Detectives Looking For Funny Money Men

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying two men that have been passing counterfeit bills on the south side of the city. One male suspect passed counterfeit one hundred bills at the Barnes and Noble Book Store and the World Market on October 30 and 31. In images captured by store surveillance cameras the Hispanic male is seen in a solid black shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.

Other images show what detectives believe is a different male wearing a black and gray striped shirt and jeans passing a counterfeit fifty dollar bill at the Toys R Us on October 24. At the Toys R Us Store that suspect male is with a white or Hispanic female wearing a gray t-shirt and three small children. Detectives do not think these are the same men but they haven’t ruled out that possibility either

Corpus Christi Police responded to a business located in the 10700 block of Leopard St. for a burglary to a vehicle and witnesses following the suspect on foot. Officers contacted a FedEx driver who said he was making a delivery at an apartment complex when a male in a leather jacket ran up to him yelling that two males were chasing him. The two males approached and told the driver to hold onto the male because he had just burglarized a vehicle.  The suspect male then tried to press on the gas pedal on the Fed Ex truck, and that is when the driver took the offender to the ground and held him until officers arrived.

Upon investigation officers found that the suspect male had entered a 2008 Dodge Ram truck that was parked at a business located at 11020 Leopard St. through the passenger side door.  A witness and the owner of the truck then chased the suspect until he was caught by the Fed Ex driver.

Officers arrested Randall McBurnett (07/04/1989) for burglary to a vehicle, and also found him to have several outstanding arrest warrants. The warrants were for obstructing police, taking a weapon from an officer, and two warrants for assault on public servant. The 55 year old male victim reported that the suspect did not have time to take anything from his truck but he did leave the front interior area in disarray as he rifled through the center console.

Police Investigate Two Violent Attacks On Waldron In Two Consecutive Days

A 30-year-old woman reported an aggravated robbery to Corpus Christi Police on the 2400 block of Waldron Road Thursday night. The 30-year-old woman told Officers she was approached by an unknown man at 2:39am Thursday morning. The 30-year-old woman told Officers the man placed the blade of a knife against her neck and took money from the woman and walked away. The 30-year-old woman described the man to Officers as a 25-35 year old male about six feet tall, about 185 pounds and wore a red hoodie with the hood pulled over his head, black muddy tennis shoes and smelled of alcohol. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries related to the attack.

A 32-year-old man reported an assault to Corpus Christi Police that happened on the 1800 block of Waldron Road Friday night to his 16-year-old son. The 32-year-old man told Corpus Christi Police Officers that his 16-year-old son rode his bike on the 1800 block of Waldron Road when the 16-year-old boy was approached by an unknown man. The 32-year-old man told Officers the man pushed the 16-year-old boy off the bike and pulled the 16-year-old boy toward a house. The 32-year-old man told Officers his 16-year-old son said he (the 16-year-old boy) punched the man and escaped uninjured. The 32-year-old man told Officers his 16-year-old son described the man as a 18-32 year old male, about 180 pounds, with bleached white hair and a thick Spanish accent.

Police Investigate Aggravated Assault on Devon Street

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a disturbance in which a man was stabbed on the 4200 block of Devon Street Friday night. Corpus Christi Police were called at 9:54pm and discovered a 29-year-old man with obvious injuries which the Officers said appeared to be stab wounds. The 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. The Officers found several witnesses to the crime and Detectives were summoned to gather information and evidence. Witnesses told Officers the suspect in this case is a heavy-set man with medium brown skin, brown eyes and black hair and left the scene in a silver car, possibly a Chevy Impala with chrome rims and blue lights in the undercarriage. The Detectives took the witnesses to the Police Headquarters to obtain recorded statements. The suspect in this case remains at large and the 29-year-old man was in surgery at the time of this report.

The store manager of a business located at 11100 Leopard St. called Corpus Christi Police after he discovered a building attached to the business had been broken into.

The manager told officers that he knew that the building was broken into on October 19 but he didn’t think anything was taken.  On that date, suspects twisted the dead bolt lock from the outside and gained entry through the two glass doors.

The manager was now reporting that during that break in 105 bundles of cables leads for a generator were taken.  The cable leads were kept in a large wooden box that was secured by a large chain and lock.  The items that were stolen were valued at $30,000.

Corpus Christi Police were called after a truck and trailer wore stolen by a man following a crash. Three men were attempting to back up a truck and trailer from a private drive in the 5100 block of Curtis Clark St. As they were backing up they collided with a 2002 Nissan Altima driving by on Curtis Clark St.

According to the three men, the male driver of the Nissan was attempting to drive away from the scene so they were forced to hold him down. The male managed to get free from the three men and he jumped into their truck and drove away.

As officers arrived and they were investigating this call, the 21 year old male who had left in the truck called from the Sam’s Club at Everhart Rd. and S. Padre Island Dr. wanting to speak to officers. Officers arrived and found the male with the truck and trailer that had been taken. He told officers that the three men immediately started to assault him after the crash so he fled the scene in their truck because he feared for his life.

After talking to all parties involved, officers decided not to arrest any of the individuals at this time, however all the claims will be investigated.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the Little Miss Kickball Field located at 4200 Mc Ardle Rd. after five vehicles there were found to have been broken into.

All five victims reported that windows on their cars had been smashed out and numerous purses and other property stolen from inside the vehicles while they were parked there.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a burglary in progress of a vehicle at a motel located at 10446 Interstate Highway 37. Officers arrived and found Patrick Wade (05/01/1986) in the bed of a 2011 Chevrolet truck that was parked in the parking lot.

The suspect was seen by officers trying to pry open the tool box of the truck. When officers attempted to identify the suspect, he gave a false name. The 54 year old owner of the truck was located and said that nothing had been taken.

The suspect was finally positively identified and found to have a parole warrant for robbery. He was arrested for the outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with burglary of a vehicle and fail to identify, both Class A misdemeanors.

An employee with AEP called Corpus Christi Police after he noticed that the gate leading up to the back of the Wooldridge AEP substation located in the 2300 block of Rodd Field was wide open.

Upon closer inspection he found that the padlock on the chain had been cut and he also found that a copper ground line had been stolen. AEP estimated that the cost to repair the damaged line would be approximately $300.

This is the second theft of copper wire from an AEP substation in the past few days.  Corpus Christi Police Detectives are still investigating the theft that occurred at the AEP substation located in the 5600 block of Holly Rd on October 21.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a robbery at the First Cash Pawn located at 2104 Morgan Ave. after a customer who was walking around the shop broke the glass counter top of a display and attempted to take jewelry from the case.

Another 27 year old male customer in the store saw what was happening and tried to stop the suspect from taking the jewelry. The two began to fight, and the suspect made threats about shooting the man and the store employees. Customers and store employees were able to hold the suspect until police arrived.

Officers arrested Richard Hollingsworth (07/10/1981) and he was charged with aggravated robbery, a first degree felony, and he was additionally charged with possession of a dangerous drug, a Class A misdemeanor when they found a pill in his pants pocket.

Officers located the metal tool the suspect used to break the display glass, but no firearm was found.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to a business located at 4340 S. Padre Island Dr. for a burglary.
The 52 year old female property manager for this vacant building said she noticed several breaker panels removed from inside the building and wires which had been cut away from the panels.
Inside the building, there were numerous breaker panels which had been gutted of copper wire. It appears the suspects made entry into the building from the roof in a back loading garage. After removing the wire the suspects exited the building through a door which had the interior lock disassembled.
The manager estimated the value of the wire and damage to the building to be about $20,000.
