Video Of Hoodie Bandits Released

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released video surveillance that shows an aggravated robbery Monday morning at a restaurant located at 5212 Weber Road.

The video shows two men walking up to the restaurant and then enter wearing masks and blue hoodie shirts with the hoods up.  Once inside, they display a handgun and steal the cash register. The two suspects leave the restaurant and run toward an apartment complex in the area.  The video shows one of the suspects discharging the gun outside the restaurant as they make their escape.

The suspects were not located and Detectives need your help in identifying these two violent individuals.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Robbery and Homicide Detectives at 886-2840.   Anyone who would like to keep their identity secret and provide information to the Detectives should call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS (8477) or submit the tip online at http://www.888TIPS.com. A 60 year old grandmother called Corpus Christi Police after her grandson assaulted her over an argument about toast.  Officers arrived at the home located in the 1400 block of West Point Rd. and were told that the grandmother got mad at her 24 year old grandson because he did not use a knife or spoon to spread butter on his toast.

The argument got more heated and the man pushed his grandmother up against a cabinet. The grandmother then grabbed a knife and told him to get away.  The male grabbed a kitchen pan and threatened to hit her before being separated by the grandfather.

The female told officers that the assault had injured her back but she declined medical assistance. Officers arrested Billy Angel Gutierrez (12/13/1989) for assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

A 27 year old female owner of a business located at 5601 S Padre Island Drive called Corpus Christi Police after one of her employees took in a counterfeit fifty dollar bill.  The female told officers she discovered the fake bill while counting cash proceeds from her business. The counterfeit bill appeared to have been altered from a five dollar bill and made to look like a fifty dollar bill.

The owner is in the process of looking at store video surveillance to see which customer passed the bill. Corpus Christi Police Financial Crimes Detectives continue to investigate this case and no arrests have been made.

Detectives Looking For Funny Money Men

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying two men that have been passing counterfeit bills on the south side of the city. One male suspect passed counterfeit one hundred bills at the Barnes and Noble Book Store and the World Market on October 30 and 31. In images captured by store surveillance cameras the Hispanic male is seen in a solid black shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.

Other images show what detectives believe is a different male wearing a black and gray striped shirt and jeans passing a counterfeit fifty dollar bill at the Toys R Us on October 24. At the Toys R Us Store that suspect male is with a white or Hispanic female wearing a gray t-shirt and three small children. Detectives do not think these are the same men but they haven’t ruled out that possibility either

Two Men Steal Register And Discharge Firearm At Restaurant On Weber

A 25-year-old man reported an aggravated robbery Monday morning at a restaurant located at 5212 Weber Road. The 25-year-old man told Officers that two men who wore masks and blue hoodie shirts with the hoods up entered the restaurant at 10:12am Monday morning, displayed a handgun and stole the cash register. The 25-year-old man told Officers there were about ten people in the restaurant at the time of the robbery and no injuries were reported. The 25-year-old man told Officers the two men left the restaurant and ran to the apartment complex east of the restaurant. The 25-year-old man told Officers that the men discharged the firearm outside the restaurant as they made their escape, but no injuries or property damage related to the gunshots were reported.

Corpus Christi Independent School District told Officers that Carroll High School, Kostoryz Elementary and Yeager Elementary Schools were locked down while Police searched for the suspects in this case. The suspects were not located and Detectives continue to investigate this aggravated robbery.

A 33 year old male contacted Corpus Christi Police and told them that he observed a male suspect walking across the parking lot of a motel with a black and silver handgun in his hand.

The male told the suspect to go back to his room and as they began walking toward his room the man pointed the hand gun at him.  The suspect then went inside, slammed the door to the room and fired a shot. The male thought he was firing the gun at him and took off running.

Officers made contact with Jose Guajardo (01/21/1990) and arrested him for aggravated assault, a second degree felony.

Officer Involved Shooting

Date: November 9, 2014
Time: 4:46 p.m.
Location: 2030 Saratoga

Officers were dispatched to 2030 Saratoga for a disturbance. Upon arrival they heard yelling coming from within the building. A 37 year old male came out of the building with a gun in his hand. One of the three Officers at the scene shot the suspect twice. The suspect was taken to MMC and was being treated for his injuries at the time of this report. The female at the scene was not injured during the shooting.

The Officer is on Administrative Duty, as per policy, pending the investigation. None of the Officers at the scene were injured.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division and Forensics Division will work this evening to gather more information and interview those present during the incident.

We will have a more detailed press briefing on Monday afternoon.

Police Investigate Aggravated Assault on Devon Street

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a disturbance in which a man was stabbed on the 4200 block of Devon Street Friday night. Corpus Christi Police were called at 9:54pm and discovered a 29-year-old man with obvious injuries which the Officers said appeared to be stab wounds. The 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. The Officers found several witnesses to the crime and Detectives were summoned to gather information and evidence. Witnesses told Officers the suspect in this case is a heavy-set man with medium brown skin, brown eyes and black hair and left the scene in a silver car, possibly a Chevy Impala with chrome rims and blue lights in the undercarriage. The Detectives took the witnesses to the Police Headquarters to obtain recorded statements. The suspect in this case remains at large and the 29-year-old man was in surgery at the time of this report.

The store manager of a business located at 11100 Leopard St. called Corpus Christi Police after he discovered a building attached to the business had been broken into.

The manager told officers that he knew that the building was broken into on October 19 but he didn’t think anything was taken.  On that date, suspects twisted the dead bolt lock from the outside and gained entry through the two glass doors.

The manager was now reporting that during that break in 105 bundles of cables leads for a generator were taken.  The cable leads were kept in a large wooden box that was secured by a large chain and lock.  The items that were stolen were valued at $30,000.

Corpus Christi Police were called after a truck and trailer wore stolen by a man following a crash. Three men were attempting to back up a truck and trailer from a private drive in the 5100 block of Curtis Clark St. As they were backing up they collided with a 2002 Nissan Altima driving by on Curtis Clark St.

According to the three men, the male driver of the Nissan was attempting to drive away from the scene so they were forced to hold him down. The male managed to get free from the three men and he jumped into their truck and drove away.

As officers arrived and they were investigating this call, the 21 year old male who had left in the truck called from the Sam’s Club at Everhart Rd. and S. Padre Island Dr. wanting to speak to officers. Officers arrived and found the male with the truck and trailer that had been taken. He told officers that the three men immediately started to assault him after the crash so he fled the scene in their truck because he feared for his life.

After talking to all parties involved, officers decided not to arrest any of the individuals at this time, however all the claims will be investigated.
