Dude! Where is my ???

11.2.2011/6:06pm   Poss. of a Controlled Substance & Poss. of a Dangerous Drug   4600 Corona   1111020112

Vernon Hornsby (07/15/1952) called MetroCom Dispatch and wanted to report his vehicle as stolen. He proceeded to tell Officers that he picked up a female that needed a ride. The thing was, that he could not answer were it was he was taking her.

Hornsby told Officers that when he parked at the Stripes store, located at 2781 Rodd Field, and went inside to purchase some personal items, the female drove away in his vehicle. The Officer on scene  put out  a “be on the look out” (b.o.l.o.) via the police radio for Hornsby’s vehicle. Upon doing so an Officer, in the 4600 blk. of Corona, located the vehicle and detained the female driver.

Vernon was then transported to that location to identify his vehicle and to press charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle on the female driver. Hornsby told Officers that he would not press charges on the female, if nothing was taken from his vehicle. He told Officers he just wanted to make sure everything was in his vehicle. Vernon then went straight to the center console of his vehicle and retrieved an Advil bottle and began to shake it, listening to the bottle rattle to make sure something was still inside. Obviously those actions raised questions in the Officer’s mind as to why Mr. Hornsby would be so concerned that the female, who stole his truck, would have had a headache and needed to have taken some of his Advil. When the Officer checked the contents of the bottle, he located several pills, none of which were Advil. Officers did find several pills in the bottle which were listed under the Controlled Substance section of the Health & Safety Code.

Officers then located another bottle in the center console that contained more illicit drugs.

Vernon was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The female was identified and released at the scene.
