Police Investigate 5th Fatal Vehicle Crash of 2017

A 35-year-old man died a little after 1am this morning after he was struck by a vehicle on the 900 block of Texan Trail.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a vehicle crash on Texan Trail and discovered a 35-year-old man in the road. Witnesses told Officers the 35-year-old man was in the crosswalk on the 900 block of Texan when a vehicle struck the man, and carried him approximately 200 feet before stopping. Witnesses told Officers the driver got out, looked at the 35-year-old man, got back into his car and fled the scene. The 35-year-old man died on scene. Several witnesses provided a good description of the suspect vehicle and the driver. An Officer walked around Buccaneer Apartments and located the suspect vehicle, and shortly afterward, located Noe Garza (5/27/1960) who Officers believe is the driver .

Officers arrested Garza for Intoxicated Manslaughter and for Accident Involving Injury or Death for leaving the scene of the crash without providing aid. Officers impounded the vehicle and delivered Garza to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this woman who damaged a vehicle. The female in the video went up to the residence and began banging on the front door and yelling. The female is seen going up to a black Ford Mustang and started scratching the paint on the left side of the vehicle, the trunk and the hood. The suspect then left the scene.

The suspect vehicle, which has a fifth wheel hitch, backs up to a dumpster style trailer. The suspects exit the vehicle and connect to the trailer and leave the property. The Dodge Ram pickup has an after market front and rear bumper.

Police K9 Discovers 6 Pounds of Marijuana

Corpus Christi Police arrested 31 year old Rodney Eulenfeld (12/25/1985) for possession of 6 pounds of marijuana after the contraband was discovered on a traffic stop yesterday afternoon.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at the 7800 block of Jim Wells Drive near Oso Parkway in the area of Yorktown and Staples at 1:35pm Wednesday afternoon. The Officer conducted a traffic stop of a 2006 black Jeep Commander for the driver using the cell phone while driving. The Officer had his K9, Tanja, on the traffic stop and had the dog conduct a search of the exterior of the vehicle. The dog, Tanja, indicated there was contraband in the Jeep, which led the Officer to discover 6 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $30,000 dollars.

The Officer arrested the driver, Rodney Eulenfeld for Possession of Marijuana. The Officer seized the marijuana as evidence, impounded the vehicle, and delivered Eulenfeld to the city detention center. Possession of Marijuana in the amount of 5 pounds to 50 pounds is a 3rd Degree Felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Offense: Assault Family Violence, Interfering with 911 Call

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 4400 Cedar Pass in reference to a disturbance in progress. Officers were flagged down by a neighbor who advised them they witnessed a male dragging a screaming female into an apartment. Officers went to the apartment and observed a purse and a cellphone on the ground in front of the door. Officers knocked and heard something hitting the floor followed by silence. Officers knocked again and heard something hit the floor and again it was followed by silence. Due to the totality of the circumstances officers forced their way into the apartment.

Officers were met by the 21 year old male suspect who was quickly detained. Offices located the 22 year old female victim in the back bedroom. The victim was visibly shaken and covering her face with a blanket. When officers moved the blanket from her face they observed severe bruising to her face, her left eye was swollen shut and she had redness to her neck. The victim advised they were coming from a friends house when they began arguing. The victim at some point tried to leave. The suspect pulled the victim from the car catching her jacket I the door. The victim became upset and started hitting the car. The suspect grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground and began choking her in an effort to keep her from screaming. The victim is not sure when it happened but she was struck several times in the face. The victim advised that she tried to call 911 in an effort to calm the suspect. The suspect took her phone and did not allow her to call for help.

The victim advised that this is not the first time she has been assaulted but it was the worst. The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries. Officers arrested Kameron William Handy (02-03-1995) for assault family violence and interfering with a 911 call. Kameron was transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to The Harbor Bridge Northbound in reference to a accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found 89 year old Evan McDonald deceased in the right lane of the roadway. It appeared that Evan had been ran over. A 24 year old female driver stopped at the Exxon at Burleson and stated she ran over the victim. Officers are trying to determine if the victim collapsed or fell over the barricade. It is still an ongoing investigation. This is the 3rd fatality accident for the year.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Cimarron and Lipes in reference to a back up for an officer. The officer advised that a silver Dodge Ram pickup was trying to ram the patrol unit. Back up officers arrived and observed the suspect vehicle driving erratically and trying to ram the patrol unit. Officers activated the emergency lights and siren in an effort to stop the truck. The officer had to accelerate numerous times in order to not be rammed or sideswiped by the suspect vehicle. The officers continued to chase the suspect vehicle until it ran off the road and onto the sidewalk at Staples and Williams. Officers contacted and arrested Armand L. Boyd (09-06-1981).  The victim officer was ok but was in fear of being injured by the suspect due to his actions. The suspect was transported to the City Detention Center.

 

 

Yeti Cooler Thieves

Police need your help identifying these two suspects. They were seen entering Academy Sporting Goods. The suspects walked to the back and took 4 Yeti coolers valued over $1200. The suspects tried to exit through a back door of the business. The suspects set off a door alarm and were confronted by an employee. The suspects dropped the coolers and fled on foot.

Corpus Christi Police arrested three people for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon while Officers conducted a driver license checkpoint Sunday night at Carroll Lane and Gollihar Road. The checkpoints are set up by direction of a shift supervisor when the call volume is low and operated by strict guidelines which include a specified pattern to stop vehicle (for example, every fourth vehicle that passes through).

Officers stopped a 2003 Dodge Ram truck at the intersection of Gollihar and Carroll Lane during this checkpoint and the Officers noticed the vehicle had a strong odor of burnt marijuana from the interior of the vehicle. The occupants, driver Gabriel Antonio Garcia 09/23/1998 (Convicted Felon), front seat passenger, Rene Rodriguez 12/02/1984 (Convicted Felon), and backseat passenger, Johnnie Ortiz 11/13/1993 (Convicted Felon) were removed from the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. An Officer conducted a search and located a loaded revolver in a hidden compartment under the cup holder, a pack of synthetic marijuana and a loaded Taurus handgun where Johnnie Ortiz was sitting. The Officers arrested all three men for Unlawful Possession Firearm by Felon. Johnnie Ortiz was also charge with possession of substance PG 2-A and Nueces County warrant for possession of dangerous drugs. The drugs, guns, and money were tagged and placed into the Corpus Christi Police property room as evidence. The guns were not reported as stolen.

Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash of an all terrain vehicle in which two children under age ten were injured.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash at the 3400 block of Brawner Parkway and learned that a 21 year old man rode around the ditch area on a 4-wheel All Terrain Vehicle with his 5 year old daughter and 7 year old brother in-law with no protective equipment. Officers believe the 21 year old man attempted a tight turn which caused the ATV to roll and throw the children off the vehicle. The Corpus Christi Fire Department Medics told Officers the 7 year old boy may have suffered a left broken leg and then transported the child to Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Both children had numerous scrapes on their elbows, shoulders and face but Officers believe the injuries were non-life threatening. Officers noted in their report the ATV had warnings on the machine for no passengers and no one under the age of 10.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 28 year old Norberto Lozano (9/22/1988) for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop Monday morning at the 1500 block of Ormond.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a green Honda Civic at 3:39am for an inoperable driver side brake light. The Officer noticed an odor of marijuana from the vehicle and removed the driver, Norberto Lozano, who was the only occupant. The Officer found a small black tin box with what the Officer believes is black tar heroine and compressed white pills inside the vehicle while he attempted to locate the origin of the marijuana order. The Officer believed the pills looked like Xanax  but noticed the pills did not have the numerical markings.  The Officer conducted some field tests on the pills and believes the pills are compressed cocaine.

The Officer arrested Lozano for two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in penalty group one, both are felony accusations. The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Lozano to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating several hit and run crashes on Shoreline Boulevard Sunday night which Officers believe are caused by the same vehicle operator.

Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash where Officers believe a Blue Ford Mustang pulled into 601 Shoreline and hit a parked vehicle. Officers reported the Mustang then exited 600 Shoreline and attempted to flee the scene when the Mustang struck a black Jeep on the 700 block of Shoreline. Witnesses told Officers the Mustang fled again before it was located stopped in the middle of the road at the 1100 block of South Shoreline. The Officers found the front passenger was passed out and the driver had fled. The passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Officers impounded the blue Mustang which had extensive damage to the front and rear of the vehicle. The Officers have not located the driver of the vehicle, but believe they know his identity. No other injuries were reported.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 2600 Bevcrest in reference to a disturbance in progress. Information on the call advised that the driver of a blue Scion was threatening to shoot the house. Information also stated that the suspect involved had an active warrant and was in possession of a firearm. Officers arrived and observed a blue Scion leave the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Bevcrest and Beardmore.

Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle and the passenger. Neither subject had an ID on them. While officers were talking with the subjects they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver identified himself as Christopher Moreland and was removed from the vehicle. Due to the nature of the call the driver was checked for weapons and found to have a knife and a empty pistol holster in his waistband. Officers then removed the passenger from the vehicle and discovered that he was sitting on a loaded semi automatic pistol. Both suspects were detained while officers investigated. Officers checked the drivers information and found it was obvious that he was not the person he claimed to be. The driver gave his true name and date of birth (Richard Moreland 7-6-1992) and was found to have an active warrant out of  Austin Pardon and Parole. He was arrested for the warrant and failure to identify as a fugitive. Upon searching the vehicle officers located Marijuana, over 70 packaged pills, a substance believed to heroin, a white substance believed to cocaine, a digital scale and packaging material. Officers arrested Richard Moreland (7-6-1992) and Jacob Rivera (1-31-1998) and transported them to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3002 Antelope in reference to a disturbance in progress. A officer was nearby clearing form another call and could hear females yelling and cursing. As officers arrived the female suspect was yelling for the other person to give her money. The suspect was asked several times to calm down and wait by the patrol car. The suspect ignored the officer and began yelling again. The officer again tried to calm the suspect down and escort her from the area. The suspect began to pull away, swing her arms and push the officer. The officer arrested Amber Jean Silvestry (12-28-1983) for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Amber was transported to the City Detention Center. While at The City Detention Center a female guard located a pill inside her waistband of her pants. Amber did not have any type of prescription in her possession. She was additionally charged with possession of a dangerous drug.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Police Search for Bank Robber at Kostoryz and Holly

Corpus Christi Police are searching for a man accused of robbing the bank at the corner of Holly and Kostoryz Friday afternoon.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for the bank robbery at 2pm Friday in which a man took money by force. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Bank employees told Officers that an unknown man walked into the bank with black pants, a red hoodie, and a black ski mask on his head. Employees told Officers that the man went to the teller and demanded cash. Employees told Officers the man did not see a weapon, but the man made them believe he had a weapon. Employees told Officers the man took the money and ran out the door and left the area in an unknown direction. There were several customers in the bank at the time of the robbery, but no injuries were reported.

Police are now searching the area to locate the man and would like help from the public to identify and locate the man responsible for this robbery.
