On September 16, 2013, shortly after midnight, Patrol Officers arrested Daniel Pineda (04/15/83) after he was found to be wanted.  During the arrest, Officers also found Marijuana and Cocaine inside the residence.

Officers with the Narcotics and Vice Investigations Division were called to assist and a search warrant was served on the residence.

The search of the residence netted a seizure of a cookie of Crack Cocaine which weighed 35.81 grams, four grams of powder Cocaine, three grams of Marijuana, along a quantity of Xanax bars and assorted pills.  Also seized were a firearm, a scale, and $1,242 in cash.  The Crack Cocaine has a street value of $1,800 while the powder Cocaine is valued at $200.

DanielPinedaDaniel Pineda was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana along with a Nueces County warrant for Failure to Appear on a Driving While License Invalid Charge.  Pineda was also charged with two outstanding Municipal Court warrants for No Driver’s License ($254) and Driving While License Invalid ($529.83).

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in using the victim’s stolen credit card at several businesses in Corpus Christi, College Station, and Houston.

CCPD and CCFD to Host 9/11Remembrance Ceremony

Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson and Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha would like to extend an invitation to the community with a special invite to members of the police, fire, and EMS departments to attend our annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the terrorist attacks.

On Wednesday, 9/11/2013, the Police Department, along with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, will co-host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Sherrill Park in the 100 block of South Shoreline and Kinney Street. The ceremony will commence promptly at 9:30 a.m. and will include the CCFD Pipe & Drum Corps and the CCPD Color Guard & Rifle Team. The featured speaker will be CCFD Captain Lee Rogers who, with a Task Force, assisted in the recovery in New York.

68A Inspections cancelled for September 11, 2013

In observance of the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony being held on Wednesday, September 11th, the Corpus Christi Auto Theft Division will be unavailable to conduct 68A inspections at the City Impound lot.

68A inspections will resume on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 9:00am to 10:00am at the CCPD vehicle impound lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive.

Identity of Robber Sought

Police were called to the convenience store for an armed robbery in which the store clerk was stabbed. The two employees reported the robber walked into the store and took an undetermined amount of money, stabbing one of them in arm. The clerk was taken to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years of age, standing 5’5″ to 5’7″ feet tall, and weighing 140 to 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing an orange “Texas Longhorns” t-shirt and blue jean shorts.

9-11 5K Run Honoring South Texas First Responders

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, the second annual Patriot 5K Fun Run & Walk will take place in memory of the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001.  The event honors all of those who are first to respond in times of emergency, including all present and past members of the Armed Forces, Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics, Sheriff’s Deputies, Department of Public Safety Troopers, Constable’s Officers, State and Federal Officers, Crime Scene Investigators and Dispatchers.

The event will begin with a patriotic ceremony at 7:00 a.m. at Sherrill Park, with the Corpus Christi Veterans Band and the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas.  The 5K course will take place along the sea wall with a loop around the People Street T-Head and a turnaround in front of the bayfront.  Afterwards, participants can tour different law enforcement exhibits and awards for best running times in different age categories will be handed out.

The run will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. at Sherrill Park, 222 S. Shoreline Drive.  The event is free to all active and retired first responders and members of the Armed Forces.  Kids 12 and under will cost $10, while adult non-first responders will cost $25.  Everyone will receive a t-shirt and a bib number for finish line timing, as quantities are availability.  Race day registration will take place from 6:30 a.m. until 7:15 a.m.  Participants may also go online to www.vfitproductions.com to register or to print out entry forms.

Missing 45-year-old Man Found

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank the public and the media’s assistance in helping locate Esequiel Ramos who had been reported missing by his sister on Wednesday, September 4th.

Help needed to find missing man

EsequielRamosCorpus Christi Police Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help locate 45-year-old Esequiel Ramos who was reported missing by his sister.  Esequiel was last seen at 2:00pm on September 4, 2013 when he left to go visit a neighbor.

Esequiel is disabled and suffers from several medical conditions and does not have his medication with him.  Anyone with any information on his whereabouts are asked to call police at 361-886-2600 or Detective R. L. Garcia at 361-886-2850.

After Labor Day Auction

The C.C.P.D.’s commitment to “Keep Corpus Christi Safe” has continued with its “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative”

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, a total of 88 cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be auctioned at the Corpus Christi Police Department Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive during our monthly auction. The site has four paved acres for an auction lot.

Approximately 27 of these vehicles are “No Insurance” impounds. On Friday, September 6, 2013, the general public will be allowed to register and view the vehicles to be auctioned from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no registration fee.

On the day of the auction, the general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The auction will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. on September 7, 2013.   The vehicles to be auctioned can be viewed at www.siskauction.com. An auction list may also be downloaded from the same website.

The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization.

During August 2013, Officers issued 553 citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and impounded 102 vehicles for the same charge.

Three Men Arrested During Traffic Stop; Kilo of Cocaine Seized

On September 4, 2013, Narcotics/Vice Investigation Division Officers were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing investigation.  During the course of their surveillance the NVID Officers had a vehicle pulled over a vehicle with the assistance of the Gang Unit.

The vehicle stop resulted in the seizure of 1040.66 grams (approximately 1 kilogram) of powder cocaine with a street value of $32,000.  Jimmy Lee Bazaldua (10/11/84), Hector Lee Pinon Jr. (12/30/92), and Joshua Cano (07/19/91) were arrested and booked at th City Detention Center.  All three were charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
