Patrol Report 03/03/2015

Corpus Christi Police responded to a drive-by shooting at a home located in the 900 block of Louis Lynch Drive.

Upon arrival officers found a 35 year man, a 26 year old female and their six children inside the home unharmed. Officers also located nine shell casings in front of the residence in the middle of the street.  At least three of the rounds did hit the home.

At this time, officers are still investigating this case, and there is no suspect description and no arrests have been made.

Police Arrest Woman For Kidnapping And Stealing Car

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 29-year-old woman for three counts of kidnapping and for unauthorized use of a vehicle from a store located at 1821 South Padre Island Drive Friday afternoon.

A 25-year-old woman reported a red Dodge Avenger stolen and three children abducted at 2pm Friday afternoon from the store parking lot to the Corpus Christi Police. The 25-year-old woman explained to the Officers that she did not own the car, but borrowed the red Dodge Avenger from a 27-year-old woman in order to go to the store. The 25-year-old woman told Officers she picked up a 29-year-old woman on the way to the store and left a 1 month old girl, a 5-year-old boy, and a 6-year-old boy in the car with the 29-year-old woman and the keys to the car. The 25-year-old woman told Officers when she exited the store, she was unable to find the 29-year-old woman, the children, or the car.

Corpus Christi Police launched a search for the car and the children and used social media to spread the word of the search. Officers were then informed at 2:46pm that there was a red Dodge Avenger which crashed into a building at 4977 Ayers Street. Officers went to the crash and located the three children and the 29-year-old woman unharmed. Officer arrested the 29-year-old woman for three counts of kidnapping, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and have taken the 29-year-old woman to the hospital for an evaluation and to determine if she is intoxicated. The woman will be transported to the city detention center once released from the hospital.

The children were released to the mother and the vehicle was returned to the 27 year old woman owner.

Update: February 27, 2015 18:00

Officers delivered 29 year old Latoya Huff (7/21/1985) to the city detention center for unauthorized use of a vehicle and kidnapping.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol was driving by a carwash located at 10638 S. Padre Island Drive when he observed two males by the coin machine in one of the washing bays.

One of the males was able to flee on foot but the officer did detain the other. Jay Charles Jackson (10/17/1993) was arrested for burglary of a coin operated machine, and was also determine to have an arrest warrant for fail to appear on an original charge of carrying a prohibited weapon.

Upon examining the property for damage, the officer discovered that the metal bracket that holds the lock on the coin machine was cut and pried. The two suspects were able to remove the lock but were not able to get into the part of the machine where the money is stored due to a second lock.

Officers are still investigating this case to try and determine the identity of the second suspect.

Patrol Report 02/25/2015

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on State Highway 358 near Rodd Field Road.

Officers spotted the 2013 Hyundai Sonata sedan traveling west in the east bound lanes of the freeway near South Staples Street. As the vehicle approached the Everhart Road overpass, it crashed head on into a white Dodge Caravan occupied by a 23 year old female driver, her 24 year old male passenger and three small children.

The male passenger suffered a broken leg. The female driver is being treated at Spohn Memorial Hospital for injuries that were thought not to be life threatening. The three children ranging in age from 3 years to 5 months old were not injured.

After an investigation, officers determined that the driver that was going the wrong direction was not injured, but he was intoxicated. Zachary Glazener (06/08/1994) was arrested for intoxication assault because of the serious injuries he caused to the occupants of the white minivan.

Patrol Report 02/24/2015

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol was attempting to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the driver of the car attempted to flee.

The officer observed the 2000 Chevrolet truck make an improper turn from Marguerite Street onto S. Staples Street.
When the officer went to stop the car, he sped away.

Other responding officers located the car abandoned near the 500 block of S. Staples Street, and then officers found the suspect walking between some buildings in the area.

Offices contacted the male suspect, Espiridion Suarez (06/03/1982), and placed him under arrest for evading police in a vehicle.  He was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony, when it was discovered he tried to toss a bag of methamphetamine.  The drugs were recovered, and the suspects’ car was impounded.

Bank Robbery on South Alameda

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at 4201 South Alameda Street this morning just before 11 AM, at the First Community Bank.

A bank employee told officers that a man went into the bank, presented a note to one of the tellers that demanded cash.  The bank employee told officers the man never presented a weapon.  When the teller refused to hand over money, the suspect fled out the front door and around the building.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male, blue baseball cap, a jacket and black jeans.  Camera surveillance images of the suspect were provided to detectives by the bank. This suspect was not captured and the police department is asking for your help identifying this individual.

A 27 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after a man assaulted her and tried to take her purse while she was walking to her car in the parking lot of Kohl’s.

The female told officers that she was getting in her car, when a man came up behind her and hit her on the back of the head. He then started trying to yank her purse off of her shoulder. The victim fought back and was able to pull the suspects shirt off and scratch him. She was able to hold onto her purse and the male gave up on the attack and took off running. He got into a maroon sedan and left the area.

The suspect did leave his t-shirt and sandals behind which officers recovered. He was described as being a Hispanic male, 5’5” tall, heavy set, short hair, and clean shaven. The victim was treated by CCFD EMS for minor injuries.

Officers did not locate the suspect and continue to investigate this crime.

Amber Alert Issued for Missing 6 year old

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 2002 Yorktown in reference to a missing child. Officers contacted the adult relative of the child who stated that she got up at approximately 4:30am to check something in the kitchen. When she checked on the children that were staying with her she noticed that 6 year old Kloe Donohoo   was gone. She then discovered that the suspect 19 year old Austin Carlin and her van were also gone. Police are actively searching for this child.

The van is a white Dodge Caravan LP 6BZXV. If you have any information or you spot the vehicle and missing child, please call 911.

UPDATE.

At approximately 11:20am Kloe Donohoo was located safe and sound. A DPS Trooper was on I-10 near Ozona Texas and observed the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident. Corpus Christi Police Detectives are on the way to scene to interview the suspect and facilitate the reunion of Kloe and her parents.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank all those who assisted in the recover of Kloe. A press conference is in the works and will planned later today.

Robbery Suspect Leaves Valentine’s Wishes

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe is involved in two separate armed robberies that both occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 15. A clerk told officers that a male suspect entered the Stripes Store, located at 5645 Kostoryz Road, and went straight up to the counter, displayed a knife, and demanded cash. When the clerk hesitated, the suspect slammed the knife down on the counter. The clerk then handed the suspect cash from the register.  Before leaving the suspect threw a $1 bill back at the clerk and said “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Officers also believe this same suspect may have been involved in a separate armed robbery 20 minutes prior to this at the Texas Star located at 5636 Weber Road.  At this time there are no images of the suspect at that location but the clerk told officers that the suspect entered the store covering his face and demanding money. The suspect slapped a large knife on the store counter and pointed it at the clerk. Once the suspect had the cash from the register he said “Happy Valentine’s Day” and left out the front door.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the stores security system that shows a male, with a bald head, large build, about 5`8” tall and 180 pounds.

The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Detectives at 886-2840. Corpus Christi Police and Fire Department units responded to 1025 West Point Road, the Church of Christ for a fire.  Officers arrived and found the church was engulfed in flames.

Officers believe that the fire started outside on the west side of the church.

Arson investigators from the fire department are currently investigating this suspicious fire.
