Patrol Report November 2, 2016

Incident: Forgery/Fraud

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 500 N. Tancahua on reference to subjects in a grey Kia trying to withdraw money from another persons account. Officers arrived and observed a grey Kia in the drive through with two male occupants. As officers approached the vehicle the observed the suspects drop items on the floor board. Officers detained the subjects as they investigated.

Officers made contact with the drive through teller. She stated that the suspects were trying to withdraw a large amount of money from an account. The teller was given id for the transaction and tried to verify the ID via the camera system. The driver did not match  the ID and the signatures were also different. The teller asked if the account holder was in the car and the passenger raised his hand to acknowledge. The teller contacted her supervisor who then contacted the police.

Officers identified the suspects and neither of them were the account holder and the account holder was not in the car. Officers arrested Robert D. Wills (03/30/1983) and Nicholas R. Stevick (01/05/1991) for forgery and fraud. They were also found to be in possession methamphetamine and heroin and other credit cards that did not belong to them. They were additionally charged and transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 5400 SPID to the Target in reference a robbery. Information came in that the suspect was standing in front of anouther near by store. Officers arrived and detained the suspect. When he was placed in handcuffs he became irate and began cursing and yelling at officers. The suspect was taken back to Target to be identified. The suspect was identified and in his pockets was jewelry taken from the store.

Loss prevention employees stated that they observed the suspect take various items from the store. He was confronted and taken to loss prevention room. They were able to retrieve all the items except the jewelry. The suspect tried to leave several times and then pinned one of the employees against the wall and threatened him multiple times. Officers arrested Michael Pugh (01/11/1975) for robbery and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Incident: Burglary to a Motor Vehicle

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 5100 IH 37 Access in reference to a suspicious subject possibly with a bag of weapons. Officers arrived and contacted the male subject in a white Chevy Impala at the 7 Eleven. The observed a back pack containing tools and a cell phone in the floor board where the subject was sitting. The subject was detained while officers investigated.

Officers checked the area to see where the tools might have been taken. Officers located a white Ford F-250 work truck at the La Quinta Inn. The drivers side lock was broken and the door was unlocked. Officers contacted the operator of the truck. He stated that a bag of tools and a work phone was gone. The victim went to the 7 Eleven with officers and identified the items to be his property. Officers arrested Richard Trevino III (11/21/1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Incident: Burglary of a Habitation

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 800 Furman in reference to a burglary in progress. A officer arrived an heard what sounded like someone rummaging through property. The officer observed a male subject run out the front door. The officer was able to stop and detain the suspect. Other officers arrived and cleared the house. The officers located the 25 year old female victim and her 6 month old baby hiding in the bathroom.

The victim stated that she was asleep when she heard someone trying to open her bedroom door. The victim stated that she grabbed her baby and hid in the bathroom and called police. The victim stated that she heard the rear window open up and could hear someone going through her property. Officers told her that the screen to the rear window had been removed. The victim told officers that the screen was on the window and should not have been lying on the ground. The victim also stated that no one should have been inside her house. Officers arrested Joe C. Galindo (04/12/1975). During a search of the suspect, officers located jewelry in the suspects pocket that belonged to the victim. Joe Galindo was transported to the City Detention Center.

Incident: Terroristic Threat-Displaying a weapon

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 1700 Lemonwood in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. Officers arrived and made contact with the victims. The victims, 31 year old male and a 20 year old female, stated that they were walking through Candlewood Park, They stated that they were approached by three male that told them they needed to leave the park. The victims stated that they were trying to locate the owner of two stray dogs when they were told to leave. The victims ran across the street to call the police. While they were knocking on the door, 3 males approached them in a black Chevy Avalanche. One of the suspects displayed a gun and stated to both victims that he was going to get them. The suspects fled in an unknown direction. The victims did not know the suspects.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was flagged down at 3900 Greenwood in reference to a male assaulting a female at 2600 Belton Street. The officer went to Belton St. and observed a female sitting near a red car and a male subject subject sitting in the drivers seat. The officer observed the 49 year old female victim to be crying. The officer identified and detained the 29 year old male suspect.

The victim advised on 10/28/2016 at approx 2:00 PM she was at the Stripes at Ayers and Tarlton. She stated she went inside and when she returned the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, was sitting in her car. The victim told the suspect several times to get out of the vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and forced the victim inside vehicle by grabbing her hair. The suspect then fled the scene with the victim. The suspect drove around the neighborhood. He then pulled over and taped the victims hands and wrists. The victim stated that the suspect drove around to several places stealing various items and selling them. The victim stated that the suspect would not let her leave and kept her overnight.

On 10/29/2016 the suspect put the victim in the vehicle and drove around with her. At some point the suspect removed the tape from her hands. The victim stated that the suspect bought her some food. She tried to escape but the suspect forced her back into the car. When they were driving in the area of 2600 Belton the victim jumped out of the car and ran down the street. The suspect chased her knocking her to the ground and hitting her about the face and body. Shortly after the police arrived. The victim had injuries about her body and injuries to her hands and wrists. Officers arrested Edwardo Quezada (12/20/1986) and transported him to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 5200 Crosstown Access in reference to a destruction in progress. The suspects were two males one wearing a grey hoodie and black pants and the other wearing a black jacket and black pants. The suspects were under the overpass spray painting graffiti.

Officers arrived and observed two males matching the exact description that was given. Officers observed several poles that appeared to have fresh paint markings on them. Offices activated the emergency lights on the patrol unit to contact the two suspects. A 20 year old male suspect took off running towards Ayers St. An officer gave chase and gave numerous commands to stop. The suspect continued running and went up the embankment and onto the freeway. Due to the danger to the suspect and officers, the officer stopped chasing the suspect.

Officers contacted the 19 year old male suspect. He was near fresh paint markings  He was detained by officers. Officers checked the area for the suspect that had run away. The officer walked up the embankment and observed the suspect. The officer safely crossed the road and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was found to have several pairs of latex gloves on him. The gloves are worn to prevent getting paint on their hands. Upon further investigation officers observed two cans of spray paint on the ground where officers initially observed the suspects. There was a odor of spray paint in the air and fresh paint markings on approximately 11 other poles in the area. Officers arrested Dagoberto Cantu (03/23/1997) and Fernando Cavazos (12/23/1995) and transported them to the City Detention Center.

Officer Involved Shooting 300 N. Shoreline

At 8:36 am Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area 400 N. Shoreline in reference to several calls about multiple gunshots fired in that area. Officers arrived at 8:40 am and advised that a white male suspect was walking towards the 300 block of N. Shoreline. Preliminary reports state that the suspect was pointing a handgun at citizens and cars as he was walking.

Officers arrived at 300 N. Shoreline at 8:44 am. The officers confronted the suspect who engaged the officers with a handgun. Officers responded and fired at the suspect, striking the 23 year old male. The suspect was transported to Spohn Memorial where he succumbed to his injuries.

The officer involved shooting investigation is ongoing. Witnesses and officers are being interviewed. More information will be released at the appropriate time.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 7600 Everhart in reference to a theft not in progress. An employee came to work and observed the propane storage cage to have the doors forced open and several propane tanks were gone. There was video on the incident.

The suspect was about 5′ 7″ tall, bald head, checkered shirt, jeans and dark shoes.

Robbery Suspect Caught

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3500 SPID in reference to a robbery not in progress. Officers arrived and contacted the employees of the restaurant.

The employees advised that a male suspect came into the kitchen area which is not public access. The suspect covered his face with the lower half of his grey shirt. The suspect demanded money from one of the employees. The employees stated the the suspect became verbally aggressive and told them to “F’n give it to me now”! One of the other employees realized that the suspect was trying to rob them and began to push the suspect out the back door. The suspect began to fight back. As they were fighting one employee got behind the suspect and pulled him outside and shut the door. The owner was in the parking lot and realized what was happening. He observed the suspect get into a maroon Ford van and drive away. The owner followed the suspect and got a license plate before he lost the suspect.

Officers ran the LP and went to the area of 4800 Mokry to an address associated with the car. The suspect arrived a short time later and was taken into custody. Officers arrested Frank Sanchez (10/12/1966) and transported him to the City Detention Center. One employee received a large scratch to his left tricep during the struggle.

 

 

Narcotics Officers serve a Search Warrant near 4500 Nicholson

At about 0800 hours this morning, investigators from the Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigations Division served a search and arrest warrant at 4500 Nicholson.  This warrant was the result of a several month-long investigation into drug dealing from that location.

During the search, investigators recovered approximately 68 grams of methamphetamine, 4.9 grams of powdered cocaine, and just under an ounce of hydroponic marijuana, scales and a drug ledger.  Also recovered were two fully loaded pistols and an AK-47 style rifle.  Investigators seized a Chevrolet Tahoe and a quantity of jewelry believed to have been purchased with income from the sale of drugs by the suspects.

Arrested were Reynaldo Chavira (6-27-86) and Roxanna Chavira (5-17-87).  Both were charged with First Degree Felony Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance PG1 and possession of marijuana and transported to the City Detention Center.  The suspects are facing possible enhancement of the charges as the residence is just down the street from Mike Zepeda Park.

Patrol Report October 26, 2016

Incident: Burglary/Evading Detention

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 5900 Weber in reference to a burglary in progress. Officers were advised that there were 2 males looking into a apartment. As officers arrived they observed a rear window to be broken.

Officers observed a male stick his head out of the broken window. Officers ordered the suspect to come out of the apartment. The suspect went back inside and tried to go out the front door. The officers were waiting at the front door and the suspect went back inside. The suspect went out the back window and began running through the complex. While running the male suspect was carrying a grey and black backpack. Officers continued to give chase and took the suspect into custody behind one of the buildings.

Officers also contacted a male wearing red cut off pants and a white muscle shirt in the area of the burglary. He was breathing heavily and sweating. He was detained and identified by a witness as one of the suspects involved. Officers arrested Christopher Parker (12/07/1993) and Theodore Wolridge (02/27/1995) for burglary. The back pack was searched and found to have magazine filled with ammunition and several plastic baggies containing what officers believed to be marijuana. The suspects were charged with burglary, evading detention and possession of marijuana and transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Officers were in the area of 200 Montclair looking for a wanted suspect out of Goliad County for assault family violence. Officers prior to contacting the suspect familiarized themselves with the suspects description and had a picture to positively identify him. Officers arrived  and positioned themselves around the house.

As officers knocked on the front door the suspect exited the rear door. An officer at the rear of the residence saw the suspect and shined his flashlight and positively identified the suspect. He was ordered to stop. The suspect went back inside with the officers in hot pursuit. Officers arrested Thomas Berry (09/09/1981) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Incident: Warrant of Arrest/Evading Detention

Corpus Christi Police Officers were contacted by three subjects in the area of 2100 Morgan. The three subjects were trying to sell officers a $10 lotto ticket. The officers suspicious of the activity checked the subjects and found that one had an outstanding probation violation warrant. The wanted suspect took off running but was quickly apprehended. Officers arrested Trinidad Garcia Rayos (12/21/1994) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

NARCOTICS OFFICERS RAID SOUTHSIDE DRUG OPERATION

CCPD Narcotics officers believe they disrupted a major drug distribution operation after serving a search warrant Friday afternoon at an apartment in the 3800 block of Caravelle Parkway. The search warrant was the culmination of a long term undercover investigation of the occupants and their involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics in the City of Corpus Christi.

During the search of the apartment investigators seized approximately 18.5 lbs of synthetic cannabinoid, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, ½ ounce of crack cocaine, 2.71 grams of powdered cocaine, and 2 ounces of marijuana, along with $7257.00 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug dealing.

In addition to the illicit drugs and cash, Officers seized multiple firearms, including five assault rifles, two shotguns, nine handguns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.  Two sets of body armor were located in the apartment as well.

Arrested during the raid were Longino Garcia Castillo (DOB: 5-22-90), Mary Beth Zamora (DOB: 9-3-90), Isaiah Martinez (DOB: 5-25-97), Summer Escamilla (DOB: 4-23-99), and Serena Escamilla (DOB: 10-13-91). All five face felony charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, a first degree felony punishable by from five to ninety-nine years in prison. Zamora was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon, both felonies.

The large amount of seized drugs, cash and weaponry suggests this was a large scale supplier of synthetic cannabis and other narcotics within Corpus Christi. CCPD Narcotics Investigators continue to target such dealers to combat the proliferation of synthetic cannabis in our community. Narcotics Investigators will continue to pursue leads as a result of this operation and are confident that more arrests and seizures will follow.

Patrol Report October 24, 2016

Incident: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 4400 Kostoryz Rd in reference to a roll over traffic accident. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle that was upside down with a female inside. Officers communicated with the 50 year old female suspect while waiting for CCFD to arrive and free her from the vehicle. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and observed a beer bottle in her purse.

Witnesses to the accident advised that the victim vehicle and the suspect vehicle were traveling on Gollihar when the suspect vehicle hit the victim vehicle from behind causing the suspect vehicle to flip over.

The suspect was removed from the vehicle and transported to Spohn Memorial for treatment. The officer had enough probable cause to believe the suspect was intoxicated and was able to get a blood sample. The suspect was admitted into the hospital for treatment.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 3200 Foley in reference to a suspect threatening to shoot people. Officers arrived and were advised that the 44 year old male suspect was causing a disturbance inside a bar. The suspect was blocking another persons vehicle, when he was asked to move his vehicle he told the victim “I’m going to shoot you.” The suspect then drove away in a dark green Chevy Avalance.

Officers searched the area and located the vehicle in the area of 4800 Ayers Street. The officer activated his emergency equipment to conduct the traffic stop. The suspect vehicle pulled into a parking lot and to the rear of a bar and parked his truck. The suspect exited the vehicle, looked at the officer and refused to follow commands to stay in the truck. The suspect took off running inside the bar then out the front door. The officer gave chase and caught the suspect at Ayers and McArdle. Officers arrested Eric Garcia (12/24/1971) for evading detention and terroristic threats and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 4600 Yolanda in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted the 51 year old male victim and the 35 year old male suspect. Officers detained the suspect. The victim advised that he came home and observed the saw the suspect going through his vehicle. He yelled at the suspect who then ran into a room attached to his house. The victim called for the suspect to come out and that is when he called the police. The victim noticed a air compressor was set by a door and that some drawers to a toll box were open. Officers arrested Hermilo Xavier Garza (12/08/1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 4400 Sunlight Dr in reference to a assault in progress. As officers were en route, the call was updated that the victim was on the phone and the suspect was making threats towards the victim. Officers arrived and contacted the 42 year old male suspect and the 54 year old female victim.

The suspect was upset  and as he spoke to officers they could detect a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The victim advised that the suspect is her boyfriend of 6 months and they were having an argument. She stated that the suspect was drinking, acting strange and yelling at her for everything. The victim told the suspect that she was going to leave. The suspect became extremely confrontational and got in the victims face. The suspect then bit the victim on the nose causing redness and pain. The victim called police and went outside to wait for them to arrive. Officers arrested Shelby Alexander Davis (01/24/1974) and transported him to the City Detention Center.
