FATAL ACCIDENT

At approximately 6:01 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of South Padre Island Drive for a major crash. 

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with 3 individuals, one who was entangled in the vehicle.  The passengers were all extracted from the vehicle with help from the Corpus Christi Fire Department.  

A 43-year-old female was the driver and she had two passengers; a 25-year-old female who was the front passenger and a minor child who was the rear passenger.  

The driver for unknown reasons, accelerated from a stopped position in the parking lot, and at a high rate of speed drove through a gate and collided with the building.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation

The 25-year-old passenger sustained critical injuries.  She was taken into emergency surgery and later succumbed to her injuries.  The 25-year-old female was pregnant and an emergency cesarean was performed, the infant was last reported to be in stable condition.  

The 43-year-old driver and the minor child both sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.  They were both admitted to the hospital for treatment.  

Investigators arrived and upon making contact with the driver, it appeared that she was under the influence of an unknown substance.  Investigators were able to obtain a blood sample, which has been sent to a DPS lab for review. 

Through their investigation, Investigators believe they have enough probable cause to charge the driver.  The 43-year-old female will be charged for one count of Intoxication Manslaughter and two counts of Injury to a Child.  

Warrants are in the process of being secured.  The driver is expected to be arrested upon release from the hospital.  

MISSING CHILD

Update: 8:50 am – Ray Williams has been safely located. Thank you for assisting us.

Corpus Christi Police Department needs your help to locate the whereabouts of a missing child. 10-year-old Ray Williams was reported missing by family members this morning on December 28, 2021. Ray was last seen at approximately 11:00 am on December 27, 2021 in the area of 6000 block of Horizon. Anyone that has seen Ray or knows his whereabouts, please contact 911 immediately. Neighbors in the area are asked to please check their doorbell or surveillance cameras for any sightings of Ray.

Ray is described as a 10-year-old black male, who stands 5’02”, weighs approximately 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Ray was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black sweat pants and black shoes.

The Corpus Christi Police Department asks that anyone who may have any additional information about the whereabouts of Ray is asked to contact the Corpus Christi Police Department by calling either 911 or 886-2600.

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

Date:  Thursday, December 23, 2021 8:42 P.M.
Location: 200 Block of Juniper
Offense: Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer
Case Number: 2112230101

At approximately 8:42 pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021, officers were dispatched to a Burglary in Progress on the 200 block of Juniper Drive.  Updates to the call provided that a homeowner notified officers that an intruder was inside the home. 

Officers arrived on scene at approximately 8:49 PM and were provided a suspect description from the homeowner who was able to see the intruder inside the home via surveillance system.  

Shortly after entry, officers were confronted by the suspect who produced what appeared to be rifle, forcing both officers to discharge their service weapons striking the suspect. 

The officers retreated out of the home and were unsuccessful in gaining compliance from the suspect in exiting the home.

Officers from our SWAT and HNT Units were called out to assist.  

SWAT and HNT arrived on scene and attempted negotiations with the suspect. After approximately two hours, officers exhausted all means of communication and their efforts were unsuccessful in gaining compliance from the suspect to exit the residence. SWAT officers eventually entered the residence at approximately 11:00 pm at which point officers located an adult female with injuries. 

The suspect was provided immediate medical attention and transported to a local hospital.   

We can confirm that the weapon produced by the suspect was located on scene. 

The Corpus Christi Police Officers will be placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with current department practice and policy.

VEHICLES OF INTEREST IN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Charge: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

At approximately 11:04 pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Osage Street reference a shooting.  When officers arrived, they found that 21-year-old female had been shot.  The female sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.    

The responding officers were advised that a vehicle with unknown suspect(s) fired several rounds at the victim’s home.  Two vehicles of interest were seen on nearby surveillance footage near the time that the shots were fired into the home.   Investigators are looking to identify the individuals in those vehicles of interest.

Pier Taggers Arrested

On December 23, 2021, at approximately 2:10 am,  the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a complaint of vandalism on the pier. A fisherman  observed individuals spray painting benches, trashcans and light poles on the pier and promptly called CCPD. Our officers arrived on the scene quickly and took two male individuals into custody. The suspects, who were identified as Emanuel  Ysaguirre (20 yrs. old) and Ethan Flores (20 yrs. old), were arrested for the offenses of graffiti and possession of criminal instruments.

MISSING PERSON

Jennifer Martinez was reported missing on December 14, 2021 by family members. Jennifer was last heard from on December 7, 2021.  Jennifer is known to frequent the North Beach area as well as the Staples and Leopard area. 

Jennifer is described as a 32-year-old female who stands 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs approximately 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

HOMICIDE COLD CASE

Investigators with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Homicide Unit are requesting your help to discover any new information that will help catch a murder suspect, with this Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week.

On Sunday, December 15, 1985, officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Sweet Brian Circle.  Upon arrival, officers found that husband and wife, 33-year-old Gary Gene Gillette and 24-year-old Stephanie Gillette, had been murdered in their home as they slept.

Today is the 36th anniversary of the deaths of Gary and Stephanie Gillette.  Although this case remains unsolved, it is not closed and we want to give their family some closure.

WANTED SUBJECT

The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for your help to locate 23-year-old Rodney Garza who has an outstanding warrant out of Nueces County for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($75,000 Bond).

The warrant originated from a shooting that occurred on November 28, 2021 that left the victim with serious bodily injury. 

Garza is described as a 23-year-old male who stands 5′ 06″, weighs approximately 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
