Detectives are Investigating a possible connection between two Aggravated Robberies.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 2800 SPID in reference to a theft in progress. Responding officers were advised that there were people chasing the suspects from the business. Officers arrived and observed several people holding a 16 year old male on the ground. Officers detained the suspect and contacted witnesses. The officers spoke to the 17 year old and 55 year old victims. The victims advised they were working at their business when three males approached, displayed guns, and demanded jewelry. The victims gave the suspects what they wanted and then the suspects fled from the business on foot.  The victims chased the offenders and caught one, holding him for the police while the other two fled the scene. The victims were able to provide officers with the description of the other two suspects. Officers arrested the 16 year old male and transported him to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6000 Ayers in reference to a shooting. Information on the call stated that someone was shot and two suspects fled the scene. Officers arrived and observed a 23 year old male victim who had been shot. The victim advised he did not know the suspect who shot him.   The victim reported that the offender also tried to steal his truck. The victim was transported to Spohn Shoreline for treatment of his injuries. There are no updates on the victims condition at this time.  A witness reported that she saw two males in front of the store prior to hearing a gunshot. She was able to provide very detailed descriptions to the police. She reported that the suspects fled on foot towards a mobile home park.

Officers began searching the area of 5900 Ayers and observed one of the suspects. The officers chased the suspect on foot and were able to take him into custody. As they were chasing the suspect he threw a backpack which was recovered by the officers. A weapon was recovered at the scene. Officers arrested Leonard Reyna (11-3-1994) and continued their investigation.

Officers were in the area of 6100 Ayers checking for the second suspect. Officers were checking the area on foot and contacted a security guard who saw a suspect matching the description a few minutes earlier. Officers walked to the area the suspect was last seen. The officers observed a suspect matching the description talking on a cell phone. Officers contacted and arrested Carlos Moreno (9-21-1993). Both suspects were transported to the main police station for questioning and later booked into the City Detention Center.

Detectives are actively investigating these two events and checking to see if they are related.

Help us Catch this Burglar

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help in catching this suspected burglar. Officers were called to the 5000 block of Cain Dr. in reference to a burglary not in progress. Officers contacted the victim and she told officers that an unknown male took items from a shed behind her residence. The adult male is seen on video pulling up in a red Suzuki and then going to of the rear of the residence. He then forces his way into a shed taking a various tools. The suspect then returns to the vehicle and leaves the scene.

Arrest Made in Double Homicide

On August 19, 2018 at approximately 3:30 pm Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Buford Street after a witness saw a person that they believed to be the suspect from the double homicide that occurred in the 2900 block of Mary Street on 08/17/2018.  Officers arrived, set up a safe perimeter around a residence, and then entered the residence.  They announced that they had a felony warrant.

As officers entered the residence the suspect,  Joe Angel Guerrero (2/27/1989), started to raise a firearm at officers but quickly dropped it. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  Joe Guerrero was arrested for the Capital Murder warrant and additionally charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

He was transported to the City Detention Center and booked on the charges. This is still an active investigation and if anyone has any additional information they are urged to contact the police at 886-2840.

Three suspected burglars arrested in the area of 6100 Pebble Beach.

Corpus Christi Police officers were dispatched to the area of 6100 Pebble Beach in reference to a burglary in progress. Information on the call advised that several witnesses were following the suspects as they were fleeing the scene. An officer arrived and detained one of the suspects who had jewelry and a black hoodie in his possession. Officers were checking the area for the other two male suspects. An officer was flagged down in the area of 4700 Wooldridge by a citizen who advised that she saw a subject run into a back yard. Officers checked the area and located a male suspect, wearing a light blue collared shirt and blue jeans, who appeared to be out of breath on Shea Pkwy near Killarmet. Information was put out that a suspect wearing a grey shirt and dark blue basketball shorts was walking near Everhart and Holly. Officers found the suspect matching the description walking quickly and sweating profusely. All three suspects were detained and transported back to the scene.

Officers contacted the victim of the burglary in the area of 6100 Pebble Beach. The victim advised that she was shocked to find the door to her residence kicked in and her house burglarized. All three suspects were positively identified by witnesses. Officers were also advised that the suspect wearing the light blue collared shirt and jeans threw a gun over a fence on Champions. A handgun was later discovered in a pool in the area of 4600 Champions. Officers arrested Adrian Camacho (4-1-2001), Damon Leija (5-30-2001) and a 16 year old male suspect. Adrian and Damon were transported to the City Detention Center and the juvenile male was transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.

This was an excellent example of the community and CCPD working together to catch these three suspects.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help locating this wanted fugitive. Detectives are looking for 31 year old Jeremiah Justice Bryant (10-30-1986). He is wanted for aggravated assault in reference to a shooting that happened in the area of 10600 Larkwood on July 5, 2018.

Jeremiah is 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing 165 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. The warrant is for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and has a $100,000 bond.

Suspect arrested for Murder after body was found wrapped in a blanket.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 7300 McArdle in reference to a body wrapped up in a blanket. Officers arrived and contacted the reporting party who showed officers the location of the body. Officers observed a 48 year old female wrapped in a blanket under a tree and some bushes. The responding officers checked the status of the female victim and found that she was deceased. The officers secured the crime scene and called the Criminal Investigations Division. Detectives and officers checked the area and were able to contact a male suspect. The suspect was transported to the main police station for questioning. Detectives questioned the suspect and were able develop enough probable cause to arrest John Smith (11/12/1964) for murder. John Smith was transported to the City Detention Center and booked.

Vector Control Will Begin Treating for Mosquitoes

Starting Saturday June 23, 2018, Vector control will begin treating standing water throughout the city with larvicide. They will then monitor the mosquito traps across the city and start the process of spraying the adult mosquitoes.

Vector Control is asking the public to help them by taking care of your property. Remember the 5 D’s of Defense:

DEET – Use insect repellent containing DEET.
DRESS – Dress in long sleeves and pants when you’re outside.
DAWN, DAYTIME and DUSK – Dawn, Daytime and Dusk are the times of day when mosquitoes are most active. Avoid being outside during these times of day to prevent bites.
DRAIN – Regularly drain standing water, including water that collects in empty cans, tires, buckets, clogged rain gutters and saucers under potted plants. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water.
DOCTOR – Consult a physician if you feel sick after being bitten.

 

 

 

Couple Arrested on Capital Murder Charges

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Robin Dr. in reference to an unconscious child with CPR in progress. The Officers arrived and were informed by CCFD Medics that the 4-year-old male was deceased. Officers observed the child inside the house and saw bruising on his body. Officers immediately secured the scene and detained a 26-year-old female and a 28-year-old male. Detectives were called to the scene and transported the two suspects to the main station to be interviewed. Detectives developed enough probable cause to arrest Amanda Rose Pinon (07-02-1991) and Michael Duty (12-12-1989) for capital murder. Michael Duty was also found to have 2 warrants for his arrest. Both suspects were transported to the City Detention Center and booked on the charges. Two other children that were inside the residence were placed in temporary custody of Child Protective Services. Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this suspected armed robber. Officers were called to the 3000 block of Waldron and made contact with the convenience store clerk. The clerk stated that a Hispanic male came into the store with a rifle and demanded the cash drawer. The clerk complied and the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.

Stripes Suspect

The suspect was described to be approx. 25-35 years of age, medium height with a large build. He had short hair, tattoos on his right upper arm and left waist area. The clerk was not injured and the suspect was last seen running North on Waldron.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this suspected thief. Officers were called when a victim realized that he had left his wallet at the store. He went back and was unable to locate his wallet. The manager accessed the video surveillance and was able to locate the theft. The victim purchased items and let his wallet on the counter. A male suspect in a grey hooded sweatshirt approaches the checkout. He purchases some items and notices the wallet. As he is paying for his items, he grabs the wallet and then leaves the store.
