Patrol Report July 1, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 236 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight June 30 to 7:00 a.m. on July 1, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

“Bravo” District

Offense: Possession of Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406300007
A Corpus Christi Police Officer observed a red Ford truck travelling west in the 1600 block of Tarleton St. The officer stopped the truck after observing it commit a traffic offense and contacted the driver Juan Sanchez (05/01/1992) and his two passengers. The officer found that no one in the vehicle had a drivers license. When the suspect was asked to step out of the vehicle, the officer found cocaine in a cigarette box that was in the suspect’s pocket. Officers also found a handgun in the front seat of the vehicle. Also found in the vehicle was a backpack containing two green bags containing a synthetic cannabis product. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carrying of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of synthetic marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. One of the passengers in the vehicle, Michael Rivera (04/29/1995), was found to have an outstanding warrant and was also arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a theft of a television from a business located in the 4100 block of S. Staples St. The male suspect was seen getting into a black SUV with his 8 year old son with the stolen property. After witnesses got the suspect vehicles license plate, officers went to the registered owners address located in the 1400 block of Seville St. and they contacted Elliott Campos (10/19/1982). He was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody. The suspect had prescription medication belonging to another in his wallet and he was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class A Misdemeanor. The stolen television was recovered and the suspect was also charged with theft, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Offense: Unauthorized Use Of a Motor Vehicle (PC 31.07 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406300089
A 53 year old business owner told Corpus Christi Police Officers that a customer’s car was stolen by a male dressed as a female while it was being repaired at his shop. The male suspect in his mid-twenties had on a red, white and blue halter top and his blond hair pulled back, walked up to the shop from the street, jumped in the car and drove off. A little more than an hour later an officer saw the stolen vehicle parked at a business in the 2000 block of Morgan Ave. Officers contacted George Anderson (02/17/1987) who fit the description of the male who stole the vehicle as he was getting back into it to leave. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the City Detention Center and the vehicle was returned to the shop.

A 78 year old male victim reported to Corpus Christi Police that he had stepped out of his red 2003 Saturn to deposit books at the Central Library located in the 800 block of Comanche St. While outside his vehicle, the victim was approached by a male suspect, medium build between 5`9″ – 5`10″ feet tall. The male suspect asked the victim for money and when he told him he had no money, the suspect pushed the victim aside and got into the driver’s seat of his car. As the suspect attempted to drive off, the victim got caught up in the vehicle and was dragged a short distance. CCFD EMS responded to the scene and the victim was treated and released. Officers are currently still investigating this crime, and have not located the suspect or the stolen vehicle.

Offense: Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 3200 block of Reid Dr. for an assault. Officers arrived and contacted a 26 year old female victim who said she was asleep and that her husband had just left the apartment to go to the store. While she was sleeping, a male suspect made entry into the apartment and put a knife to her throat. The victim’s husband then returned to the apartment and heard his wife screaming. A fight ensued and the suspect cut the husband twice on the arm and once in the face with the knife. The suspect took off in a blue four door passenger car. The female victim told officers that she knows the suspect and that he has been text messaging her some very threatening and demeaning messages. Officers went to the suspects home located in the 1200 block of Crescent St. and located the suspect Anthony Lyon (08/14/1964). He was arrested and charged with burglary of habitation with intent to do other felony crimes, a first degree felony, and aggravated assault, a second degree felony. Both victim’s were treated at the scene by CCFD EMS.

Offense: Robbery (PC 29.02 Second Degree Felony)

A 21 year old victim reported to Corpus Christi Police that while he was at the bus station in the 700 block of N. Chaparral St. he was robbed of his cell phone. The victim said he was waiting for the bus when a male approached him and asked if he could use his cell phone. After using the phone, the suspect put it in his pocket. The victim asked to have it back, and the suspect took off running. The victim took off running after him, and after chasing him for a little while the suspect turned and stopped and hit the victim several times in the face. The victim chased the suspect to a convenience store located at IH 37 and Water Street. There the victim was confronted by 3 other males that knew the suspect. The suspect got into a red four door passenger car with the males and fled the scene. Other officers responding to the call, observed the suspect vehicle traveling south on Ocean Dr. Officers stopped the vehicle near Ocean Dr. and Airline Rd. and the suspect Troy Finley (09/03/1992) was found inside and he was arrested and charged with robbery, a second degree felony.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery (PC 29.03 First Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery of a convenience store located in the 5600 block of Leopard Street. The 52 year old store clerk told officers that she was behind the counter of the store when a male suspect, that had a maroon mask over his head, charged into the store with a knife in his hand. The male then walked behind the counter and opened the cash register, grabbed cash and ran out the store. The suspect was described as 5`6″ to 5`7″, stocky male in his late twenties wearing a gray long sleeve shirt, blue pants and brown work boots. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Class B Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1406290188
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 7100 block of Premont Drive for a crash involving a truck that hit a tree. Officers contacted the driver, Audrie Roberts (06/14/1994) and found her to be intoxicated. The crash investigation revealed that the suspect driver was traveling south on Premont Dr., when she swerved her 2012 Toyota Truck to avoid an animal in the road and struck the tree. A 24 year old female passenger also in the front of the truck was not injured; however a 20 year old female riding in the back of the truck was taken to the hospital by CCFD EMS. The driver was not hurt as results of the crash and she was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Offense: Possession of Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406290128
A Corpus Christi Police Officer observed that an inspection sticker on a red Ford Mustang being driven in the 2500 block of Waldron Road was expired and stopped the vehicle. The driver was found to have a suspended Texas driver’s license and was taken into custody for the Class B Misdemeanor. Inside the car officers also found crystal methamphetamine wrapped in a plastic bag. Timothy Echols (04/10/1977) also charged with possession of a controlled substance a state jail felony and his vehicle was impounded.

Offense: Possession of Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406300024
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call at a business located in the 6700 block of S. Padre Island Dr. The caller advised that they saw a male and a female looking into vehicles in the parking lot and carrying a duffel bag. While officers were checking the area they observed a blue Ford Explorer leaving. Officers ran a check of that vehicle`s registration which showed it to be expired. Officers stopped the car, and made contact with the driver Matthew Rittgers (11/02/1987). The male suspect did not have a driver’s license, and he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Officers found a handgun, marijuana and methamphetamine in the car. Also in the vehicle center console area were two electronic scales, used to weigh narcotics. In the back seat of the vehicle a large wooden box that contained ammunition was found. The suspect was charged with theft of a fireman, because the handgun was found to be stolen and tampering with serial numbers because the serial number on the gun had been changed. Other charges included, unlawful carrying of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor, possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

Offense: Aggravated Assault (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home in the 2000 block of Hudson St. for a shooting. Once there, they contacted a 32 year old female victim who told them that she was driving west on the 2000 block of Gollihar Rd. in her 2010 red Chevrolet car when she saw a black Mercedes traveling east on Gollihar Rd. The victim told officers that she recognized the vehicle and driver to be Abel Rodriguez (01/28/1986). The victim stated one shot was fired at her vehicle, striking the driver’s door. She also felt something hit her in her stomach area. The suspect fled the area and the victim drove to her home on Hudson St. The victim was treated at the scene by CCFD EMS and released. Other officers in the area spotted the suspect vehicle on Airport Rd near Morgan Ave. Officers stopped the vehicle in the 3000 block of Braniff St. and took the suspect into custody, for Aggravated Assault, a Second Degree Felony.

Offense: Burglary with Intent to Commit Other Felony (PC 30.02 First Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1406290173
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to an apartment located in the 4800 block of Delwood St. for a stabbing. When the officers arrived they contacted a 35 year old male victim who reported that he had left his upstairs apartment for about 20 minutes and when he returned he found a male 6’0″ with a goatee and mustache upstairs holding some of his property. The victim confronted the suspect at which time the suspect took out a knife, and swung it at him several times striking the victim once in the abdomen. The suspect then fled out the back door. CCFD EMS responded and treated and released the victim at the scene. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Offense: Resisting Arrest (PC 38.03 Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a disturbance at a convenience store located in the 3200 block of S. Padre Island Dr. with the clerk and a customer. The 44 year old female store clerk told officers that a male was cursing and yelling at customers who were outside, so she went out the front door to tell him to leave. As she did Robert Jackson (10/03/1985) began to approach her and clicked a cigarette lighter in her face and then used both his hands to push her back. Another customer stepped in to help the store clerk until officers arrived. When officers arrived the suspect acted like he was going to strike one of them in the face. The suspect raised his hands and was trying to light a cigarette lighter in the officer’s face. After being warned to step back, he did the same thing again. Officers then began to arrest the male for Interference with Public Duties, a Class B Misdemeanor, during which time the male resisted arrest and began to fight with officers. Once taken into custody, the suspect was charged with the Assault on the store clerk, a Class C Misdemeanor, Interfering, and Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated With A Child Passenger (PC 49.045 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406270005
A Corpus Christi Police Officer was on patrol in the 6300 block of Holly Rd when he saw a black 2011 Nissan Frontier truck in the center lane that was not moving. The officer observed a male in the drivers seat was asleep with his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive with the engine on. The officer also saw there was a one year old female child in the back seat. The officer was able to go to the passenger side of the truck and put the vehicle into park. The driver, Jacob Duran (08/13/1986) was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested, and his vehicle was impounded. The child was released to a grandparent who came to the scene.

Corpus Christi Police contacted a 20 year old male victim that reported to them that his tan colored kayak and a Yeti cooler were stolen from a storage area located at his apartment complex. The victim said his kayak and cooler were chained to his boat trailer, which was located in the parking lot. The suspect gained entry into the complex and eventually the storage area and then was able to remove the chain and take possession of the victim’s property. At this time officers do not have any description of suspects involved.

Offense: Deadly Conduct (PC 22.05 Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to a business in the 4500 block of Everhart Rd. for a window that was shot out. A large glass window to the left of the entrance door of the business appeared to have been shot out by a firearm. Officers attempted to locate a bullet inside, but did not. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time of the incident. A store manager responded to the scene and was able to secure the business. Officers do not have any description of suspects at this time.

Offense: Theft (PC 31.03 Class B Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1406260139
A Loss Prevention Officer for a business located in the 4400 block of Kostoryz Rd. contacted police after she observed a female suspect Natalie Aguilar (09/27/1992) who looked suspicious due to the fact that she was grabbing groceries and merchandise at random and looking around to make sure no one was looking. The female suspect then walked by all cash registers with no intention to pay for the groceries and merchandise totaling over $130.00. She was detained until police arrived. Police found the suspect to also have an outstanding warrant for her arrest for contempt of court on another theft charge. The suspect was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center, and charged with theft, a class B misdemeanor, and the warrant of arrest.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class A Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1406270017
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 7400 block of S. Staples St. for a disturbance with a male customer inside a business. The call indicated that the person calling the police believed the customer was intoxicated. A person at the business was attempting to get the customer to call a cab but he was refusing and told them he was going to drive. The customer got into his tan Nissan Sentra sedan and was leaving. At that same time, officers were arriving at the scene and observed the vehicle exiting the parking lot turning north onto S. Staples Street. Officer stopped the car, and found Christopher Trevino (07/29/1985) was intoxicated, and he was arrested and charged with Driving While intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor, and his vehicle was impounded.

Offense: Burglary (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1406260116
Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a church in the 700 block of S. Upper Broadway for a burglary of a building. Officers contacted employees who told them that a male suspect came into the building through an open door. Once inside the suspect damaged another door to get into an area where he removed a television. The suspect then went into one of the classrooms where an employee was working and took his tools. A description of the suspect was broadcast to police units and he was located walking in the area of 800 Leopard St. The stolen items were not found, but the suspect, Jesse Villagomez (09/08/1976) was arrested for burglary, a state jail felony.

Offense: Possession of Controlled Substance Group 2 (HS481.1161 Class B Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1406260007

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was patrolling in the parking lot of a motel when he came across a stolen vehicle parked in front of one of the rooms. The stolen vehicle was parked in front of a room that was registered to a 28 year old male that had an outstanding warrant for burglary. When officers made contact with a person in the room, they did not locate the wanted male, but did find Rebecca Gonzalez (07/11/1990) in the room who also had several warrants out for her arrest. She was also found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The female was arrested for the outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Officers continue to look for the wanted male suspect who is still outstanding.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class B Misdemeanor)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer contacted Wallace Hill (10/25/1952) in the parking lot of a business located in the 6400 block of Weber Rd. after he ignored all the orange traffic cones that were in place to block off the parking lot entrance. The suspect ran over all the cones and drove his 1997 Dodge Dakota truck into the parking lot that had been closed for cleaning. Officers determined that the suspect was intoxicated and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and his vehicle was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to an aggravated robbery at a home in the 3000 block of Dante Dr. and contacted two 20 year old male victims who stated that they were both in the front bed room playing video games when they heard two large bangs at the back door and then saw two male suspects come into the house through the broken back door with guns in their hands. One male was about 5`9 tall, 200 pounds, tattoos on both arms, shaved head, wearing a black shirt, and black shorts. The other male was about 5`6 tall, 140 pounds, shaved head, wearing a white shirt, and blue jeans. After seeing the suspects with guns, the two victims closed the bed room door and locked it, then escaped from the house through a bed room window.

A 38 year old male victim contacted the Corpus Christi Police Department and advised them that he was walking to the corner store at Tarleton St. and Greenwood Dr. to buy cigarettes when he was assaulted and robbed. The victim suffered injuries to his head and face and he was transported to a hospital by CCFD EMS. The victim stated he did not know who or how many suspects were involved and could not provide a description of the suspects to officers.

Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

The Corpus Christi Police Department is working with the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office after a 24 year old female victim that is a mail carrier was delivering mail to the 4900 block of Kasper St. when she noticed that the suspect William Botello (05/12/1997) was pointing a handgun at her from his front porch. She feared for her safety so she ran to her postal vehicle and drove away from the area.

Law Enforcement officers from the three agencies responded and contacted the suspect, and two other males at the house. Once inside the home officers found the handgun that the suspect had pointed at the victim, as well as other weapons in the house. The suspect was arrested, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. The other males in the house were identified and released and are currently not facing any criminal charges.

Offense: Possession of Marijuana (HS 481.121 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Traffic Investigators responded to a major crash involving a RTA bus. The crash investigation revealed that Adan Rosales (08/15/1988) had run his 2003 Toyota Tundra truck into the back of a parked RTA bus while traveling west on Williams Dr. The RTA bus was stopped at the bus stop at the intersection of Williams Dr. and Button Ln. loading passengers when it was struck.

Inside the suspect’s vehicle officers found baggies containing marijuana, two scales, a firearm and a can of ammunition. After medical clearance at the hospital for his injuries from the crash, the suspect was booked at the City Detention Center. He was charged with possession of marijuana, a state jail felony, unlawful carrying of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

There were no serious injuries to any of the passengers on the RTA bus.

Offense: Driving While intoxicated (PC 490.4 Class B Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1406250014

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a crash and found a blue 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe flipped over in the grassy area next to the ditch and the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. A witness told officers that she helped a female out of the vehicle. The witness said that the female driver was then picked up by someone in a silver car before police arrived.

Inside the vehicle officers found a purse left behind with a driver’s license belonging to Justina Gravagne (04/05/1994). When other officers went to the address on the drivers license they were able to locate the female suspect and bring her back to the scene. The female suspect was found to be intoxicated and she was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor. The female was cleared at a hospital and then booked at the City Detention Center. Her vehicle was impounded, and she faces other traffic offenses related to the crash.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call for an assault with injuries at a home in the 1500 block of Eighteenth Street. When they arrived, they found a 42 year old male victim, lying on the sidewalk with severe head wounds. Prior to being transported by CCFD EMS to the hospital for treatment, the victims said he knew the suspects that had assaulted him. A witness told officers that she was arriving at the victim’s house when she saw him stumble out of the house. She then saw a male run from the house, striking the victim with a blunt object in the head. A second male suspect ran from the front area of the house and both suspects got into a silver or white Ford Truck. Investigators are currently working with the victim and witness to get a positive identification of the suspects involved.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call about a male hitting a female in the parking lot of a business located in the 600 block of S. Padre Island Drive. When officers arrived they found a 27 year old female being treated by CCFD EMS for serious injuries to her head and face. The victim stated that she was sitting in her vehicle in the drive thru line that circled around to the side of the business. The suspect was parked in a space that was being blocked by the victim’s car. The victim told officers that she saw the suspect get out of his truck and approach her vehicle and he began yelling about his truck being blocked in. He also began to bang on her vehicle window with his fist. When the victim exited her car she was punched in the face by the suspect. Robert Thomas (03/03/1957) was placed under arrest for aggravated assault, a second degree felony, his truck was impounded and the victim was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS.

Corpus Christi Police Officers received a call from a 17 year old female who was in a car traveling west on the freeway with some friends and they were being followed by her father who was threatening to kill her. Officers were able to intercept both vehicles on State Highway 358 near the Flour Bluff Drive exit. Officers contacted David Gonzalez (07/02/1968) who said that his daughter was in the car and that he was trying to get her and take her home. The suspect was found to have an active outstanding warrant and a suspended drivers license. Officers then contacted the driver and occupants of the other vehicle who said that they were confronted by the suspect while they were at a store on Padre Island. He made threats to kill them and they drove off because they were scared. While trying to get away from the suspect he attempted to drive his car into theirs and force them off the road. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony and making terroristic threats of family violence, a class B misdemeanor. Additionally he was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, a class C misdemeanor and the outstanding arrest warrant.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Cheryl Drive for a suspicious vehicle driving up and down the street with a flat tire. Officers arrived and found the 2006 Toyota 4 door car being operated by Justin Weddle (08/28/1978). Upon contact the officers found him to be intoxicated. When officers retrieved the suspect’s wallet to get his drivers license, they found it contained marijuana. The suspect was arrested and while being transported to the hospital in order for the officers to get a search warrant for a blood draw he spat several times at and on an officer. He also physically resisted several officers attempts to allow the blood search warrant to be executed. The suspect was charged with assault on a public servant, a third degree felony for spitting on the officer, resisting arrest and search, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, as well as driving while intoxicated, both class B misdemeanors.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home located in the 500 block of Clifford Street for a stabbing and contacted a 50 year old male victim who told them that he owns a business and that he sold the suspect, Johnny Heath (10/15/1977), two wind turbine generators two months ago. The victim further stated that since he sold the listed items, he had not received any payment from the suspect for the generators and he was there to retrieve the property. The victim said that the suspect allowed him into the home, but when they walked into the kitchen area, the suspect grabbed a steak knife from the counter and started stabbing the victim. The victim was able to run back outside for help and suffered only minor scratches and cuts. Officers located the suspect and he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer checking Palmetto Park in the 5400 block of Ocean Drive saw a 2001 white Suzuki car in the parking lot, violating the park curfew hours of 2:00 AM until 6:00 AM. The officer contacted the driver, Debra Fergus (04/04/1960), and found her in possession of a quantity of narcotics and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a third degree felony. She was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and violation of Park Curfew, both Class C Misdemeanors

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 5700 block of Curtiss Clark drive for a robbery. A 15 year old male victim told the officers that he was walking with a friend when they were approached by 4 or 5 male suspects. The victim was assaulted and his I-Pad was stolen. Witnesses reported that they saw one of the suspects, Robert Gutierrez (07/27/1996), go into one of the apartments. Officers obtained consent to go inside the apartment and while they were inside they noticed a hole in the ceiling leading to the attic that had fresh plaster on the floor below it. A ladder truck from CCFD responded to assist and the officers were able to locate the male suspect hiding in the corner in the attic space. He was arrested for the robbery, a second degree felony. Officers are working to identify the other suspects involved in this case.

Corpus Christi Police Officers patrolling in the 4300 block of Holly Road observed a silver Nissan Altima sedan, swerving and unable to maintain a single lane of travel. They observed the vehicle go into another lane and almost strike another car. The officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver Heather Russell (02/23/1984) and also found Russell`s 6 year old daughter seated in the back seat. After an investigation, officers determined that the female driver was intoxicated and she was arrested and her vehicle was impounded. The child was released to her father.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located in the 5100 block of Weber Road and contacted two male victims who told officers that an employee was causing a disturbance with other employees and customers at the business. When the 22 year old male suspect was confronted by one of the victims, who was the suspect’s supervisor, he directed his anger toward him and challenged his boss to a fight. The suspect produced a knife from his pants pocket and opened the blade pointing it at his boss. The suspect swung the opened blade several times before another employee was able to wrestle him to the ground. The suspect was able to get up and he lunged at both victims again with the opened blade coming within inches of cutting them. Both victims had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by the blade. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers later found the suspect, Luis Gomez (12/22/1991), walking north on Weber Road still wearing his blue work t-shirt. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.

Police Serve Search Warrant On Fire Creek Drive

The Corpus Christi Police SWAT team on behalf of the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Vice Investigations Division (NVID) served a search and arrest warrant at 5902 Fire Creek on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 7:00am.  The warrant was obtained as a result of an undercover investigations conducted by NVID regarding the trafficking of cocaine.  Seized as result of the warrant was 70g (agw) of powder cocaine, 17g (agw) hydro-marijuana, 5.9g (agw) Xanex bar, a package of synthetic marijuana, 2 digital scales, packaging material and a Honda 4 door vehicle.  Police arrested 24-year-old Guadalupe Garza (7/23/1989) and 31-year-old Arnold Flores (8/22/1982) for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and delivered to the City Detention Center.

The Corpus Christi Police Department will be conducting a Summer Crime Initiative for the 3rd consecutive year. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure the safety of all of our citizens as well as the tourists that visit our city during the summer months. In order to accomplish this goal the police department will be taking proactive steps that will include the Uniform Patrol Division, Narcotics Unit, Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Public Information Office, and Parking Enforcement Unit. In addition to officers from the CCPD we will work in conjunction with other law enforcement partners from our area.

The Summer Crime Initiative will run from June 21st through the Labor Day weekend. Traditionally, during this time frame, most school districts are out for the summer which has the potential to lead to a rise in juvenile crime, traffic related issues, and gang issues. The police department will work to combat any rise in crimes against persons and crimes against property. The listed units will conduct on-going operations that will target the following areas of concern:

  1. Juvenile crimes to include curfew violations
  2. Burglaries to include auto and home
  3. Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle
  4. Graffiti
  5. Gang related crimes
  6. Traffic related offenses
  7. Parole and probation checks
  8. Sex offender checks

The police department will work with the media via the Public Information Office to announce our initiatives and our efforts in working to keep all citizens safe. The PIO will utilize the print, television, and social media to ensure that citizens are aware of the efforts of the department as well as public service projects that will be available.

Uniform Patrol Division

    The Uniform Patrol Division which includes the Traffic Unit will work to be pro-active during this initiative. The Uniform Patrol Division will also staff a temporary Padre Island sub-station. The purpose of this sub-station will be to provide an opportunity for all citizens and tourists to receive information, get directions, purchase beach parking stickers, have a police report written, and to have additional public service events available. The Police Athletic League will also work with young citizens to provide activities that are conducive to a safe and peaceful summer. The Patrol Division will focus on the following areas:

Man Steals Clothes From Store, Now Sought by Police

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a person accused of theft from a store located at 5425 South Padre Island Drive. Loss prevention employees made the complaint to the Corpus Christi Police of the series of thefts and provided images of the suspect who stole men’s clothing on June 3, 7, and 12. The employees told Officers they believe the same man conducted each of the thefts and described the suspect as a 20-year-old man with light-colored skin, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 160 pounds.
