OVERNIGHT SHOOTING

On February 8, 2025, at about 2:39 am officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of S. Staples. St. in reference to an aggravated robbery. Updates stated a male was shot in the parking lot.

Officers arrived and located an adult male victim in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers began their investigation, they were able to piece together what had occurred.

Officers were told the victim was assaulted in the parking lot after he had exited the establishment. The offender was attempting to take property from the victim and a physical altercation ensued.   

The victim was shot by the offender. During the incident the victim was able to disarm the offender.

The offender fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The Violent Crimes Unit was able to identify and track down offender, 22-year-old Aaron Armendarez and place him under arrest. He was transported to the City Detention center for booking, where he was charged with Aggravated Robbery.

600 GLAZEBROOK ST

On February 3, 2025, at approximately 5:08 pm CCPD officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Glazebrook St. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrived officers located 2 deceased individuals inside an apartment.

Robbery Homicide Detectives were called out to the scene to assist. 

At this time, it appears to be a murder/suicide. The events that led up to the shooting are unclear.

The individuals involved were known to each other, and there is no one else involved. There is no threat to the public.

This is an ongoing investigation.  

SHOOTING ON KOSTORYZ RD. UPDATE:

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Robbery Homicide Detectives were able to review nearby security footage and follow up on several leads.

An individual that was involved was identified and located. 18-year-old Guillermo Martinez was later located and arrested near the 100 block of Buccaneer Dr.

Martinez was transported to the main police station for an interview. He was ultimately transported to the city detention center where he was booked and charged with Capital Murder and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

UPDATE: The shooting victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Robbery Homicide Detectives were called out to the scene to investigate. This is still an ongoing investigation.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 6:38 pm officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Kostoryz Rd. in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a young adult male victim in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital by medics.

Officers are still on scene as this is an ongoing and active investigation.

UPDATE: ARREST MADE; SHOOTING ON OMAHA DR.

UPDATE: During the overnight investigation Robbery Homicide Detectives were able to follow up on leads and identify the offender in the Omaha Dr. shooting. Detectives secured a Murder warrant for offender Andrew Botello (60 YOA).

Detectives along with the CCPD Gang Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, and SWAT, were able to track down Botello’s location to a residence in the 1600 block of Main Dr. Botello exited the residence without incident and was taken into custody.  

Botello was transported to the main police station for an interview. He was then taken to the City Detention Center for booking, where he was charged with the Murder warrant.

Original: On January 24, 2025, at about 5:17 pm officers were dispatched to the 900 block of N. Omaha Dr. in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a middle-aged male in an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a located hospital by EMS, where he later succumbed to his wounds. 

Robbery Homicide Detectives were called out to investigate. Officers are checking for any possible witnesses. Investigators believe parties were known to each other. 

This is still an active scene.

DANGEROUS SPEED LEADS TO ARREST

On December 28, 2024, at about 12:44 am CCPD officers were in the 4300 block of HWY  358 (EB) when they observed a vehicle traveling on the highway over 100 mph.

Officers were able to follow the vehicle as it exited the highway. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle stopped at Staples and SPID.

The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody without incident and his vehicle was impounded.

The driver, 19-year-old Bryan Castillo, was arrested for racing on the highway. He was transported to the city detention center.

RACERS ON HIGHWAY GO TO JAIL

On December 15, 2024, at about 12:50 am CCPD officers were in the area of 4300 SPID (EB) when they observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed east bound on HWY 358. Officers observed one white vehicle and one silver vehicle racing to outperform one another. The vehicles were observed traveling well over 100 mph.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on both speeding vehicles. Both vehicles came to a stop in a business parking lot at SPID and Staples. St.

The driver of the white vehicle was arrested and identified as Isiah Emerson (21). The driver of the silver vehicle was arrested and identified as Deondre Greenwood (22). Both vehicles were impounded.

Both males knew each other. Both males were transported to the City Detention Center.  Emerson was charged with racing on a highway, Possession of marijuana, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Greenwood was charged with racing on a highway and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

SAMOA DR SHOOTING

On December 13, 2024, at 10:08 pm officer dispatched to the 3400 block of Samoa Dr. in reference to a shooting. Dispatch advised a spouse was calling in that she shot her husband.

Officers arrived and located the 61-year-old husband inside his home with a gunshot wound. CCFD medics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim had life threatening injuries.

The wife was detained at the time. There was no one else in the residence.

Robbery Homicide Detectives arrived to investigate and began assessing the scene.

The wife was transported to the main station for interviewing.

It was learned an argument erupted between the couple. The wife then shot her husband.

56-year-old Kelli Owens was later arrested for aggravated assaulted w/ a deadly weapon. She was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

ELDON ST. SHOOTING

On December 1, 2024, at about 2:28 am officers were dispatched to the area of 400 Eldon Dr. in reference to a shooting. Multiple calls were coming in for shots fired in that area.

Officers arrived and were directed to a nearby apartment where they located a 30-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Medics shortly arrived and transported the male to a local hospital.

Witnesses told officers the victim was arguing with his girlfriend outside an apartment building when an unknown male observed them arguing. The unknown male then shot the victim.

The unknown offender left the location in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

The victims’ injuries were non-life threatening at the time.

AYERS STABBING

On November 30, 2024, at about 2:11 am officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Ayers St. in reference to a fight in progress. The call then updated to a stabbing.

The victim of the stabbing was driven to a local hospital. Officers contacted the victim at the hospital and were told a fight broke out between several males. Once the fight dispersed the victim realized he was stabbed. The victim told officers this incident stemmed from a previous altercation at the same location months prior.

Officers went to the incident location, but most had already left the scene.

Officers are still investigating this offense. There were no arrests made at the time.   

The victims’ injuries were non-life threatening.

WRONG WAY DRIVER GOES TO JAIL

On November 30, 2024, at about 12:19 am Officers received multiple calls of a wrong way driver traveling east bound on the west bound side of HWY 358.

Officers located the vehicle and observed it traveling in the wrong direction. Officers paralleled the vehicle, on the east bound side, with lights and sirens activated, but the driver continued to disregard them.

Officers observed the vehicle exit the HWY at Ennis Joslin and came to a stop at 3000 block of Whistler Dr. The driver was contacted.

The driver of the vehicle was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Officers conducted their DWI investigation. The driver was ultimately arrested for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

The driver 23-year-old Jesus Bazan was transported to the city detention center for booking. His vehicle was impounded.
