Weekend Adoption Event Successful

Weekend Adoption Event Successful

Due to the combined efforts of Animal Care Services, PAAC Volunteers, and the Corpus Christi community, over 90 homeless pets found new homes at the weekend adoption event that took place on 08/17 and 08/18.  Adoption fees were paid for by an anonymous donor, making all pets free. PAAC volunteers screened potential adopters to ensure the pets found quality homes. All pets will be spay/neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped.

CCACS has successfully ranked 8th in the nation for the Rachel Ray 100K challenge before the weekend adoption event. New results should be updated by 08/23. CCACS still has many animals that need homes and want to invite the public to visit our adoption center at 2626 Holly Rd. from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Reduced adoption fees of $30 will continue until 08/31.

CCACS is requesting donations of cat litter and new or used towels.

Twenty Three Animal Carcasses Recovered From Residence

Twenty Three Animal Carcasses Recovered from Corpus Christi Residence

On 08/16, CCACS Animal Control Officers recovered approximately 23 animal carcasses from a home on Poenisch Drive. Animal Control Officers were first alerted to the home on 08/15/2013 by CCPD Officers. The last time CCACS had been called to the home was in 2010. The home appeared to be uninhabited by people, however it is believed that the occupant may have been elderly and placed in a nursing home. Animal Control Officers obtained a warrant to enter the home and found the carcasses of what is believed to be cats. A formal analysis of the bones will be performed by CCACS Veterinarian, Melissa Draper, DVM. CCACS is actively investigating the case as Cruelty against Animals, section 42.092 Texas Penal Code.

New Hours at Animal Care Services

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services has New Adoption Hours

Beginning Monday, August 12th, 2013, the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services will have new hours of operation for animal adoptions. The new hours will be Monday through Saturday, 11:00am to 5:00pm.  All other business will remain at the 1:00pm to 5:00pm hours.  This extends shelter hours open to the public through the lunchtime.  The shelter will remain closed on Sundays.

Our goal is to gradually extend hours over the next 12 months to 11:00am to 7:00pm.  Increasing the hours for animal adoptions will allow the public greater opportunity to adopt homeless animals and learn about CCACS.  We are proud to offer these services to the Corpus Christi community.

CCACS encourages the public to visit our facility and view our adoptable cats and dogs.
