Date: Thursday, February 20, 2015, 2:22am Location: 11645 SPID Offense: Murder Case Number: 1502200012 Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the CosWay fishing pier in reference to a shooting. Responding officers located a 37 year old male victim who had been shot several times. The officers began CPR but the victim did not survive his wounds. CCPD homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses.
At approximately 4:41am officers were contacted at 321 John Sartain, The Main Police station, by a subject claiming to be involved in the shooting. The 29 year old male suspect was arrested for this latest homicide.

Case Number: 1502190021 A 30 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was assaulted and shot at by three men in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 5701 Saratoga Boulevard.
The victim had a chipped tooth from where the suspects had hit him in the mouth with the butt of a pistol while he was sitting in a car with several other males. The victim said there was a dispute with a 23 year old male that he knows over a car title. The victim told officers that he was held from behind while he sat in the front seat by two other males, he did not know, sitting in the back seat. After he was hit in the mouth with the gun, the suspect in the driver’s seat fired a shot from a handgun at him but missed. The round struck a parked truck next to them. The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and hide until officers arrived.
Officers at the scene recovered a 9 millimeter caliber handgun they believe the suspect used in the parking lot. They believe the suspect may have tossed the weapon because it jammed and would not fire. The suspects all fled in a white Chevrolet Cavalier with the victim’s wallet.
The victim was able to give officers the name of the suspect that fired the gun at him however he was not located. He was treated at the scene by CCFD EMS for minor injuries.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe is involved in a theft of several high priced Versace sunglasses on February 9.
A store employee of The Sunglasses Hut, located at La Palmera Mall, 5488 S. Padre Island Drive, called Corpus Christi Police after a man walked in and tried on a pair of women’s Versace sunglasses. The male then stuck four pairs of sunglasses in the sleeves of his shirt, and ran out of the store. The total value of the four pair of Versace sunglasses was almost $950.
Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the stores security system that shows a male, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, medium build and clean shaven. He was wearing a light colored long sleeved button down shirt, blue jeans, dark tennis shoes, and a dark cap.
The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual. Case Number: 1502170122 A couple spending the evening at a local bingo hall had to call Corpus Christi Police when they were ready to leave because their truck had been stolen.
The couple left the 2006 Chevrolet truck unlocked and the keys under the floor mat at about 5:30 PM while they went inside the business at 9840 Leopard Street. At 9 PM they discovered the truck had been stolen.
Just after midnight, an officer driving through a parking lot found the truck unoccupied at the Westwood Apartments, 9850 La Branch Street.
No suspects were arrested, and officers continue to investigate this case.

Case Number: 1502160136 A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol in the Woodriver subdivision area saw a truck towing a utility trailer that didn’t have any license plates attached to it. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued even after he had activated his emergency lights for another block.
When the truck did stop the driver, Diamond Jackson (08/17/1988), jumped out and attempted to flee on foot. The officer was able to take the suspect into custody as he attempted to jump over a fence.
An investigation revealed that the 2015 Chevrolet truck the suspect was driving was stolen on Monday from a customer at the Keg Room located at 4700 S. Alameda Street. The license plate being displayed on the stolen truck the suspect had been driving was stolen from another truck while it was parked at an apartment complex on Weber Road. The trailer attached to the stolen truck was also determined to be stolen. It had been taken from a tire shop located in the 4300 block of Violet Road earlier in the evening.
The suspect was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading police both felony offenses. He was additionally charged with four other misdemeanor offenses.

Case Number: 1502150149 A 24 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after her husband accidently stabbed himself following a disturbance between the two.
Officers arrived and found a 35 year old male in a bathtub inside the home with a stab wound to the left side of his chest. The male refused to speak to officers, however, the female told them that he had come up behind her while she was in the kitchen. The female said that her husband brought his right arm around her neck and she then saw a large kitchen knife in his hand approaching her face. She ducked as the knife came at her and it struck him in his chest instead.
After stabbing himself the male got into the bathtub. The male was transported to Spohn MMC with non-life threatening injuries and the female went to stay with other family members.
At this time no arrests have been made, however, once released from the hospital the male could face aggravated assault charges.

Corpus Christi Police responded to multiple complaints of a firearm being discharged in the 4900 block of Dody Street at 7:52 p.m. Sunday night. Officers arrived at 8:09 p.m. and were directed to a particular house by a member of the public.
The Officers went to the exterior north side of the house and then exchanged gunfire with a 33-year-old man. The 33-year-old man was injured and taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
The Corpus Christi Police on duty SWAT team responded to the scene to enter the house where the shooting took place. No other individuals were found. There were no other reports of injuries or property damage.
The Officer who exchanged gunfire with the suspect is a 3-year veteran. The Officer has been placed on Administrative Leave as per department policy. The Officer was not injured.
The 33-year-old suspect remains in the hospital for treatment for his injuries and faces charges of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 dollar fine.
Detectives with the Internal Affairs and Investigations Bureau are investigating the event.

Case Number: 1502130018 Corpus Christi Police were called after another driver observed a possible drunk driver pull into the drive thru at the Whataburger located at 6241 Saratoga Boulevard.
The caller advised that he had seen the 2002 Mercury Cougar driving all over the road, going across the median and back while traveling on Saratoga Blvd. He followed the vehicle as it pulled into the drive thru and he called police.
Officers arrived and contacted the driver, Alejandro Lopez (02/01/1978) and after an investigation they determined that he was intoxicated and he was arrested.
While officers were investigating this call a female, driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla, pulled into the Whataburger parking lot. She began talking to officers at the scene and she appeared as though she had been drinking. After an investigation it was determined that the driver, Ruth Pina (09/09/1987), was intoxicated and she was arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released store video of a suspect they believe is involved in a burglary and used a stolen vehicle to make his getaway from officers on February 4.
Corpus Christi Police were called by the 34 year old male victim of an auto burglary advising that his vehicle had been broken into while it was parked at the IHOP Restaurant located at 5202 S. Padre Island Drive.
He told officers that the suspects had stolen several items from his 2014 Toyota truck, including a MacBook Pro laptop, by breaking out the rear passenger side window. He told officers he had tracked his laptop with another computer and it was showing to be at the Dollar General Store located at 2978 Holly Road.
As officers arrived at the store to investigate, the suspect took off in a red 2009 Saturn car, and the suspect was able to elude police. The victim continued to track the laptop and he was able to give officers updates on the suspect’s location.
The red Saturn that the suspect fled in was tracked to the 4600 block of Totten Street. Officers were directed there and found the Saturn, parked on the side of the street. The Saturn turned out to be a stolen vehicle and inside the car, officers found property from multiple auto burglaries. The victim was able to get back his garment bag with clothes valued at $800.00, a computer bag that contained the MacBook Pro valued at $2,700.00, and an IPAD valued at $700.00.
The video released is from the Dollar General Store security camera that caught images of the suspect while he was inside making purchases. The video shows the suspect entering the business, and then standing at the store counter. Once he exits the store, officers attempt to contact him, but he flees in the stolen Saturn car.

Case Number: 1502100029 Corpus Christi Police Officers are investigating a break in at the Hilltop Community Center, 11425 Leopard Street.
Employees of the WIC office, that is inside the community center, arrived at work and found that a rear window had been pried open. Once inside the suspect attempted to steal a Samsung flat screen television from its wall mount. When the suspect was unsuccessful in getting the television off the wall, they left. The television did not seem to have been damaged. No other property was removed from the office.
Officers are still investigating this case, and at this time, no suspects have been arrested.
