Patrol Report 04/01/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 185 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight March 31 to 7:00 a.m. on April 1, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

A 45 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his truck was stolen from a business located at 4575 Agnes Street.

The man told officers that he was at the business to load some equipment and supplies and that he had left his keys in the ignition while going inside. When he returned to the parking lot near the loading docks he discovered that his 2008 Ford truck was gone.

Just after 6 PM other officers responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Marguerite Street found the stolen truck and the suspect who had taken it.

Officers investigating the suspicious vehicle were told by witnesses that they had observed the truck make a wide right turn at a high rate of speed from Seventeenth Street onto Marguerite Street and almost hit a house.

With the help of witnesses officers found the man who had gotten out of the stolen truck.  Officers arrested, Jamey White 903/17/1980), for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Auction Set For This Saturday

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 75 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Corpus Christi Police Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:00 am.

The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday, April 3. The general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.

All vehicles up for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

A 43 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after he was robbed while working at a restaurant located at 5825 South Padre Island Drive.

The male victim said he was working as an exterminator when he was approached by another man in the parking lot.  The suspect said “give me all your money” and displayed a gun in his left hand.  The victim pulled out some cash and gave the suspect the money.

The suspect then fled on foot east from the restaurant parking lot.

Officers did not located the suspect, and continue to investigate this case.

Warrant Issued For Bank Robber

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have issued an arrest warrant in connection to a bank robbery that occurred at the IBC Bank located at 1317 Waldron Road on March 24.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Christopher Birkigt (12/30/1967).  The warrant has a bond amount of $150,000.  The suspect is described as being 6’00” tall, and 240 pounds.  He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Corpus Christi Police used a GPS service to track down a stolen Jeep and the suspect who had stolen it.

Police had originally been dispatched to an apartment in the 1800 block of Rodd Field Road about 90 minutes earlier. There they took a report from a 45 year old female who reported that her 2015 Jeep Cherokee had been stolen.

Officers were then directed to the 1500 block of Fifth Street by GPS equipped in the Jeep.  When officers arrived in the area, they observed the stolen Jeep parked in front of a home with a male suspect in the driver’s seat.

Officers took the man behind the wheel, James Greene (07/29/1992), into custody.  He has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony

Suspect Steals Sunglasses From TSO

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe is involved in a theft of several sunglasses on March 18.

A store employee of The Texas State Optical, located at 4117 South Staple Street, called Corpus Christi Police after a man walked in and selected two pair of sunglasses and left without paying for them.  The total value of the sunglasses was almost $400.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the stores security system that shows a male, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, medium build with dark hair, wearing a multi-colored long sleeve shirt, black shorts and a black and gray baseball cap.

The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. Corpus Christi Police are investigating the fourth case of stolen vehicle parts reported this week.

The owner of a business located at 218 N. Omaha Drive reported that suspects cut the fence and entered the property. Once inside the suspects removed parts from a 2012 Chevrolet company truck.  The parts were valued at $3000.

Police are still investigating several other reports of stolen vehicle parts.  The first was on March 22 at a business in the 400 block of 44th street where a hood was stolen from a company truck.

On March 24, two victims reported that sometime in the overnight hours suspects used tools to remove light packages that were on their vehicles.  One set of lights was removed from a 2013 Jeep parked in front of a home in the 4300 block of Nolford Place.  It was valued at $1,600.

The other light package was taken from a 2008 Dodge Ram truck parked at a home in the 11800 block of Paint Rock Road.  It was valued at $400.

Officers are investigating whether these cases are related.  At this time no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating the theft of two separate overhead light bars from vehicles in a neighborhood on the northwest side of the city.

Two victims reported that sometime in the overnight hours suspects used tools to remove light packages that were on their vehicles.  One set of lights was removed from a 2013 Jeep parked in front of a home in the 4300 block of Nolford Place.  It was valued at $1,600.  The other light package was taken from a 2008 Dodge Ram truck parked at a home in the 11800 block of Paint Rock Road.  It was valued at $400.

Officers were able to obtain video surveillance from the home, of the burglary on Nolford Place, and are still investigating this case.

At this time no arrests have been made.

Suspect Robs American Bank

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at 4145 South Alameda Street, the American Bank, at 11:55 this morning.

A bank employee told officers that a suspect entered the bank, presented a note to one of the female tellers that demanded cash.  The bank employee told officers the suspect then displayed a handgun. Once the teller handed over the money, the suspect fled out the front door and went around toward the back of a nearby building.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male, approximately 40 years old, with tattoos on his neck.  He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, and a blue collared shirt.

There was one customer and at least four employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery.  No one inside was injured.

Camera surveillance images of the suspect were provided to police by the bank. This suspect was not captured and the police department is asking for your help identifying this individual.

Corpus Christi Police were contacted after a 62 year old female customer arrived at Commercial Recycling located at 249 Bronco Road with an old military ordinance mortar round.

Employees at the recycling center saw the mortar round after the female had unloaded her 2002 Ford truck that was full of scrap metal.

The area was then blocked off and the police bomb squad was contacted.

The female stated that she found the ordinance while doing some cleaning at her property located in Sandia, TX.

Just after 5 PM the round was retrieved and the bomb squad took possession of the mortar.
