Auto Theft Task Force Seeks Help From the Public

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify the person responsible for stealing a trailer from a storage lot at 15122 Northwest Boulevard on Sunday, February 9, 2014.

Detectives with the Auto Theft Task Force have obtained video of the truck used in the crime and hope tips from the public will identify the person responsible. The truck is described as a silver single cab pickup truck which went to the lot at about 11:30 p.m. on that day. The trailer was recovered in Robstown the next day, but contents of the trailer were missing. The contents of the trailer were standard construction tools.

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify a woman responsible for several acts of shoplifting at Walgreens stores. Store management complained to Detectives that the woman fills up a shopping basket and then leaves the store without paying. The store management said the woman has used a gold car to leave in each case.

The woman is described as a woman in her late 20’s in age, has medium brown skin, orange hair, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds and has worn an oversized black shirt, black gym shorts with red trim, and house shoes. The Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify a man who stole lottery tickets from a store located at 3201 South Padre Island Drive on January 31, 2014. Detectives have video images of the man and his vehicle. A 21-year-old man generated the complaint after a man went through the store at 4:00am and went into the back store room and then stole the lottery tickets. The tickets were not activated, so they have no real value. The man then left in a silver four door sedan. The man is described as a male with medium brown skin, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 220 pounds, with dark hair, full beard, and wore a black t-shirt with white writing, blue jean shorts, and white tennis shoes.

Body Found Near Port of Corpus Christi Identified

UPDATE 2.25.2014 3:48 p.m. The body that was located near the Harbor Bridge has been identified as Missing Person, Sean Yates. The Medical Examiner is currently conducting an autopsy for cause of death.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Bureau is asking the public’s assistance in locating 35-year-old Sean Yates  who was reported missing on January 30, 2014.  Yates was last seen at 902 Airport Road and is in need of his medication.

Sean was last seen wearing a grey shirt, dark jeans and white tennis shoes. He is 5′ 5″ tall and weighs 154 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He is non-aggressive, likes flashing lights and police officers.

Officer Involved Shooting

UPDATE: 2.25.2014 The Public Information Office was informed that Brian Robles was transported to the CDC on Monday 2.24.2014 @ 4:27 p.m. He was booked on charges of:

Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon
Burglary of a Habitation
Evading Arrest w/Vehicle
Murder – Capital (Attempted)
Warrant of Arrest

On Monday 2/17/2014 calls to 911 came in for a carjacking near the Bay Vista Apartments where a dually pickup had been taken. The suspect was described to have displayed a weapon during the incident. The suspect then left the area.

At 12:40 pm calls to 911 indicated that there was a man with a gun trying to break into vehicles at a hotel located at 4414 Surfside. Callers told dispatchers that they could hear the gunshots. At the same time calls were coming in that the suspect was getting into a red Nissan vehicle and leaving the scene towards Portland.

Officers observed the vehicle heading towards Portland and began a vehicle pursuit. Officers with Portland PD assisted in the pursuit that took place on SH 181 northbound and southbound. The suspect exited and then entered the highway in an attempt to elude Officers. At 12:54 Officers advised that the vehicle had stopped near the Buddy Ganem exit in Portland. The suspect displayed a handgun towards the Officers, and the Officers returned gunfire striking the suspect several times.

The suspect was detained and then treated by EMS personnel from Portland. He was taken to Spohn MMC and was taken into surgery. At last note he did not have any life threatening injuries. None of the Officers involved were injured.

The suspect in the incident is Brian Allen Robles 11-14-1983. Detectives are investigating Robles for cases involving Evading Arrest, Aggravated Assault and Attempted Capital Murder.

The Corpus Christi Police Officers involved are Lieutenant Mark Tuley a 14 year veteran, Sr. Officer Jesse Cruz a 12 year veteran and Sr. Officer Tony Gonzalez an 11 year veteran. They have been placed on Administrative Leave per Departmental Procedure. Portland PD will release the name of the Officers involved from their agency.

Police Investigate Shooting That Kills Two Children

The Corpus Christi Police are investigating the death of two children on the 4700 block of Cheryl Drive Sunday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a shooting at 11:19 p.m. and discovered a 2 year old girl and a 6 year old child had suffered injuries which the Officers believe to be gunshot wounds. The children were taken to the hospital, but died as a result of their injuries.

Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to gather information and evidence. The Corpus Christi Police Gang Unit responded to assist with the investigation as a resource, although the event has no current conclusive evidence whether or not it is related to gang activity. No suspects have been arrested and Detectives are working to develop a description of the person responsible for the two deaths.

a. Detectives have indicated that they are looking into the possibility of more than one shooter based on the number of rounds fired.
b. The family was gathered at the home because they were attending a birthday party.
c. The two victims were related and are thought to be cousins.

Police Investigate Homicide on Martin Luther King Drive

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a murder that happened on the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Drive at 7:08pm Wednesday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting and found a 43-year-old man on the ground with gunshot wounds. The 43-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but did not survive his injuries. Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives arrived on the scene to gather information and evidence.

Responding Officers searched for a silver or gray Chevy Lumina four door vehicle that witnesses said may have been involved in this case. Detectives continue to gather information to establish a suspect description.

UPDATE: Detectives have obtained information from witnesses and evidence that the shooter was not in the vehicle and would have been walking. The shooter then got into the four door Chevy and left the scene. It is not a random shooting as the victim may have known the shooter. Detectives continue to search for the shooter and the suspect vehicle that has been described as a Chevrolet four door vehicle, either silver or grey in color with a spoiler.

City’s First Homicide of 2014

Police and Fire were called to the Embassy Suites Hotel for a fight involving injuries.  When Officers arrived they began CPR on a 31-year-old man. CCFD Emergency Personnel transported the man to Doctor’s Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Detectives were called to investigate. Christopher Garza (10/22/1982) was arrested and booked into the City Detention Center.  Detectives continue to investigate the case.

Police Want Help From The Public to Catch Robber

The Corpus Christi Police and the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office are asking for help from the public to locate a fugitive. Police seek 33-year-old Connie Coleman (12/2/1979) who has an active warrant for her arrest for an aggravated robbery which happened July 21, 2013 in Corpus Christi.

Coleman is described as a female with light-colored skin, black hair, brown eyes, and stands about 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs about 120 pounds. Coleman has a tattoo on her lower back that reads, “Feed Me” and a tattoo on her right arm that reads, “Randy” and “Ariel.” Coleman’s last known address was at the 9000 block of Leopard Street in Corpus Christi.

Suspect in C.A.S.A. Burglary Arrested

AndrewLeoPenaCorpus Christi Police were called to CASA of the Coastal Bend for an alarm call at 1:35 a.m. on January 27, 2014.  Officers discovered a window had been smashed open.  A canine officer was called and “Indy” along with Officers cleared the building.  At the time, entry was not gained into the building.

Later that morning, at 8:11 a.m., police returned to CASA when it was discovered to have been burglarized.  CASA personnel reported the building had been ransacked with computer and electronic equipment taken.

On January 28, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. police were dispatched to the 2400 block Cloyde for a report of found property.  The homeowner told police she observed a woman’s wallet and a couple of prescription bottles.  She then called the owner of the wallet and learned the items had been stolen in the CASA burglary.  Officers were able to recover a Lenovo Think Pad, Apple Super Drive, Nikon camera, cell phone, and assorted toys taken in the burglary.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. police were again called to the residence for a disturbance.  Officers located a suspect possibly involved in the CASA burglary.  Andrew Leo Pena (08/30/92) was arrested and charged with Motion to Revoke Probation on a Burglary charge.

On January 29, 2014, Detective G. Shipley was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Pena in the CASA burglary.  Pena was additionally charged with Burglary of a Building.  His bond was set at $10,000.
