PANAMA DR. DRUG ARRESTS

On August 27, 2025, at 5:39 pm, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of Panama Dr in reference to a Drug Possession call.

Officers arrived along with assistance from Narcotics Vice Investigation Divisions (NVID). It was determined that the residents did have access to weapons. It was also confirmed that a 19-year-old female was inside of the location and had an active Warrant of Arrest.

Officers successfully called out the female, as well as an 18-year-old male, after a lengthy period of time.

Both the male and female were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG3, and Possession of Marijuana. The female was additionally charged with a Warrant of Arrest.  

Items Seized:

•           1.7 pounds of Marijuana

•           175 THC Vape pens

•           4.33 grams of Alprazolam pills

•           1.6 grams of THC wax

•           2- 5.56mm rifle pistols

•           $6,971 in U.S. Currency

SHOOTING ON AYERS ST.

On August 20, 2025, at 6:16 pm, Corpus Christi Police Officers were flagged down at the intersection of Ayers St. and Arlington Dr. in reference to a shooting.

Officers were told by an injured victim, a male exited a nearby store and shot at him. The male suspect then walked across Ayers St. As Officers were speaking to the victim, they could hear shots being fired from across the street.

Officers went across the street and observed a male carrying a handgun. Officers gave the male commands to which he complied. The male was taken into custody without incident.

Two victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation several victims and witnesses were contacted.

Officers were able to determine the male suspect was previously involved in a disturbance with someone, when he walked out of the store and began to fire his weapon recklessly.

Ernesto Mondragon Jr. (33YOA) was ultimately arrested and charged with 9 counts of Aggravated Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

MAKE THAT TWO MORE

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 1:34 am, VCU Officers observed a truck traveling at speeds near 100 mph west bound on HWY 358. The truck exited the highway and continued driving aggressively and recklessly, continuing to disregard the speed limit.

The truck was stopped and the driver taken into custody. The driver, Roy Blaker (21), was arrested for Reckless Driving. He was additionally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Later that morning, Officers observed a vehicle disregard a stop sign at an intersection on Shoreline Blvd. and accelerated at a high-speed causing the tires to squeal, thus attracting attention to themselves.

The vehicle continued to drive aggressively down Shoreline Blvd. cutting in and out of traffic on the roadway.

The vehicle attempted to park and hide once they observed Officers behind them.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

The driver, Elijah Garcia (23), was arrested for Reckless Driving and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Two passengers in the vehicle were released.

THE WEEKENDS NOT OVER YET

The Violent Crime Units continues traffic enforcement.

On August 6, 2025, Officers observed Joe Davis (20) driving recklessly through the intersection of Ennis Joslin Rd. and SPID. Davis caught Officers’ attention as he raced through the intersection intentionally revving his engine excessively and completely disregarding the safety of other motorists on the roadway.

Davis was stopped and arrested. He was charged with reckless driving and additionally charged for unlawful carrying of a weapon when a gun was located on him.

On August 6, 2025, Officers observed a vehicle traveling at almost 100 mph east bound in the 4400 block of HWY 358. The vehicle carelessly passed other motorists on the roadway.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was arrested for reckless driving. The driver, Justyn Cleland (19), was additionally charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon when a gun was located in the vehicle.

Later that evening on August 7, 2025, Officers observed a vehicle traveling at approximately 129 mph in the 4100 block of HWY 358 east bound. Well above the posted speed limit.

Officers stopped the vehicle and took the driver, Ramon Rendon (20) into custody for reckless driving. A passenger in the vehicle, John Anthony Cavazos (18) was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

On August 8, Officers observed a motorcycle traveling well over 100 mph on HWY 358 e/b. The motorcycle was also observed splitting lanes several times.

Officers were able to stop the motorcycle and arrest the operator (AGAIN). Hannah Huffman (27) was arrested for reckless driving.

On August 9, at approximately 12:47 am, Officers observed a white SUV traveling east bound in the 5500 block of HWY 358, at speeds of 100 mph.

The vehicle was observed carelessly changing lanes and did not slow down.

Officers were able to stop the SUV and take the driver into custody. The driver, Anthony Valdez (22), was arrested and charged with reckless driving.

Later that evening Officers observed 2 vehicles racing each other in the 4700 block HWY 358 west bound. The two vehicles were traveling well over 100 mph, and it was obvious they were attempting to outperform one another, as they accelerated through traffic.

One vehicle exited the highway as the other accelerated west bound. Officers were able to stop the driver of the vehicle that exited and safely place him into custody.

The river, Jose Padron (24) was arrested and charged with Racing on a Highway.

All vehicles involved were impounded.

These selfish individuals displayed a willful and wanton disregard for the safety of themselves and other motorists on the roadway.

UPDATE: SHOOTING AT 5400 SPID

UPDATE: Officers arrested 25-year-old Benjamin Lopez for Aggravated Assault w/ a deadly weapon, in connection to this shooting. Both parties were known to each other.

Lopez was transported to the City Detention center for booking.

The victims’ (32YOA) injuries were non-life threatening.

This is still an ongoing investigation.

ORIGINAL: On August 7, 2025, at 9:00 pm Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of South Padre Island Dr. (SPID) in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located and detained the suspect involved. Officers also began to administer aid to the male victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Preliminary investigation shows an argument broke out between two males and one shot the other.

Officers are on scene continuing the investigation. There are no active threats.  

16-Year-Old Apprehended for Beauvais Shooting

A sixteen-year-old male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting that injured two people Saturday evening on the 7800 block of Beauvais Drive. Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division conducted an intensive investigation into the shooting, which occurred during a large teen party at a residence on that block.

The investigation revealed that the sixteen-year-old suspect was in the backyard of the residence when he attempted to rob a nineteen-year-old man of his gold chain. When the victim refused to surrender the chain, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot the victim twice, once in the chest and once in the back. A sixteen-year-old male bystander was struck in the ankle by a stray round. The nineteen-year-old victim remains hospitalized, while the sixteen-year-old victim was treated and released. Detectives worked diligently, following multiple leads that eventually resulted in the identification of the sixteen-year-old Corpus Christi teenage boy as the shooter.

Once identified, Detectives discovered that the suspect was already wanted on a Directive to Apprehend (DTA) for Violation of Juvenile Probation on previous charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. CCPD Gang Unit officers began searching for the suspect and tracked him to Victoria, Texas. This information was shared with the Victoria Police Department and on Monday August 4th, the Victoria Police Highway Interdiction Team located and apprehended the juvenile, who was subsequently returned to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center on Tuesday, August 5th. Detectives have submitted their case file to Juvenile Prosecutors for the additional charges of Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

This case is still an active investigation and further arrests are possible. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Criminal Investigation Division at (361) 826-2840. Kayak Call

On August 6, 2025 at 8:30 am, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to 5100 Hull Dr. in reference to a Missing Person.

When Officers arrived, Officers learned that a 63-year-old male went kayaking on August 5, 2025, around 6 pm and had not returned. Multiple agencies responded to assist due to the low water levels in the area.

The US Coast Guard located a kayak, but it was later determined that it was unrelated. The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Drone Unit located a second kayak. Around 12:00 pm, a body was located by the Corpus Christi Fire Department. The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Search and Recovery Dive Team was dispatched to the location to recover the body.

At this time, there is no foul play suspected.  The investigation is being handled by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  

UPDATE: Shooting at 7800 Beauvais Dr

UPDATE:  Through a coordinated investigation, Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, and Officers with the Gang Unit were able to positively identify the offender and secured a Directive to Apprehend.

Based on intel gathered and shared by Gang Unit Officers and Detectives, the juvenile offender was located and arrested in Victoria, Texas on August 4, 2025, by the Victoria Police Department Highway Interdiction Team (HIT).

ORIGINAL: On August 2, 2025 at 11:45 pm, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 7800 block of Beauvais Dr in reference to a shooting. 

When officers arrived, they located a 19 year old victim with gun shot wounds and began administering first aid. Medics arrived and transported the male to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later determined to be stable.

A short time later, a second juvenile victim arrived at a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a disturbance occurred and a firearm was produced by the suspect, during a large party consisting of several juveniles.

This is an isolated incident and Detectives believe the parties are known to each other. No arrests have been made at this time.

The homeowners who were at the location during the incident, were cited for Purchase/Furnish Alcohol to a Minor.

Commercial Fire- 5900 SPID

On July 29, 2025 at 5:39 pm, Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of SPID in reference to a commercial fire.

After officers arrived, they found a male with life threatening injuries. The male was transported by medics to a local hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is actively being investigated by an Arson Investigator with Corpus Christi Fire Department.
