Offense:  Possession of a Controlled Substance     (HS 481.115    Second Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1409160002
The night manager of a business located at 13202 Leopard St. called Corpus Christi Police after he observed a 2004 Dodge Truck driving reckless through the parking lot and at one point he saw the truck drive over a sign. The truck then parked at the far end of the parking lot and officers found the driver, William Bradley Beck (10/12/1971) intoxicated or high on some type of drug. The suspect had an arrest warrant from San Patricio County and he was taken into custody. Inside the truck officers found methamphetamine and a pipe In addition to the arrest warrants, the suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a second degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.  The truck was impounded.

Patrol Report September 9, 2014

Offense:  Aggravated Robbery        (PC 29.03      First Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1409090026
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located at 3238 Buddy Lawrence Dr. for a report of a robbery with a weapon. Responding officers observed a male that fit the description of the suspect involved near the intersection of Mueller St. and Erwin St. Officers detained the male and after an investigation they determined that he was the suspect involved in the robbery.  The 56 year old female store clerk told officers that the suspect had come into the store and had attempted to purchase items with a credit card but that the card was declined. The suspect produced a knife and told the clerk to give him the merchandise and the money from the register. The suspect put the cash in his pocket and fled. Officers recovered the stolen property along with the cash from the suspect. Raul Contreras Jr. (02/13/1977) was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.

A 24 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police and said that she had been shot in the face with a BB gun across the street from a bar located in the 1400 block of Rodd Field Rd. The female got into an argument with a male that she knew, and during the disturbance, a female that she didn’t know got involved and shot her in the face.  The female victim had two small wounds just below each eye that looked like puncture wounds that appeared could have been caused by a projectile the size of a BB.  Both the male and the suspect female left the area prior to police arrival.  While officers were investigating this call both parties drove back up to the scene. Witnesses identified the female as the BB gun shooter, and Rose Johnson (06/24/1988) was arrested for aggravated assault.  Officers searched the vehicle she drove up in to try and locate the BB gun but instead they found a small vitamin bottle with Xanax tablets packaged in plastic bags. The pills were determined to belong to the male Kelly Ganschow (09/26/1986) and he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony.   The victim female was going to visit her doctor to get treated for her facial injuries.

Offense:  Delivery of a Controlled Substance         (HSC 481.112       First Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1409080127
The driver for a group home was stopped by Corpus Christi Police near the intersection of Kostoryz Rd. and S. Padre Island Dr. for a traffic violation.  Inside officers found the driver, George Hernandez (07/25/1986), and two male MHMR patients from a group home. Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the 2001 Dodge Ram and had the driver exit.  He gave consent to officers to search the vehicle, and inside officers found a clear plastic bag that contained crack cocaine, located under the seat. The suspect was arrested, the two males, ages 53 and 16 were released to a caretaker from Coastal Area Support.  The vehicle was impounded, and the total amount of drugs confiscated weighed 130 grams.  The suspect was also charged with injury to a disabled person, a state jail felony, for making drugs available to the two patients.

Offense:  Aggravated Assault          (PC 22.02      Second Degree Felony)

A 22 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he was shot in the arm at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Barness Dr. by an unknown male. Witnesses told officers that a silver four door vehicle driven by a female with a male passenger pulled up near the sidewalk and the male passenger exited the vehicle and approached the victim. The female driver then drove the vehicle and stopped around the corner in the 5200 Bowie St. Witnesses then saw the suspect fire several gunshots from a handgun towards the victim.  The suspect then ran to the vehicle that was parked on  Bowie St, got in the passenger seat, and the vehicle left on Kostoryz Rd. Officers found a bullet hole in a parked vehicle near were the victim was standing. The victim was transported to Spohn MMC by CCFD EMS for treatment.   Officers have not located either the male that shot the victim, or the female that drove the car for him.  This case is still under investigation, and officers do not have any good description of either suspect.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of an assault in progress in the 100 block of Richard St. and upon arrival  they found a 44 year old male in the middle of the street who had been hit several times with a bat and said he had been held against his will at a home in the 200 block of Blevins St.   Other officers responding to the call went to Blevins St. and located the home and moments later a brown Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled into the driveway and three suspects were detained.   The victim said he was at the house installing a radio for the suspects when they began to accuse him of stealing property from them. He said one of the males grabbed his hand and put it over the stove and cut him with a knife trying to get him to confess. He said the female produced a pistol and she struck him several times in the face and head with it.  The victim said when they stopped hitting him, he was able to flee the house and he took off running.  The suspects chased after him and he was hit with a bat while trying to flee.  The victim had small lacerations to his face and head, complained that his back was hurting, and he had a deep cut on his left hand. He was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS. The three suspects were arrested.  Alberto Barajas (08/28/1991) had an outstanding arrest warrant, and he was also charged with aggravated assault, and unlawful restraint.  Adriana Santos (07/13/1993) and Lashad Hamilton (01/05/1989) were both arrested for aggravated assault, and unlawful restraint.

Patrol Report September 4, 2014

Location: 2800 Countiss Drive
Offense:  Crash Investigation          

Case Number: C1403550
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a crash involving an eighteen wheel tractor trailer and a natural gas pipeline. The 57 year old male driver was making a right hand turn from a private drive onto the 2800 block of Countiss Drive when the 2005 Freightliner cleared the turn but his trailer did not.  The trailer went into a ditch and struck a gas meter rupturing the line causing natural gas to come out from under the trailer. The trailer was loaded with 47,000 pounds of pipe and was leaning to one side. Corpus Christi Fire Units and City Gas Units responded to the scene and successfully turned off the leaking gas.  Damage to the meter and pipeline was estimated to be about $1500.  At this time no citations have been issued regarding this crash and there were no injuries reported.

Offense:  Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon     (PC   46.02   Class A Misdemeanor)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol stopped a motorcycle that he observed traveling at a high rate of speed along S. Padre Island Dr. near Waldron Rd. When the officer contacted the driver, he observed a bulge in the brown leather jacket he was wearing and then felt the handle of a gun. The officer retrieved the 38 caliber handgun from an inside pocket of the jacket and arrested Joseph McKinnon (12/13/1986).  Further investigation revealed that the serial numbers to the gun had been sanded down and only two numbers could be read. The suspect was additionally charged with tampering with identification numbers, a Class A misdemeanor.

Offense:  Accident Involving Serious Injury   (PC   550.021 Third Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1409040022
Corpus Christi Police Officersresponded to the area of 151 Hustlin Hornet Drive for a motorcycle leaning against a guard rail on the side of the road.  Officers found the damaged motorcycle and a large amount of blood indicating evidence of a crash.  Officers began to search the area for a victim when they were contacted by the emergency room at Bay Area Hospital. A 34 year old male crash victim had just arrived at the hospital with serious injuries to the ribs, a collapsed lung, and a burn to his face. The female driver of the vehicle that had crashed into the motorcycle had driven the victim to the hospital but did not stay.   The female suspect took the victim at the hospital and then left in a small black in color SUV with heavy front end damage.   The victim was admitted to the hospital for his injuries, and the Corpus Christi Police Hit and Run investigators are still looking for the female driver.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a business located at 5001 S. Padre Island Dr. after a 33 year old female store employee was injured while trying to stop a shoplifting.  A male and female were observed passing all points of sale without making an effort to pay for any items they had and the store employee attempted to stop them.  The employee tried to grab the items back from the female but was unsuccessful.  The male jumped in the back seat of a 2011 blue Ford F150 truck and the female got in the driver seat. While the employee was holding onto the stolen property, the female suspect drove away at a high rate of speed, dragging the employee several feet causing road rash on her elbows. CCFD EMS responded to treat the employee for her injuries, the truck was last seen going east toward the Home Depot.

A 54 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after she found a cell phone recording in the restroom of a business located in the 11300 Leopard St. The female who is an employee at the business told officers that right before using the bathroom, she noticed a bundle of brown paper towels wedged under the sink against the drainage pipe. She said that she figured the drain was leaking water, so she removed the towels and noticed a black flip phone positioned facing the toilet. The phone displayed a light indicating that the recording device was on. The female left the phone in its position until police  arrived. Officers arrived and recovered the phone and are currently investigating this case.

Offense:  Aggravated Assault          (PC 22.02       Second Degree Felony)

Case Number: 1408290027
Corpus Christi Police Officers responding to a call about a fight outside of an apartment in the 1800 block of Airline Road were flagged down by a 21 year old female victim who said she had been assaulted by a male and female. The victim stated she was outside attempting to get money from her vehicle when a male and a female approached her. The victim said that the male grabbed her by the neck and choked her, and also hit her several times in the head.  The male then went into his apartment and returned with a wood bat and struck her with the bat twice in the knees and once on the side of her body. The male then went into her vehicle and broke the rear view mirror and driver’s side windshield while the female suspect went through her belongings. The male took the bat back inside of an apartment and the female suspect pulled off the victim’s earrings and necklace. The male and female suspects were located and arrested by officers.  Larry Lee Haynes (08/19/1985) was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary to a vehicle.  Sheldon Allen (04/19/1985) was charged with aggravated assault, and at the City Detention Center she was found to have cocaine in her purse and she additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Offense:  Fraudulent Use Of Identifying Information (PC 32.51 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 5142 Oakhurst St. the Sun Suites Hotel after a man was observed in the parking lot of the hotel asking people if they wanted to buy a laptop.  Officers found a female Sarah Grove (09/12/1979) at the hotel who was staying in the same room as the man who was trying to sell the laptop.  Officers discovered she had an outstanding warrant for arrest and took her into custody.  She told officers she was staying at the hotel with her brother and another female. Officers found several Texas drivers licenses, credit cards, and social security cards belonging to other people in her purse.  Hotel management escorted officers to the room and there a female, Lina Garza (04/15/1980), came to the door and officers also found Matthew Grove (05/15/1977) inside.  Both were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants and arrested.  Officers are still trying to determine how many identification cards and credit cards the female had in her possession that did not belong to her.    At this time, she is the only on facing fraudulent use of identifying information charges.

Offense:  Assault       (PC 22.01       Class A Misdemeanor)

Case Number: 1408290014
Two males that were fighting on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of Texas Ave. were both arrested, one for assault, the other for an outstanding arrest warrant. The two males were observed fighting and Adrian Reyes (07/27/1993) was on top of the other male punching him in the face.  The other male, Roy Anguiano (07/09/1991), had an outstanding warrant for arrest for failure to appear on a charge of possession of marijuana.   The warrant had a bond amount of $4,100.  Both were transported to the City Detention Center without incident.

Case Number: 1408260042
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the Access Ford car dealership located at 3680 Interstate 69 for a theft of vehicle parts. The general manager told officers that four of his vehicles had their catalytic converters stolen sometime during the overnight hours. All four vehicles were white 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty trucks which were parked on the north side fence line of the dealership. Each catalytic converter is valued at $5,000 for a total loss of  $20,000.  At this time this case is still under investigation and there is no suspect information.

A 25 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after his vehicle was stolen at gunpoint by a male while he was pulled over on Leopard St.  The victim said he was driving west on Leopard St. near Cantwell St. when he pulled over to fix his radio.  It was then that he was approached by a hispanic male in a red shirt that had tattoos on both arms, short cropped hair, and he was clean shaven.  The suspect produced a black semi-automatic pistol and pointed it the victim’s chest and told him to get out of the car. The suspect got into the victim’s car and drove away towards Interstate Highway 37 on Cantwell St.  The vehicle is described as a silver in color 2007 Ford Mustang. The victim was given a ride to his residence on Omaha St. by officers. Officers are still looking for the suspect in this case, and the vehicle has not been recovered.

The owner of a business located in the 4500 block of Ayers Street was called by his alarm company that something had set off his alarm.  The business owner drove over to check the alarm and noticed the front glass door was broken and he then called Corpus Christi Police.  Video from inside the business show a  suspect that has his face covered by some type of cloth breaking the front glass door with an unknown object.  The suspect walks into the business towards the cash register and opens the drawer and removes cash from inside. The suspect then exits the business though the smashed front glass door. The business owner told officers that there was nearly $300 dollars in the cash register, and he estimated the front glass would cost about $300.00 to repair. The business owner is in the process of making officers a copy of the video surveillance.

A 43 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after a male she knew punched her in the face after they had a verbal argument.  The female victim was found with facial injuries and was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS.  The female gave officers a name and description of the offender and they located him not to far away. Gerald Freeman (01/28/1969) was arrested for aggravated assault, a second degree felony.  The victim injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

A 33 year old male victim told Corpus Christi Police Officers that he was threatened with a gun after he offered to tell some males a joke for a quarter.  The victim said he was walking in the 600 block of N. Chaparral St. when he saw five males together outside of a bar. When the victim offered to tell a funny joke in exchange for a quarter the five males began to argue with the victim.  He ran to the Greyhound Bus Station, and called police.  Before police could arrive the victim had to leave because the five males were walking up. The victim went to a bar located in the 400 block of Starr Street and again called police.  Two of the five suspects caught up to the victim outside of the bar, and one of the suspects Juan Luna (08/16/1975) told the other suspect he was with Ashby Lopez (12/29/1994) to shoot the victim.  The victim said Lopez pulled out a black 9 mm handgun, pointed at him, and cocked the trigger.  Luna encouraged Lopez to shoot the victim however, he did not, and they both fled on foot.  Officers responding to this call were given a description of the vehicle that the suspects left the scene in by several witnesses. Officers located all five suspects in a 2001 brown Mercury Marquis sedan driving down Mesquite St. and took the two suspects into custody.  The other three males were identified and released. Officers impounded the suspect’s vehicle, and during the inventory process they located a cocked handgun under the rear seat. Both suspects were charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony.

Masked Man Removes Cash

Corpus Christi Police Officers took a report for a burglary to a business located at 8001 Interstate 37 South, C.C. Freightliner Inc.  Suspects appeared to have made entry onto the property after cutting a hole in the back fence, then the suspects made entry into the shop by knocking out a back window.   The shop foreman told officers they locked up the shop on 08/08/14 around 11:10 p.m. and when they returned on 08/09/14 they found the window broken, the one cash registers on the counter in the shop had been broken into and cash removed.  A second registered was opened in the front of the business and rifled through but there was no cash inside.  The estimated damage to the property and value of items stolen was almost $1000.  Video images captured from the business show a male, 5’6” to 5’8” tall , heavy set, wearing a mask, gloves and a tan baseball cap.  Anyone who can identify the individual responsible, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. Grand Theft Auto In A Five Points Parking Lot

Offense: Stolen Vehicle         (PC 31.07    State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1408150168
A 45-year-old female reported to officers that her truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Chili’s Restaurant located at 4120 Highway.  Video images show a light silver-colored older model four door passenger vehicle pull into the restaurant parking lot, and a male with a white t-shirt, long tan shorts, a tan cap black shoes with white socks get out and walk to the front of the restaurant. A short time later he returns to the back of the parking lot and opens the passenger side door of the victim’s truck, slides across and drives off through the Home Depot parking lot. The silver-colored car which was parked behind the victim’s truck then pulls out behind the stolen truck and follows it out.

Offense:  Burglary of Building                    (PC 30.02       State Jail Felony)

Case Number: 1408210032
An employee at a business located in the 1400 block of Cliff Maus Drive told Corpus Christi Police that sometime around 11:40 PM on August 20, a suspect drove up to the front gate and cut the lock. Once on the property, the suspect went to the garage and attempted to cut the padlock to the door.  After failing to cut the lock the suspect left the property only to return later that night at about 2:15 AM, on August 21.  The suspect then removed a pick ax from one of the parked company trucks on the property and used it to pry open the garage door enough to gain entry.  The suspect stole five grass trimmers, a pole saw and a hedge trimmer. The total damage done and price of the equipment stolen was valued at over $3,500.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business in the 5700 block of Leopard St. for a person outside that was acting aggressive toward customers entering and leaving the store. Officers found Lance Hawke (06/22/1969) there and they were attempting to take him into custody when he fled on foot. Officers caught up to him about a block away and arrested him for evading on foot, a Class A misdemeanor. The suspect was also issued a criminal trespass warning not to return to the store.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to University St. and South Alameda St for a major crash involving a truck that had rolled over. Officers found a 1999 Toyota Tacoma truck entangled in a guide wire, and a telephone pole was cracked in half and being suspended in the air by the wires. The 24 year old male driver of the truck was determined to be intoxicated, and he was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The crash investigation revealed that the suspect was alone in his truck traveling south on University Dr. toward S. Alameda St. when he struck a parked Chevrolet truck. The suspect continued driving at a high rate of speed and went through the intersection, crossing S. Alameda St. and struck a metal fence and the telephone pole across the street. The force of the crash caused the suspect vehicle to roll over onto its passenger side. The damage caused by the suspect is estimated to be over $5,000.00. The driver will face charges of driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor, as well as several other traffic offenses after he is released from the hospital.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol observed a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse with an expired registration and inspection and stopped the car in the 1000 block of Airline Rd. The officer contacted the driver, Eli Rodriguez-Soliz (07/101992) who said that he did not have liability insurance on his vehicle. The officer was in the process of impounding the car when he found a backpack and inside it there was a plastic bag containing marijuana. Also in the backpack the officer found a “grinder” which is a device used to grind up marijuana and rolling papers. The driver was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor and his vehicle was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police received a call from an 88 year old male victim in the 4300 block of Carlton Street about a suspect who had kicked in the back door of his home. The victim told officers he was inside the house when he heard somebody banging on the back door. He then retrieved his handgun, and his wife exited the house through the front door. The male suspect broke the door and walked inside and saw the armed homeowner and took off running. The suspect exited that house and ran into another house next door. The 30 year old homeowner there said that he and his four children were inside his home and that the suspect forced his way into the residence through the front door and then ran into a back bedroom and locked himself inside. The home owner said that he had locked his children in a second bedroom in the house. Officers had to use force to open the bedroom door and inside they found the male suspect trying to hide beside the bed in the room. Officers arrested Robert Rodriguez (03/14/1987) and he was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony for breaking into the two homes. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The four children found in the second bedroom were not injured.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of an apartment in the 3100 block of Peachtree St. and found a window to one of the apartments broken. The manager of the complex told officers a lady that lived across the street from the apartment had a video of the break in on her cell phone. The apartment manager viewed the video and recognized the offender as Emanuel Valadez (11/15/1995) who lived on the property. Officers went to his apartment and contacted his mother who told officers that he had gone to the Pizza Hut on Leopard St. The suspect was found there and arrested for burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony. Officers contacted a female who lived in the apartment that had been broken into after she arrived home She told officers that she was unsure what had been stolen, but estimated that the broken window would cost about $200.00.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a vehicle in progress at the La Palmera Mall parking lot.

A 54 year old female told officers she was walking to her car when she observed a suspect male exit her car with property that belonged to her. The victim took pictures of the suspect as he was walking away from the vehicle with her belongings. The victim found damage to the driver side door lock and officers suspect that is how the male gained entry into the car.

The victim’s 22 year old daughter then contacted police and said she had seen the suspect in a neighborhood just north of the mall. Officers responded and were told that the female saw the suspect wearing headphones that she recognized to be her mother’s, and carrying a black bag while walking on Brock Street. The female yelled at him, and the male fled on foot into some backyards in the neighborhood. Officers were then directed to a home in the 1000 block of Brock St. were property had been discarded in a backyard. Officers found a bag containing property inside and some of the property belonged to the female victim from the mall.

As officers continued to investigate, they got information that the suspect male was running on Bradshaw St. One officer recognized the description of the suspect and knew he lived at a home in the 900 block of Bradshaw St. Officers responded there and saw a male through the window that matched the suspect description, but he would not come to the door. The homeowner arrived and let officers in.

Officers took Timothy Bruce (11/05/1981) into custody and charged him with burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.

A 33 year old female store manager from a business located in the 5700 block of Kostoryz Rd. called Corpus Christi Police after she found a cell phone stuck to the wall in the unisex restroom. Officers took the phone and tagged it as evidence and investigators are looking into whether any images are on the phone. At this time no suspects have been identified, and no arrest have been made.
