Police Serve Search Warrant on Caravelle Parkway

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Darious Decuire (7/7/1989) Tuesday afternoon for Possession of a Controlled Substance at his apartment located at 3802 Caravelle Parkway.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics and Vice Investigation Division served a search warrant at 3802 Caravelle Tuesday afternoon at 3:34 pm.  Police arrested Derious Decuire (7-7-89).  Police seized approximately 3.5 pounds of marijuana, 39.73 grams of alprazolam, 14.11 grams of ecstasy pills, and 11.67 grams of cocaine.  There was also $222 in US currency and four cell phones that were taken as evidence.

Officers delivered Decuire to the city detention center for possession of a controlled substance in three different penalty groups and possession of marijuana. All four accusations are felony criminal charges.

Suspect Swipes Cell Phone From Shopping Cart

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying a man that they believe stole a cell phone from the shopping cart of a customer while he was at the Home Depot Store, located at 5041 South Padre Island Drive on February 2.

The customer, who didn’t realize his phone was missing at first, said that the suspect took the phone from his cart when he was not looking and then walked out and got into a grey vehicle.  Employees of the store were able to provide police with video images of the suspect from the stores camera surveillance system.

The suspect appears to be a Hispanic male, twenty to thirty years old with dark hair and glasses.  He was last seen wearing a pink polo shirt and black pants.  He was seen getting into the front passenger seat of an older model four door grey Chrysler 300 that left going east on South Padre Island Drive toward South Staples Street.

Corpus Christi Police Officer Pulls Man to Safety After Fiery Car Crash

A Corpus Christi Police Officer pulled a 29-year-old man to safety Monday evening after the man was involved in a vehicle crash on the turn ramp from State Highway 358 and State Highway 286.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer witnessed a green 1995 Chevy Suburban travel west at a high rate of speed on the South Padre Island Drive freeway and take the turn to travel south on the Crosstown Expressway. Officer Jon McGinley arrived shortly after the crash and immediately noticed that the car was on fire.  The Officer then went to the vehicle, broke the window with his baton, and pulled the 29-year-old man to safety before the fire fully engulfed the vehicle.

Several witnesses helped the Officer, but they left the scene without providing their information. The 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The ramp was closed to traffic for over an hour until the vehicle was towed from the scene.The Corpus Christi Police have no charges against the 29-year-old man at the time of this post.pastedImage

A 50-year-old man reported his green 2004 Ford F-150 stolen from the gas station located at the corner of Alameda and Airline to the Corpus Christi Police Tuesday afternoon.
The 50-year-old man told Officers he left his keys in the truck at the fuel pump at about 1:40pm when he went inside the store and left the truck unattended. The 50-year-old man told Officers when he walked out of the store, the truck was gone.
An employee of the store showed the Officers video of the event and the Officer reported a passenger of an orange sport utility vehicle went to the truck and drove from the fuel station. The Officer was not able to get a clear description of the person who got into the truck and requested additional video for a different angle, but the video of the different angle was not currently available. The Officer reported the orange SUV left west on Alameda from the store and the green truck left south on Airline from the store. The Officer placed the truck information in the  Texas Crime Information Center as stolen and the truck has not yet been recovered.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Westall (2/1/1996) for Public Intoxication, Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, Resisting Arrest, and Evading Arrest Wednesday morning at a nightclub located at 4653 Everhart Road.
Corpus Christi Police Officers reported that they went to the nightclub to observe the parking lot at closing time and saw Westall attempt to leave the club with a bottle of beer and Westall’s hands were marked with an “M” on each hand to indicate that Westall was under the legal age to consume alcohol. The Officer requested Westall to provide identification, and Westall attempted to leave. Officers grabbed Westall to prevent him from fleeing and the Officers said that Westall struggled to get away until the Officers applied handcuffs and pulled Westall to the patrol car to effect the arrest. No injuries were reported and the Officers delivered Westall to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Cody Morrisey (9/14/1992) for aggravated assault after an accusation of road rage at a store located at 6814 Weber Road Tuesday morning.
Corpus Christi Police responded to the store and contacted Morrisey and a 64-year-old man. The two men told Officers there was aggressive driving on the other persons part for no apparent reason. The 64-year-old man told Officers he stopped in the store parking lot in order to get away from the aggressive driving, but there was a confrontation outside of the vehicles. Officers spoke to store employees who said they saw Morrisey rapidly stop in the parking lot, quickly jump out of the car and point a handgun at the 64-year-old man. no injuries or property damage was reported. Officers arrested Morrisey for aggravated assault and then delivered Morrisey to the city detention center. The 64-year-old man was released at the scene. Officers collected evidence which include a handgun and released the vehicle Morrisey drove to his parents.

Burglary To a Motor Vehicle, Agg. Assault, Attempted Capital Murder

On February 1, 2016 at approximately 11:42 pm Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 6838 Everhart Road in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival officers contacted a 24-year-old man who told Officers that he caught several suspects breaking into his car. The 24-year-old man told Officers he held the burglary suspects at gunpoint and at some point there was an exchange of gunfire between the burglary suspects and the 24-year-old man. Two suspects (male and female) fled the scene in a vehicle and Zachary Garibay (2/2/1991) was detained by the 24-year-old man until Corpus Christi Police arrived and placed Garibay under arrest for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Detectives believe there were no injuries as a result of the exchange of gunfire, and the only property damage reported was to a vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The 24-year-old man who is the burglary victim has not been arrested.

A description of the vehicle was put out over the radio. At approximately 12:03 am, the suspect vehicle was spotted and stopped at 7300 Prairie Dr. During this traffic stop a 24-year-old man pointed a gun at the officer. The officer fearing for his safety fired his duty weapon. The 24-year-old man ran from the shooting scene. The Officer arrested a 19-year-old woman also ran from the shooting scene, but was captured by the Officer. The 19-year-old woman, Abby Farrell (2/26/1996) was arrested for evading arrest and delivered to the city detention center.

Officers formed a perimeter around the scene and began searching for the 24-year-old man. The K-9 units also assisted in the search. During the search officers learned the 24-year-old man was in a home on the 4900 block of Lake Medina Drive. The Officers surrounded the home and attempted to develop a dialogue with the 24-year-old man. The Corpus Christi Police SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams responded to the home until SWAT entered the home at about 7:45am and found the 24-year-old inside with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment and placed under guard by Corpus Christi Police.

Corpus Christi Police believe all suspects in the burglaries involved in this episode have been located. Detectives continue to gather information and evidence about this episode to verify facts and circumstances.

UPDATE February 5, 2016:

On February 5, 2016 at approximately 6:20pm, Michael Garibay (11-11-1992) was released from the hospital and transported and booked into the City Detention Center. He was booked on one count of aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of evading arrest and one count of failure to appear on a previous possession of marijuana.

Cloned Credit Card Suspect

Corpus Christi Police Department detectives need your help identifying this suspect. This suspect and his possible accomplice have gone to several businesses in Corpus Christi using a cloned credit card. They have purchased close to $2000 in merchandise with the cloned cards.

Detectives ask employees to please check ID’s to help deter this type of crime.

The male was seen entering the store and selecting a couple of items valued around $1200. He then left Lowes without paying for the property. He then met up with another subject in the parking lot waiting in a truck.

A 51-year-old man reported damage to a business to Corpus Christi Police in what the 51-year-old man said he believes was a failed burglary attempt that caused more damage to the burglars vehicle than what was taken from the business Wednesday morning.
The 51-year-old man told Corpus Christi Police Officers he discovered damage to his building after the 51-year-old man received a call from his alarm company and went to investigate. The 51-year-old man pointed out that the front glass doors to his building were destroyed and there was a large hole in the wall on the side of his building. The 51-year-old man told Officers he believed the value to repair the front glass doors was about $700 dollars, and then estimated the cost to repair the wall was about $30,000 dollars.
The 51-year-old man showed video of the cause of the damage to Officers and there was a truck driven into the glass door which caused the damage. The video shows a man get out of the truck and learn there was a metal barrier that prohibited entry into the building. The video shows the truck then drive to the side of the building and then strike the wall with the back of the truck to cause the hole in the wall. The video shows the man get out of the truck and try to gather some items from inside the business, but those items were fastened with a cable lock system, so the man got into the truck and left without having any loot.
The man in the video is described as a male, wearing blue jeans, red button up shirt, and a red baseball cap. The truck in the video is described as a white Ford F-250 which now has damage to the rear of the truck. The man has not yet been apprehended by Police.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 42-year-old Leticia Perez (3/9/1973) for Driving While Intoxicated and Eluding/Fleeing Police after a hit and run crash with a parked delivery truck at Saratoga and Everhart yesterday.
A Corpus Christi Police Officer was flagged down by a person on Saratoga at noon and the person alerted the Officer of a van which travelled in the wrong direction on Saratoga Boulevard. The Officer found the van as it travelled in the correct direction of travel, and the Officer was alerted by another Officer that the van, a red 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, was involved in a hit and run at Saratoga and Everhart. The Officer activated his lights and sirens to signal the operator of the van to pull over, but the van continued to travel until it stopped at the 6200 block of Strateford Drive. The Officer met with the operator of the van, Leticia Perez, and determined Perez was intoxicated. The Officer stated in his report that Perez was not cooperative and obtained a warrant to collect a blood specimen. The Officer arrested Perez, took Perez to the hospital to collect a specimen of blood, and then delivered Perez to the city detention center accused of Driving While Intoxicated and Eluding/Fleeing Police.

A 56-year-old man reported a suspicious person at his business located at 1736 Staples Street Tuesday morning which prompted Officers to discover identity crimes with 26 victims.
The 56-year-old man told Officers he called Police because a man parked a silver 1999 Volvo in the parking lot of the business, went inside to ask about paint, then abruptly left the store while an answer was provided. The Officers saw the vehicle in the parking lot with the windows open and rain fell to the interior of the vehicle. The Officers attempted to learn who owned the vehicle and discovered evidence of identification believed to be collected for fraudulent use. The Officers impounded the vehicle and collected the evidence for further investigation. Police Detectives believe they know the identity of the man in this case. The man has not been located by the time of this report.

Narcotics and Vice Investigators Seize Drugs from Cain Drive

Corpus Christi Police Narcotics and Vice Investigators arrested 32-year-old Crystal Maldonado (1/8/1984) Friday afternoon for manufacturing or delivering controlled substances at her residence located on the 5000 block of Cain Drive.

Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigations Division, assisted by Directed Patrol Officers, served a search and arrest warrant at 5022 Cain at 3:18 pm Friday afternoon.  During the search of the residence, investigators located and seized over 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1.42 grams of brown powdered heroin.  Crystal Maldonado (1-8-84) was arrested charged with Health and Safety Code 481.112, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, 4 grams to 200 grams, which is a first degree felony.

 

SWAT and HNT respond to 6500 Lyons

On January 24, 2016 at approximately 9:20 am, patrol officers responded to  the area of 6500 Lyons for a suicidal subject. Officers arrived and attempted to make contact. As officers were attempting to make contact, they heard what they believed to be a single gunshot. At that point the CCPD SWAT and Hostage Negotiations Teams were called to respond.

HNT made numerous attempts to contact the male subject inside but never received a response. The SWAT Team carefully entered the house. Once inside they discovered that the 32 year old male was deceased. There were no other people inside the house. Officers are sill on scene at the time of this post.
