exited the vehicle, he then proceeded to evade on foot. Officers were canvassing the area searching for the suspect, when an officer observed the male in an alleyway, along the 4100 block of Kostoryz Rd. Upon seeing the officer, the suspect produced a weapon, which forced a second officer to discharge his service weapon striking the suspect.
The suspect was provided immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect was later pronounced deceased.
We can confirm that a weapon produced by the suspect was located on scene.
In reference to the crash, the suspect collided with two separate vehicles, causing minor injuries to three adults and one minor child. Two adults and the minor child were all transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The Corpus Christi Police Officers will be placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with current department practice and policy.

Corpus Christi Police Department Hit & Run Investigators are asking for your help to discover any new information about a fatal Hit and Run Crash that took the life of 50-year-old Bobby Crossland. This is the Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, January 8, 2022 officers were dispatched to a hit and run accident. When officers arrived, they located 50-year-old Bobby Crossland who was pronounced deceased on scene. It was determined that Mr. Crossland had been by struck by an unknown vehicle as he was riding his bicycle along the 5100 block of IH-37 Access EB. We are urging anyone who may information regarding this crash to come forward, we want to provide Mr. Crossland’s family some closure.
Investigators have determined that the suspect vehicle is a pick-up truck.

At approximately 12:41 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Gollihar/Bernandino for a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old shooting victim who was deceased on scene.
Investigators are still actively working on this case and following up on leads.
At this time, Corpus Christi Police Detectives are seeking assistance from the public to identify occupants that were traveling in a vehicle of interest. Detectives have obtained surveillance footage of the vehicle of interest, that is being described as a light in color sedan.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this suspected burglar. Officers were dispatched to a business in the 5400 block of SPID. The officers made contact with the caller who advised the suspect forced his way inside the business and proceeded to take various items. The suspect also broke into a vending machine inside the break room.
The suspect is described as a male in his 30’s wearing a black hat, blue jeans, a green plaid shirt and checkered shoes.

At approximately 3:42 PM on Monday, January 17, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Leopard, reference a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 62-year-old female who advised that at she was getting into her vehicle, she was approached by an unknown male who used physical force to take personal items and the keys to her vehicle, the male then drove off in the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries.
At approximately 4:18 PM, officers were in the area of 18th Street when they observed the stolen vehicle. Upon seeing officers, the offender wrecked the vehicle and then fled on foot, he was quickly apprehended by officers.
The offender, who is a juvenile, was charged with Robbery and Evading Arrest or Detention.
The juvenile will be booked in at the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
At approximately 3:30 PM on Monday, January 17, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Moravian, reference a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 19-year-old male who advised that at approximately 2:49 PM, as he was getting into his vehicle, he was approached by an unknown male who displayed a handgun and demanded that he the victim drive him to a secondary location.
The victim advised that they were in the area of the 4800 block of Moravian when the victim was able to escape the vehicle, after a struggle. The victim sustained minor injuries and was able to seek help from a nearby citizen.
Officers were able to track down the offender to a residence located on the 600 block of Dolores. The victim’s vehicle was located on the 700 block of Francesca.
Officers made contact with the offender, who was still in possession of the keys to the stolen vehicle as well as the handgun that was believed to be used in the commission of the robbery.
A field ID was completed, with the offender being positively identified.
As a result, the offender 28-year-old Roland Gomez was arrested. Gomez was charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by Felon and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
Gomez was booked in at the City Detention Center and will be transported to the Nueces County Jail after he is processed.

At approximately 1:30 AM on Sunday, January 16, 2022, officers were dispatched to a shots fired call, which was quickly upgraded to a shooting with injuries. The reporting party, who was transporting the victim to a local hospital, noted that the shooting occurred at an apartment complex located on the 1900 block of Rodd Field.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that the 28-year-old male victim was being treated for life-threatening injuries. The male later succumbed to his injuries at the local hospital.
Investigators are still actively working on this case and following up on leads.
At this time, Corpus Christi Police Detectives are seeking assistance from the public to identify occupants that were traveling in the suspect vehicle. The vehicle is being described as a black in color, 4-door vehicle. The vehicle has tinted windows and is missing the rear, drivers side hubcap.
The vehicle was last seen traveling Northbound on Rodd Field. If you have any information about this vehicle or the occupant(s), please call 361-886-2600.
