Patrol Report 04/22/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 194 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 21 to 7:00 a.m. on April 22, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

A 57 year old clerk called Corpus Christi Police after the store he was working at was robbed by a man that chased him around the counter.

The clerk told officers that a male suspect wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans entered the store armed with a long knife and came around the counter. The suspect chased the clerk around the back of the counter forcing the employee to jump over another counter to escape.

The suspect then grabbed cash from the register and ran out of the store.   He was last seen running on Leopard Street toward Lantana Street.

The clerk was not injured.

Officers did not locate the suspect, and continue to investigate this crime.

Patrol Report 04/21/2015

Case Number: 1504210016
Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash after a car struck a fire hydrant and rolled over in the 3900 block of Airline Road.

Officers arrived and determined a 2007 Nissan Maxima was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Lipes Boulevard when the driver lost control of the car after turning south onto Airline Road.  The car left the road and struck a fire hydrant and rolled over onto its roof.

After an investigation, the drive, Jennifer Segars (09/17/1975), was determined to be intoxicated and she was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

She was treated at Spohn Shoreline Hospital for minor injuries before being taken to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash when a car went into a business located at 6133 Ennis Joslin Road.

Officers arrived and determined a white 2013 Ford Focus sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Ocean Drive when the driver failed to negotiate the curve onto Ennis Joslin Road.

The driver lost control and the car went over the raised median, continued across Ennis Joslin Road where it jumped the curb, and crashed into the University Book Store.

After an investigation, the drive, Kyra Hyman (10/09/1994), was determined to be intoxicated and she was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

She was treated at Spohn Shoreline Hospital for minor injuries before being taken to the City Detention Center.

The building sustained approximately $5000 in damage.

Offense: Evading Arrest in a Vehicle

Case Number: 1504150008
Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash on State Highway 358 east just before South Staples Street.

When officers arrived they found a 2000 Honda Accord had crashed into the center median of the freeway and had parts hanging off the car as well as two flat tires.

As officers approached the crash scene the driver took off, attempting to flee police east on the freeway even though his vehicle had extensive damage.  The suspect vehicle traveled with police behind him until he finally exited the freeway at Nile Drive and turned into a restaurant parking lot.

After an investigation, the driver, Justin Capistran (09/08/1992), was determined to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, hit and run, and evading police in a vehicle.

Patrol Report 04/14/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 192 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 13 to 7:00 a.m. on April 14, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash after a  26 year old male cab driver traveling east on Interstate 37 clipped the back of a large 70,000 pound pump truck causing the commercial truck driver to lose control.

The pump truck slid on its side before it struck the center concrete median.​  The truck came to rest between both sides of the concrete median.

Neither the cab driver, nor the 50 year old male truck driver were injured in the crash.

Both north and south lanes of Interstate 37 were completely shut down for several hours. Texas Department of Transportation personnel were able to bring out cones and directional trucks to aid with traffic control.

As a result of the freeway being closed officers worked many other crashes in that area as traffic began to build. A large crane was requested in order to try and lift the pump truck off the median.

The cab driver was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into the Packery Channel south jetty and landed nearly 40 yards into the channel.

The driver of the 2006 Dodge truck, Raul Cantu (06/08/1991), was able to get out and swim back to shore and get onto the north jetty.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital for treatment of minor injuries he received as a result of the crash and then arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Members of the Corpus Christi Police Dive Team responded and were able to drop a buoy in the bed of the submerged truck. The dive team will return in the morning to recover the truck. The street department responded and placed traffic safety cones and barrels to mark the damage to the jetty.

A female called for police and ambulance service 35 times in one day and was arrested for abuse of the 911 service.

The female, Christina Turnbull (06/29/1957), made repeated 911 calls to request EMS service to her motel room located at the Valley Motel at 5300 Leopard Street.

After contacting the female several times during the day and finding nothing wrong, officers finally put a stop to the calls by arresting the women.

A 26 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after an ex-boyfriend broke into her home located in the 600 block of Robert Drive and threatened her and her mother.

The female called police after hearing a side window of her home being broken out.  While on the phone with 911, the man made his way into the home.  Also inside the home was the female’s 65 year old mother.

Officers arrived and took the male suspect into custody.  He continued to make threats against both women.

The female victim told officers that the ex-boyfriend continues to harass her at home and at her place of employment.

Rudy Lozano (11/29/1987) was arrested for breaking the window, making threat and harassment.  All of those charges are Class B misdemeanors.  He was additionally charged with stalking, a third degree felony.

A 45 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his truck was stolen from a business located at 4575 Agnes Street.

The man told officers that he was at the business to load some equipment and supplies and that he had left his keys in the ignition while going inside. When he returned to the parking lot near the loading docks he discovered that his 2008 Ford truck was gone.

Just after 6 PM other officers responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Marguerite Street found the stolen truck and the suspect who had taken it.

Officers investigating the suspicious vehicle were told by witnesses that they had observed the truck make a wide right turn at a high rate of speed from Seventeenth Street onto Marguerite Street and almost hit a house.

With the help of witnesses officers found the man who had gotten out of the stolen truck.  Officers arrested, Jamey White 903/17/1980), for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

A 43 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after he was robbed while working at a restaurant located at 5825 South Padre Island Drive.

The male victim said he was working as an exterminator when he was approached by another man in the parking lot.  The suspect said “give me all your money” and displayed a gun in his left hand.  The victim pulled out some cash and gave the suspect the money.

The suspect then fled on foot east from the restaurant parking lot.

Officers did not located the suspect, and continue to investigate this case.
