Target and the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit are hosting a Trunk or Treat this Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5pm-7pm, at the Target parking lot (5425 S. Padre Island Drive). There will be face painting, costume contest, music, door prizes and safety awareness. Stop by Thursday!
On October 5, 2024, at about 6:31 AM officers were dispatched to the area of Holly Rd. and Flynn Parkway in reference to a major vehicle crash. Updates stated there was a bicycle or moped under a vehicle that was leaving the scene and causing sparks.
Officers arrived in the area and located a black SUV that was involved at the corner store at Holly Rd and Everhart Rd. A damaged moped was still under the SUV. The store was east of the crash location.
Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle. The driver showed signs of intoxication.
Officers checked the area of Holly Rd and Flynn Parkway and located the moped operator who had been struck. The 58-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation the driver of the black SUV was placed under arrest for Intoxication Assault w/vehicle (causes serious bodily injury).
The driver, 42-year-old Corri Ortiz, was then transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. She was then taken to the City Detention Center for booking.

Join the Corpus Christi Police Department for the 41st annual “National Night Out, Kick-Off celebration”, a drug and crime prevention event celebrated annually in our city. It’s a night for Texas to stand together to strengthen police-community partnerships and to promote awareness, safety, and unity in our neighborhoods.
The Corpus Christi Police Department are encouraging citizens to celebrate National Night Out by organizing neighborhood events such as block parties and cookouts. Citizens can also participate by simply turning on porch lights between 6pm and 9pm.
Chief Markle and all Command Staff will kick-off National Night Out with the ceremonial “lighting of the porch light.” The community and media are welcome to attend at the parking lot of Academy Sports & Outdoor Store at 5001 S. Padre Island Drive from 4pm to 6pm.

This male suspect recently broke into several business offices in a downtown building after working hours. He was caught on security video.

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:21am, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the 7000 block of Wooldridge Road.
When officers arrived, they found that a white passenger car had struck an electric pole, snapping the pole, and the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The front seat passenger, a 21-year-old male, was able to exit the vehicle but the driver, an unknown male, was unable to exit the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries on scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators with the Traffic Unit arrived on scene to investigate the crash. They found that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound through the intersection through a green light. It is unknown, other than the high rate of speed, what caused the vehicle to lose control and crash into the pole.
UPDATE: On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 3:15pm, detectives secured a murder warrant for 20-year-old Saniel Sanchez Jr., bond amount $1,000,000. The warrant was served at the Nueces County Jail, where Sanchez was being held on an unrelated warrant.
ORIGINAL POST: On Friday, September 27, 2024, at 4:19pm, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Devon Drive in reference to a shooting with injuries.
Officers and medics arrived on scene and located a deceased 24-year-old male who had suffered a gunshot wound.
Preliminary information shows a disturbance occurred between the victim and another male when a firearm was produced and the victim was shot. Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide unit are on scene, beginning their investigation. Detectives do not believe this to be a random act of violence as all parties are known to each other and there is no immediate threat to the community.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 11:16am, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Airline Road in reference to a child locked in a vehicle.
Officers arrived and spoke to a witness who advised they located a black SUV parked in the parking lot, with the engine running. The witness told officers they looked inside the vehicle and observed a toddler in the back seat and there were no adults inside or around the vehicle. Another involved person was able to locate the mother inside of a nearby store.
Officers spoke to the mother, 26-year-old Marilyn Savage, who admitted to leaving her toddler inside of the car while she went inside of the store.
Due to the fact that Savage intentionally left her toddler inside of the vehicle, alone, putting the toddler in a situation where the toddler could be in imminent danger, Savage was arrested for Abandonment with Intent to Return. She was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.
CCPD Detectives need your assistance in identifying this theft suspect. This male was caught on security camera taking someone’s personal property at a local store earlier this month.
