Corpus Christi Police Arrest Two People for Narcotics Trafficking

Narcotics/Vace Investigators seized over 19 grams of powdered heroin, over 24 grams of black tar heroin as well as over one gram of crack cocaine, gold jewelry, over $700 in cash and a 2005 Ford Explorer Thursday afternoon.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics/Vice Investigators arrested a man and a woman at 1530 Airline for Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 Thursday afternoon.

The arrests were the culmination of a lengthy investigation into heroin dealing in the Corpus Christi.  Jesse Garza (5-23-95) was found to be in possession of over 19 grams of powdered heroin upon his arrest.  Erica Martinez (6-1-95), whose vehicle they were in to make the delivery, was found to be in possession of over 24 grams of black tar heroin as well as over one gram of crack cocaine.  Estimated street value of the drugs seized was $1650.00.  The division seized over $700 in cash and a 2005 Ford Explorer.  Investigators also seized the gold jewelry worn by the suspect, as it was believed to have been purchased with illegal proceeds.

Police Obtain Warrant For Animal Cruelty Related to Video on Social Media

Corpus Christi Police Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of 35-year-old Herman Lee Wright Jr. (10/5/1980) Thursday for cruelty to an animal after a video circulated this week on social media.

Corpus Christi Police received a complaint of animal cruelty at a home on the 5300 block of Gateridge Drive on December 8, 2015. Detectives gathered witnesses and recorded information on December 9, then obtained a warrant for Wright’s arrest on December 10, 2015 from the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2.

The Corpus Christi Police Department appreciates the passion from the public for proper treatment of animals and thanks everyone for their patience while the evidence and facts were collected properly and carefully recorded to prepare for court presentation.

Credit Card Thief Identified By Crime Stoppers Tips

A man accused of using stolen credit cards was identified by tips through Crime Stoppers and arrested yesterday.

Robert Noriega had two arrest warrants issued for him, related to the use of stolen credit cards taken from two separate burglaries in the Del Mar neighborhood, was located at his place of employment in the 900 block of Louisiana Parkway.

One of the arrest warrants issued for the suspect was for using a credit card taken during a residential burglary in the 1800 block of Ocean Drive.  The second warrant was issued after the man used a stolen credit card taken during an auto burglary in the 300 block of Atlantic Street.

Officers located the wanted person, Robert Louis Noriega (08/12/1983), and he was arrested for the two outstanding warrants that were issued on December 8 and each hold a $15,000 bond amount.

Detectives thank the public who provided tips to Crime Stoppers to identify this man. Those who provided information should call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS to check the status of their tips because the first person who provided the information will be paid a cash reward.

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who is suspected of shooting a 31-year-old man in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 3955 South Padre Island Drive at 2:45am on December 5, 2015.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 2:45am on December 5th, 2015 at a convenience store located at Weber and South padre Island Drive. The Officers learned a large group gathered at the convenience store parking lot and several fights erupted. Officers learned that during the confrontations, a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers obtained video surveillance of the event and believe there is an image of a man in a red shirt and black pants and white shoes who rushes up to the 31-year-old man, discharges a pistol, then runs away. Officers believe the 31-year-old man was laid on his back on the ground while a vehicle obstructs the view of the 31-year-old man. Officers believe the 31-year-old man was beaten by several people who kept him on the ground until the shooter rushed up and discharged the pistol.

Arrest Warrants Issued For Man After Officer Is Assaulted

Arrest warrants have been issued for a suspect after he fled the scene of a traffic stop in a car dragging a Corpus Christi Police Officer.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have identified Gilbert Trevino (12/16/1993) as the suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle and four arrest warrants in connection to this case were obtained December 2. Each warrant has a bond of $25,000 and were issued by Justice of the Peace Henry Santana. The charges include assault on an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and resisting arrest, all felony offenses.

On November 29 an Officer stopped a 2003 Nissan Altima sedan in the 1100 block of Seventh Street for going the wrong way on Santa Fe Street. Once the Officer stopped the car, he asked the 21 year old driver to step out of the vehicle. Once the driver was out, another passenger in the car, believed to be Gilbert Trevino, attempted to run from the scene on foot.  The Officer got into a struggle with the man and he then ran back to the vehicle got into the driver’s seat and took off, dragging the officer with them.

The suspect crashed into two parked cars on Seventh Street and continued on still dragging the Officer.  The Officer was then able to break free and fell from the car.

The suspect vehicle continued until it crashed into a fence several blocks away at Buford and 16th Streets and the suspect took off running and was not located.

The Officer was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

At this time, the suspect is not in custody and remains at large.

Man Arrested For Dumping Tires

Corpus Christi Police have arrested a man they believe dumped more than forty tires behind a business located in the 2700 block of Morgan Avenue on March 4.

Officers arrived after an employee of the business called to report that he had video evidence of someone dumping tires behind Bonilla Plaza.

Officers were able to view the video and they saw a man exit a white truck that had pulled behind the business. The suspect is seen pulling several tires out of the bed of his truck and unloading them in the alley.  The suspect then leaves after he empties the bed of his truck.

After an investigation, Officers determined that the tires came from a shop in the 3200 block of Baldwin Boulevard. The owner of the shop told Officers he had hired a man to dispose of the tires.

Officers were able to identify the suspect, Jose Carrillo (05/06/1964), and an arrest warrant was issued for him on December 1 by Judge Joe Benavides. The suspect was located at a home in the 1200 of Elgin Street later that same day.

The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to warn suspects that we are using social media, surveillance cameras and targeted patrols to stop this type of illegal dumping.  If anyone witnesses tire dumping, please call police immediately.

No Trailer Inspections This Wednesday

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force will NOT be doing 68a Trailer Inspections at the impound lot on November 25 due to the upcoming holidays.   

The next scheduled inspections will occur on Wednesday, December 2 at 9 AM at the Impound Yard located at 5485 Greenwood Drive.

 

Two Arrest Warrants Issued After Shooting At PMI

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have issued two arrest warrants for a man and a women they believe were involved in a shooting at the PMI Store, located in the 4900 block of Greenwood Drive, on November 7. 

The two arrest warrants, obtained yesterday, are for Jonathan Martinez (12/30/1988) for aggravated assault. The warrant has a bond amount of $50,000. The other wanted person is Destiny Tovar (08/13/1992). She is also wanted for aggravated assault. The warrant for her has a bond amount of $20,000

On Saturday, November 7 just before 11 AM, a 53 year old man was shot in the upper right leg as he stood outside the PMI Store after two females go into a disturbance with each other.

Words were exchanged between the female driver of a silver vehicle, believed to be Tovar, and a 23 year old female driver of a white Nissan in the parking lot. Two men that were inside the store came running out to assist their female friend in the white Nissan and when one of the males approached Tovar’s car, Jonathan Martinez, a passenger inside, opened fire.

Several shots were fired from the silver vehicle, and one of the bullets struck the victim who was near the pay phone.   He was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS. The store was struck twice by bullets and the carwash next door was also hit.

At this time, the neither suspect is in custody and both remain at large.

Wanted Female Located In Robstown

A women who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant in connection to an injury to a disabled person case that occurred at a home in the 2500 block of Hulbirt Street on November 10  was arrested by Robstown Police on Tuesday.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives had obtained an arrest warrant on November 12 for Chriscelda Villafranco (01/16/1987) for injury to an elderly person, a second degree felony.

Detectives believe she was the primary caregiver charged with the wellbeing of a 57 year old disabled and bed ridden female that was found living in uninhabitable conditions.
