Officer Involved Shooting

UPDATE: The suspect in the shooting, Aaron Granberry DOB 7-5-1979) was released from the hospital and booked at CDC today.

Date: 04/05/2015            12:30  AM Location: 4200 Santa Fe Offense: Attempted Capital Murder P.C. 19.03       (1st Degree Felony) Case Number: 1504050010 On 04-04-2015 at approximately 10:15 PM, Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery of an individual in the area of 1700 Robin Drive. The victim had been pistol whipped and some personal property was taken. A suspect vehicle description was given to investigating officers. On 04-05-2015 at approximately 12:09 AM CCPD officers observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle fled and CCPD officers gave chase. The vehicle continued until it came to a sudden stop at Santa Fe and Robert drive. At approximately 12:30 AM the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Corpus Christi Police Officers chased the suspect. At some point during the foot pursuit, the suspect pointed a handgun at the officers. The officers fired, striking the suspect several times. The suspect was taken into custody. CCPD officers began first aid until Corpus Christi Fire Department medics arrived and transported the suspect to Spohn Memorial Hospital. The 4 officers involved will be placed on administrative leave as per department policy while the investigation is being conducted. The suspect is undergoing surgery and at this time is listed in serious condition. Any additional information will be released through the Corpus Christi Police Department Public Information Office.

Stabbing at Local Club

Corpus Christi Police responded to a walk in stabbing victim at Spohn Memorial Hospital. The 39 year old male victim had several stab wounds to the upper torso and was taken to surgery and listed in serious condition.

Witnesses advised that earlier there was a disturbance at McCaws on Weber and the victim left the scene and went to 4650 Kostoryz at the Meet Me Midway Club. Two suspects followed the victim to the club on Kostoryz. The victim and the suspects went into the parking lot where a fight started and at this point the victim was stabbed several times. The suspects then fled the scene in a white pickup truck on Kostoryz towards Gollihar.

One suspect is described as a stocky male, bald headed with a goatee and wearing a dark t-shirt. The other suspect is a thin male, with short bushy hair, possible facial hair and wearing a white t-shirt.

Amber Alert Issued for Missing 6 year old

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 2002 Yorktown in reference to a missing child. Officers contacted the adult relative of the child who stated that she got up at approximately 4:30am to check something in the kitchen. When she checked on the children that were staying with her she noticed that 6 year old Kloe Donohoo   was gone. She then discovered that the suspect 19 year old Austin Carlin and her van were also gone. Police are actively searching for this child.

The van is a white Dodge Caravan LP 6BZXV. If you have any information or you spot the vehicle and missing child, please call 911.

UPDATE.

At approximately 11:20am Kloe Donohoo was located safe and sound. A DPS Trooper was on I-10 near Ozona Texas and observed the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident. Corpus Christi Police Detectives are on the way to scene to interview the suspect and facilitate the reunion of Kloe and her parents.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank all those who assisted in the recover of Kloe. A press conference is in the works and will planned later today.

Homicide at Fishing Pier

Date: Thursday, February 20, 2015, 2:22am Location: 11645 SPID Offense: Murder Case Number: 1502200012 Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the CosWay fishing pier in reference to a shooting. Responding officers located a 37 year old male victim who had been shot several times. The officers began CPR but the victim did not survive his wounds. CCPD homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses.

At approximately 4:41am officers were contacted at 321 John Sartain, The Main Police station, by a subject claiming to be involved in the shooting. The 29 year old male suspect was arrested for this latest homicide.

Fishermen Discover Body

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 1700 Laguna Shores in reference to a body discovered in the water. The responding officers contacted a couple of fishermen. They advised that they were on their way out to wade fish when the discovered a body floating in the water and called police.

The medical examiners office, detectives and the forensics unit were called to process the scene.  The deceased male was not identified due to the condition of the body. The medical examiner will work to identify the male and determine the cause of death.  Once an identification is made, detectives will work to bring closure to this case.

Police Stop Forgery Operation

Corpus Christi Police Officers were called to 601 N. Water, Hotel Corpus Christi, in reference to a possible forgery. Officers arrived and contacted the hotel staff. They advised that the people that rented the room had checked out and the room was set to be cleaned. When the cleaning staff went to the room they noticed a printer and sheets of printed money on the bed. They left the room and called the police.

CCPD officers went to the room and found that it was locked from the inside. They knocked on the door and a male suspect answered. The suspect bolted past officers and after a brief foot chase was taken into custody. One officer was slightly injured during the foot pursuit. Officers contained the room and got a search warrant to collect the evidence. Ernesto Vela (DOB 5-26-1976) was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center.

 

Narcotics Warrant Served

After a lengthy investigation, the CCPD Narcotics Vice Investigation Division served a search warrant at 818 Bloomington on Thursday January 8, 2015 at about 6pm.  The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 22.5 pounds of marijuana with an approximate value of $11,250.  Officers seized a Glock 9mm pistol as well as over $2000 in cash and a large amount of gold jewelry.  The owners/residents of the home, Juan Jose Livas (10-13-86) and his wife, Crystal Livas (3-4-88) were both arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3100 Alta Gigonella St. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered a 33 year old male victim. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victim later succumbed to his wounds.

Officers detained witnesses,  CCPD Homicide Detectives arrived and began their investigation. Witnesses were transported to the main police station to be interviewed. Detectives are still in the early stages of this investigation. More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

An off duty Corpus Christi Police Officer working at Spohn Memorial Hospital was contacted by the staff in reference a walk in assault. The officer made contact with the 22 year old male victim. The victim advised that he was a party in a crowded room and felt someone trying to take his wallet from his pocket. The victim confronted the person he believed to be person attempting to take his wallet. The victim advised that he was hit from behind and knocked unconscious.

A witness came forward later that morning and advised he saw the entire incident. He advised that the party was so large that people were jammed into every room. The witness stated that he saw the confrontation and saw the male suspect hit the victim several times in the head and was stomped a couple more times to the head when he was on the ground.

The victim had his ID, credit card and some cash taken. He also had some broken bones to his face. The witness was able to name and describe the suspects involved.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 600 Elizabeth in reference to a walk in stabbing. Officers made contact with the 41 year old male victim who had a stab wound to the right side of his abdomen. The victim stated that he was in the parking lot of 4855 S. Alameda (Bay Bar and Grill) and observed people come running out of the bar. The victim stated that an unknown male looked at him and then stabbed him.

The victim did not have much more information and was going in and out of consciousness. The victim was left with medical staff for treatment. CCPD detectives will follow up once the victim has been medically treated.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Vera Cruz in reference to a disturbance in progress. Officers contacted all parties involved. Witnesses from Vera Cruz stated that suspects driving a white Chevy Cobalt were involved in a disturbance with them earlier where they tried to start a fight. The subjects in the Chevy left stating that they would be back.

Later the victims from 200 Vera Cruz stated that they saw the Chevy Cobalt return and a subject inside the vehicle pointing a gun at the house. No shots were fired and nobody was injured. Officers stopped the Chevy Cobalt but did not locate a weapon. The victims were uncooperative with the responding police offices.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to 2300 Agnes in reference to an assault. Officers contacted the 42 year old male victim. The victim stated that he was walking in the area of 1600 Agnes when he was approached by two male subjects.  The suspects demanded money from the victim. When the victim told them he did not have any money, the suspects knocked the victim to the ground. The suspects hit him in the head with a pipe and also kicked him and punched him several times.  The suspects checked him for money and fled in an unknown direction.

The victim had a large gash to his head and had pain to his abdomen. The victim advised that he could identify the suspects. He was transported to Spohn Memorial for treatment. The area was checked but officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Corpus Christi Police Officer D. May was on patrol in the area of 5300 Sharpsburg Rd. when he observed an abandoned vehicle in the brush.  Officer May observed the vehicle to be stuck in the mud and a gun safe with its door pried off directly behind the truck. Officers observed  boards under the tires which were used in an attempt to get the vehicle out of the mud.

The vehicle was checked and found to be stolen. There was also property inside the vehicle from a burglary in Nueces County (County Case # 1406297) and a auto burglary (case # 1411220070). The vehicle was processed for evidence. No suspects were located at the scene of this crime.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the area of 3800 Los Arroyos for a disturbance. Officers contacted the complainant who advised that he was having a disturbance with his intoxicated step-daughter. Officers attempted to contact the suspect, Melissa Plumb (7/9/1975), but were having a hard time communicating with her because she was intoxicated.

Officers were talking with the complainant about getting Melissa help, when she walked out of her room and started arguing with offices and the complainant. When officers mentioned contacting her probation officer, Melissa became irate and told one officer she wanted to punch him. While the officer was telling Melissa to go back to her room, she clinched her fist and struck the officer twice.

Melissa was arrested for assault on a public servant. She was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Nueces County for assault family violence with a bond of $10,000. Melissa was transported to the City Detention Center.

Officers responded to the area of 1400 Marguerite St. in reference to a assault with injuries. Officers arrived and made contact with the 28 year old victim. She stated that she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend and he left prior to police arriving. Officers observed the victim to be bleeding from a bump on the back of her head.

The victim stated that she has been having problems with her ex-boyfriend for a long time and he will not leave her alone. The victim stated that she was getting something to eat when she heard  loud banging  from outside her house. The victim stated that it was extremely loud and it was scaring her children. The victim got a bat to protect herself and looked out the window but did not see anyone. When she opened the door the suspect ran up and hit her in the back of the head with a skate board. The suspect then fled the scene.

As officers were talking with the victim, other patrol officers were checking the area for the suspect. The suspect, Isaac Lopez (9-3-1984) was located hiding behind a truck in the 800 block of 14th St. He was brought back to the scene, positively identified and placed under arrest. He was also charged with criminal trespass from a warning that was issued on August 4th. He was transported to the City Detention Center.
