The Fourth of July holiday often leads to an increase in the number of Driving While Intoxicated arrests made by the Corpus Christi Police Department.
We want everyone to enjoy the festivities of the Fourth of July holiday and ask that you act responsibly by not drinking and driving in our city. All drivers should avoid the risk of arrest, incarceration or tragedy that is associated with driving while intoxicated. In an effort to assist law enforcement agencies in the investigation of suspected intoxicated drivers, the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office will provide a trained phlebotomist at the City of Corpus Christi Detention Center from 10pm to 4am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
The Corpus Christi Police Department remains a “no refusal” agency all of the time. However during this holiday period, when a trained phlebotomist is at the CDC, our officers will not have to take suspects to the hospital in order to get a blood sample. This will make the DWI investigation more efficient and will get our officers back on the street much quicker.
The Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers has the statistical report for the second quarter for 2015 to provide to the public.
There have been 1,167 calls to Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers in 2015 which have resulted in 69 arrests and $28,800 dollars in rewards approved. There have been 49 fugitives apprehended as a result of Crime Stoppers tips in Corpus Christi. There have been $1,000 dollars worth of property recovered, and $1,580 dollars worth of narcotics seized because of tips from the public to the Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers.
Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization operated by volunteers in the community to provide information to Police about unsolved crimes. Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers guarantees that anyone who calls Crime Stoppers will remain completely anonymous for their protection, so the caller will never be known to the criminal, never be compelled to appear in court, and not be subject to investigation. Crime Stoppers offers rewards to overcome the challenge of apathy and as a tool to provide incentive for those who are not willing to communicate with law enforcement. The rewards and operating expenses are entirely from donations and no tax dollars go toward the Crime Stoppers program.

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 92 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Police Vehicle Impound Lot, located at 5485 Greenwood Drive, on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 10:00 am.
The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday, July 3. The general public can continue to view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.
The vehicles for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of two suspects that they believe stole computer equipment from the New York Life business, located at 5350 South Staples Street, on June 15 at about 3 PM.
Employees at the business told Officers that the suspect with the red cap walks into the office, while the suspect with the blue cap is watching from outside. The suspect with the red cap enters a hallway storage room inside of the office. He is then seen a short time later walking out with two cases, one in each hand. The two large silver metal cases each contained a laptop computer, a printer, a web camera, and a finger printing kit. They are worth $5000. The suspect in the blue cap leaves the area following the male in the red cap.
Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the security camera system that shows both males enter the office front doors. They were both wearing white t-shirts, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
The suspects in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying these individuals. Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect that they believe stole several power tools from three different Home Depot Stores in Corpus Christi.
The first theft occurred on June 19 at about 12:45 PM at the Home Depot located at 5041 South Padre Island Drive. Employees told Corpus Christi Police that a man walked into the store and removed a Makita Drill and bit set valued at $279. The man walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise.

The second theft occurred on June 20 at about 2:55 PM at the Home Depot located at 4038 South Port Avenue. Employees told Corpus Christi Police that a man walked into the store and removed a Milwaukee brand hammer and impact combination kit valued at $798. The man walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise.

The third theft occurred on June 22 at 3 PM at the Home Depot located at 13202 Leopard Street. Employees told Corpus Christi Police that a man walked into the store and removed a Milwaukee drill kit valued at $399. The man walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise.

When Detectives reviewed surveillance video they determined that all three thefts appear to be committed by the same suspect. The suspect is a Hispanic male, between 40 and 50 years of age. He was wearing a light colored long sleeve button down shirt, blue jeans and light colored tennis shoes in all three thefts. He is seen with a cap on in the theft that occurred on Leopard Street.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a man they believe stole over $500 worth of merchandise from the Wal-Mart Store located at 3829 Interstate Highway 69 on June 12.
Store employees observed the man placing a variety of meats into his grocery cart along with an air conditioning unit. He then pays for a candy bar and a soda but does not pay for the meat and the A/C unit. He then pushes the cart out of the store, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.
The suspect in this case has not been identified, and detectives need your help in solving this crime. The suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male and he was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans.

The Corpus Christi Police Department will begin to conduct a Summer Crime Initiative for the 4th consecutive year this Sunday. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure the safety of our community and the tourists who visit our city during the summer months. In order to accomplish this goal, the police department will take proactive steps that will include the Uniform Patrol Division, Narcotics Unit, Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Public Information Office, and Parking Enforcement Unit. In addition to officers from the CCPD we will work in conjunction with other law enforcement partners from our area.
The Summer Crime Initiative will run from June 21st through the Labor Day weekend. Traditionally, during this time frame, most school districts are out for the summer which has the potential to lead to a rise in juvenile crime, traffic related issues, and gang issues. The police department will work to combat any rise in crimes against persons and crimes against property. The listed units will conduct on-going operations that will target the following areas of concern:
Juvenile crimes to include curfew violations
Burglaries to include auto and home
Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle
Graffiti
Gang related crimes
Traffic related offenses
Parole and probation checks
Sex offender checks
Bar checks
The police department will work with the media via the Public Information Office to announce our initiatives and our efforts in working to keep all citizens safe. The PIO will utilize the print, television, and social media to ensure that citizens are aware of the efforts of the department as well as public service projects that will be available.

The Uniform Patrol Division which includes the Traffic Unit will work to be pro-active during this initiative. Patrol supervisors will look to capture data and statistics that will assist in allocating resources and deploying them in an effective manner. The Uniform Patrol Division will also staff a temporary Padre Island sub-station. The purpose of this sub-station will be to provide an opportunity for all citizens and tourists to receive information, get directions, purchase beach parking stickers, have a police report written, and to have additional public service events available. The Police Athletic League will also work with young citizens to provide activities that are conducive to a safe and peaceful summer. The Patrol Division will focus on the following areas:
Curfew violations
Underage drinking
Driver’s license and insurance checkpoints
Burglary patrols driven by up to date crime statistics
Bar Checks
Beach Patrols
Open a temporary island sub-station to service visitors and residents
Graffiti Patrols and clean up efforts

The Narcotics Unit will look to improve the quality of life in the area that surrounds the uptown neighborhood and business district. They will conduct narcotic investigations and prostitution stings in an effort to reduce crime and the perception of crime.
Criminal Investigations Division
Auto theft will conduct bait operations during the summer targeting auto burglars.
CID will also target high profile registered sex offenders in the city to ensure that they are in compliance with all laws and conditions of probation and registration.
Gang Unit
The Gang Unit will look to reduce crime committed by gang members by ensuring that all gangs that are currently on the injunction list are in compliance with the conditions of the order. In addition to these efforts the Gang Unit will also look to impact gang crimes by:
Conducting bar inspections at locations frequented by gang members
Targeting specific neighborhoods in response to increased gang activity
Compliance checks on gang members that are registered sex offenders
React operations due to major gang related offenses

Offense: Robbery **UPDATE***
Case Number: 1506070105 Raymond Cuellar (03/16/1994), who was wanted on two separate arrest warrants, turned himself into his probation officer this morning. Detectives had issued a warrant for him after he robbed a 21 year old man that he lured into playing basketball with him at a park in the 500 block of King Street back on June 7th. He assaulted the man and stole his car.
The suspect had a previous arrest warrant out for his arrest for an aggravated assault that occurred on May 31, 2015.
