Patrol Report March 31, 2017

Offense: Recovered Stolen Vehicle,
Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information

An auto theft task force detective was in the area of 6100 S. Staples in reference to a stolen vehicle. The detective observed a 2013 Mazda 3 that had been stolen on March 16 and it was occupied by two subjects. The detective followed the vehicle and updated the dispatcher of his location until backup officers arrived. The marked patrol units arrived and conducted a felony stop and detained the two occupants. Detectives investigated and arrested the driver Abel Salazar (06-10-1971) for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A search incident to arrest revealed the suspect had a couple of checks and credit cards that did not belong to him in his possession. The suspect was transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to Williams and Airline for an assault that just occurred. Officers contacted the 25 year old female victim who was being treated by a CCFD Medic. The victim was upset and crying and advised that she and the 49 year old female suspect got into a fight. The victim advised that the suspect came home drunk and the began arguing over the television. The victim advised that the argument escalated into a fight and the suspect punched her in the left eye. The suspect then pushed her down to the ground, got on top of her and began choking her to the point it was difficult to breath. The suspect then poked the victims eye and bit her hand and arm. The victim pushed the suspect off of her and contacted the police. The victim was transported to Bay Area Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Officers then contacted the suspect who appeared to have just gotten out of the shower. Officers stated that they could detect an odor of alcohol coming from the suspect. They also observed minor abrasions to the suspects knees. After speaking with the suspect officers arrested Sylvia Labat (09-30-1967) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

 

 

 

 

Tragic Crash on US Highway 181

Incident: Fatality Crash

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a major accident on the 4900 block of SH 181 in the Southbound lanes. Officers arrived and discovered a white Chrysler 200 that had caught on fire and a black Chevy Camaro were involved in the crash. The fire was extinguished by responding fire fighters. Officers discovered that the 25 year old female driver of the Camaro and the 33 year old male driver of the Chrysler were both deceased. Follow up investigators arrived on the scene and determined that the Chrysler 200 was traveling the wrong way (Northbound in a Southbound lane) on the highway striking the Chevy Camaro. Investigators believe that both victims died on impact.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and at this time have not been able to determine where and how the driver of the Chrysler got on the highway. Both of the deceased have been transported to the medical examiners office. This is still an ongoing investigation and we will release more information when it becomes available.

Suspect Accused of Filming Up a Skirt Arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were sent to the HEB on Saratoga Blvd. in reference to a male suspect filming or taking pictures up a females dress. The officers made contact with the store management and they showed officers the video of the suspect in the act. In the video the suspect was confronted by the victim and another female. The suspect then runs out of the store and drives away in his vehicle before he was confronted by store employees. The staff at HEB was able to provide the license plate to the suspects vehicle.

Corpus Christi Detectives were assigned the case, investigated and were able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect. On  March 28, 2017 at approximately 11:31 AM, the offender turned himself in at the Nueces County Jail and was arrested by jail personnel.

The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to let our citizens know that these types of crimes are not common but they do happen. We advise you to be aware of your surroundings and if you witness this type of crime, alert the victim and call the police.

Patrol Report March 28, 2017

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Staples and Elizabeth in reference to a disturbance in progress. The call was updated stating a male and female were struggling beside a truck and a male was trying to put her in a vehicle and the female appeared to be trying to get away. The vehicle was last seen going towards Ocean Drive on Elizabeth. The description given was an older model grey truck with a blonde female wearing a yellow shirt. Officers went towards Ocean Drive in an effort to intercept the truck.

Officers located a truck matching the description provided traveling North on Ocean Dr. When the patrol unit was behind the suspect vehicle the officer noticed that the 28 year old female victim was trying to wave the officer down in order to get his attention. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Ocean Drive. Immediately as the vehicle stopped, the female exited the vehicle in order to get away from the male suspect. The suspect attempted to exit the vehicle but was told to stay inside the truck to which he complied. The suspect was contacted and was observed to be sweaty and shaking. Officers detained the suspect while they conducted their investigation. The victim stated that the suspect (her boyfriend) picked her up from work. While they were driving home the suspect was on the phone yelling and cussing at someone. The victim stated she told the suspect she wanted out of the truck and no longer wanted to be his girlfriend due to his unstable behavior. The victim exited the truck and was confronted by the suspect who physically lifted her to force her in the truck. The victim tried to resist but could not get away from the suspect. She tried to put her feet against the door frame but was forced into the vehicle against her will. The suspect left the scene and the victim told the suspect she was going to jump out of the vehicle. The suspect stated that he was going to speed up to 100 miles per hour so she could no jump out. The victim stated that she attempted to flag down other people when she saw the officer and flagged him down. Officers contacted the witness who confirmed the victims story to the point she was forced into the truck. Officers arrested Ronnie Armstrong (05-31-1983) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Belmeade and Hugo Drive in reference to a assault in progress. Dispatchers updated the call and advised that the male was on top of the female hitting her. Another update came in that the male was chasing the female. Officers arrived and observed the 19 year old male suspect running. Officers gave several commands for the suspect to stop but he continued to run. Officers caught the suspect and took him into custody.

Officers contacted the 18 year old female victim who was crying and stated that the suspect (her boyfriend) choked her. Officers observed the victim to have injuries to her face, neck, arms and legs. The victim advised that they were at the suspects residence when the victim started getting text messages about going into work. The suspect became upset and took the victims phone accusing her of cheating on him. The victim stated that she told the suspect she began working at a local night club. The suspect became angry and started hitting the victim. They went outside where the suspect tackled the victim and he started to choke her. The victim did not lose consciousness but was having a hard time breathing. The victim tried to calm the suspect down and go to a park and talk but the suspect continued to assault her. The victim advised that everything happened so quickly she did know how many times she was struck. Officers contacted a witness who confirmed the victims story of the assaults that happened outside the residence. The victim was treated at the scene by CCFD medics. Officers arrested Nicholas Ray Brown (01-11-1998) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Aggravated Assault

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was patrolling in the area of Carroll Ln and Gollihar. The officer pulled behind a vehicle which quickly pulled into a parking lot without signaling. The officer followed the vehicle on SPID and observed the vehicle quickly change lanes without signaling and then make another signaling infraction. The officer activated the emergency overhead equipment and stop the vehicle. The officer make contact with the occupants of the vehicle.

As the officer contacted the occupants he immediately could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. He also observed the 29 year old male driver to have dried blood on both hands, a scratch to his face and blood on his shirt. He observed the 27 year old female passenger to have blood on her knees, arms and appeared to have some blood under her nose. Officers detained the male driver while they investigated. The officers learned that the couple had been arguing earlier at the mall. The suspect (male driver) thought that the victim had been cheating on him. The victim stated that the suspect punched her with a closed fist several times as well as backhanding her. During the questioning the officers observed the victim to have a bloody nose and a swollen lip. The victim tried to defend herself to stop the suspect from assaulting her. The suspect picked up a beer bottle striking the victim in the head several times until it broke causing a laceration. Medics checked and treated the victim at the scene. Officers arrested Jose Arrambide (12-06-1987) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities

Corpus Christ Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 100 Whiteley in reference to a disturbance with shots fired. Officers were advised that a male was observed getting out of the water near Bluffs Landing (4200 Laguna Shores), coming from a boat that was stuck on a sandbar a few hundred feet away. Officers received a description a male walking with no shirt or shoes wearing black shorts.  Officers checked the area and located that suspect walking Northbound in the area of 4200 Laguna Shores. The officers observed a handgun in his left hand and a electronic device in the other. Officers gave commands and safely detained the suspect. Officers went back to the area of 100 Whiteley and contacted the complainants. The officers were informed that the suspect and another person were on the boat when it got stuck. The suspect kept revving the engine and was told to stop before he damaged the motor. The other person took the keys from the suspect and refused to give them back. The suspect then fired two rounds into the water. Officers contacted several other witnesses that observed the suspect fire the rounds in the water. Officers arrested Anthony Bowlin (02-10-1976) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was flagged down in the area of S. Port and Buford by a woman screaming for help. The officer contacted the 32 year old female victim who advised him that she was being held against her will at a house on the 2800 block of Ruth St. The victim told offices that she needed a place to stay for a couple of days and the 35 year old male suspect allowed her to stay there. The victim stated that on Saturday (03-25-2017) the victim told the suspect that she was leaving to which he replied “no you’re not.” On Sunday (03-26-2017) she stated that the suspect began to act strange. She said she wanted to leave and the suspect threatened her with a knife. When she tried to leave the suspect threatened to cut her up if she tried to leave. The victim stated that the suspect would not let her out of his sight and kept her in the back bedroom. The victim stated that when the suspect would leave that he would make her go with him. The victim stated that the suspect kept threatening to hurt her and showing her a knife.

The victim stated that she was with the suspect when she saw the police unit. He told her to get in the car and pulled a knife on her. The victim broke loose and ran screaming for the police car. The suspect chased her but stopped when he saw the police unit turn around. Officers went to the area of 28oo Ruth Street and located the suspect sitting inside a vehicle. Officers detained the suspect and continued their investigation. Officers were able to establish that the victim had been at the residence and had the Crime Scene Unit process the crime scene. Officers arrested David Nino (12-05-1981) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Can You Identify These Auto Burglars?

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying these auto burglars. The suspects are seen stopping in the street in a Dodge Neon that was possibly stolen from the 4200 blk of Markins drive. The suspects are seen exiting the vehicle and approaching two cars in the driveway. The suspects go through the bed and tool box of a pickup and check the doors of a passenger car. The suspects took some tools and miscellaneous items and left the scene.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 600 Texan Trail in reference a disturbance with a weapon. The call stated that the complainant was going to wait for them at the Whataburger at the corner of Texan Trail and Alameda. Officers arrived and could not locate the complainant. Dispatchers could not contact the complainant by phone so the officers quickly went to the address at 600 Texan Trail. Officers arrived but got no answer and observed a broken window. Officers went to the back of the apartment and located the 41 year old male suspect and the 34 year old female victim who was crying hysterically.

Officers separated the two and spoke to the victim. The victim advised that the suspect had been staying with her for about a week. She stated that when she asked him to leave he refused. She advised that the suspect held her down against her will on the bedroom floor. He would not let her leave and covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming. The victim advised she managed to get up and broke the bedroom window so she could be heard as she cried for help. The suspect again covered her mouth and also took out a knife and threatened to stab her and told her he wasn’t leaving. The victim feared for her safety and believed that the suspect was going to stab her. Officers arrested Robert Alvarado (01-21-1976) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the area of Mussett and Lotus in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival officers were given a description of a suspect carrying a couple bags and wearing a white shirt. Officers checked the area and located the suspect and detained him. The 36 year old male suspect was found to have a rusted razor blade in his back pocket.

The 20 year old victim had been transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officers contacted her at the hospital. The victim stated that she was in her car and observed a male walking in the parking lot and looking into cars. The victim called police, leaned her seat back and watched the suspect while she was on the phone with dispatchers. The victim stated that the suspect came up to her car and attempted to open her door. The victim began to honk her and her brother came out to assist her. The victim stated that they were attempting to keep the suspect from leaving until police arrived. The victim stated that the suspect reached into his pocket and came at her in a stabbing motion. The victim was unable to get away and was stabbed several times to her back and torso.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Officers arrested Armando Davila Jr. (09-02-1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

 

 

 

Updated Images and Video of Attempted Kidnapping Suspect

On 03/02/17, just after 6:00 a.m. a 56-year-old female was walking North in the 900 Blk of Carmel Pkwy when a tall black male wearing green attempted to force the victim into his car.  Fortunately, the victim was able to get away.  The suspect fled west on Ft. Worth street in a Black vehicle with Chrome Rims.
