Arson Suspect Arrested

MetroCom Dispatch received a call for a fire at 2610 Dempsey. Initial calls came in that it was an abandoned home. Witnesses then began calling 911 stating that a Black male was seen running from the location just prior to the fire. Fire crews arrived and began to fight the blaze.

Working off witness descriptions, of the man running from the home, Officers located Anthony Daquan Randle (11.8.1988) in the 3500 block of Leopard and detained him. He was taken to the Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division for an interview by CCFD Arson investigators and then arrested for Arson.

CCFD Arson investigators will continue to work on the investigation.

Investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force are asking for your help in identifying this individual who they believe is responsible for an auto burglary in the early morning hours of September 2 on the 100 blk. of Atlantic St.

The individual is described as a white male medium to large build, wearing a tan ball cap and black t-shirt.

Man Falls Asleep at ATM

The MetroCom Dispatch Center received a call for a man who was sleeping in his vehicle near the ATM at Bonilla Plaza. Officers arrived and made contact with Alfred Garcia (12.4.1970). He was checked for warrants and found to have two for Larceny (Nueces Co) and a Municipal Court warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Wanted Subject Walking the Walk

While on patrol, officers saw and recognized Ashley Silva 7/9/1988, as having an outstanding warrant for her arrest of Abandon/Endangering a Child.

When officers contacted Ashley to place her under arrest they located two small baggies in her possession, which contained a white powdery substance believed to be a Controlled Substance. Therefore, she was additionally charged.

Arson Suspected in Residential Fire

Occurred on 10/02/11, 11:06 a.m.  Arson   1322 Stillman     1110020072

Officers, along with CCFD firefighters, responded to a house fire at 1322 Stillman.  The vacant house was fully engulfed and the firemen were unable to save the home, but they did keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. 

A witness told Officers he observed three Hispanic juveniles running eastbound on Hulbirt away from the burning house.  They were last seen southbound on 1400 Peabody Street.

The juveniles are described as fourteen to sixteen years of age with one wearing a white t-shirt, while the other two were last seen wearing black t-shirts.

Thief Arrested When Found Hiding Under Home

Occurred on 9/29/11, 5:29 p.m  Theft & Evading Arrest   702 N. Chaparral     1109290104

Officers responded to the Greyhound Bus Station and contacted employees who reported a Black male had stolen money from the cash register.  An employee told Officers he stepped away from the counter area when he heard the cash register close.  The male fled from the business. 

While en route, an Officer observed the suspect running across I.H. 37 from the downtown area.   An attempt was made to contact the male, but he refused to stop for the Officer and fled toward the Solomon Coles Education Building. 

The Officer chased the male until he was apprehended in the 900 block of Waco where he was found hiding underneath a residence.  Maury Eugene Robinson (04/14/83) was ordered out from underneath the home. 

Robinson crawled out, but Officers observed him removing the stolen money from short pocket and leaving it behind.  Officers recovered the money and transported Robinson to the bus station where he was positively identified and arrested.

Robinson was charged with Theft and Evading Arrest Detention.  The money was returned to Greyhound Bus Station employees.

Crockett Elementary Vandalized

Officers responded to Crockett Elementary for graffiti in progress call. CCISD maintenance personnel reported observing several juveniles on the roof of a portable building.

The juveniles left the area, but shortly thereafter he found two of the school’s portable buildings had been vandalized and several gallon bottles of soap were left behind.

Grandson Uninvited Visit to Grandma’s House Lands Him in Jail

Occurred on 9/27/11, 2:14 p.m. Burglary of a Residence 600 Elesa/700 Francesca 1109270067 & 1109270068

Officers responding to a burglary in progress contacted the witness who reported he observed a Hispanic male standing outside of his elderly neighbor’s house. He stopped and questioned the male who told him he was waiting for his friend who was inside the residence.

Further investigation revealed Javier Lopez Jr. (02/06/70) was burglarizing his 82-year-old grandmother’s house with his friend acting as the lookout. Officers checked the residence and chased Lopez, who fled out a window.

Officers found Lopez in the 700 block of Francesca where he gained entry to hide from police. The 35-year-old homeowner told Officers the suspect ran into her home and told her to be quiet. The Officers found Lopez hiding in a bedroom acting as if he was asleep. Lopez was arrested when he was positively identified by the victim and the witness.

Lopez was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Residence along with an outstanding Parole Violation warrant. He was additionally charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice when he lied to Officers about his name. Neither the homeowner nor her two sons were injured during the burglary.

Quarrel Ends When One Person Stabbed

Occurred on 9/27/11, 10:45 p.m.  Aggravated Assault   1500 Ramirez 11092701161 

Officers responded to the residence and contacted a 58–year-old victim who reported his girlfriend of a several years had stabbed him during an argument.  The victim told Officers Cora Lee Williams (04/05/58) became angry and stabbed him with a knife. 

The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial with a small laceration to his abdomen. 

Williams was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Missing Ditchwitch Underground Locator

Occurred 9.26/27.2011/10:00am Burglary to a Vehicle Aaron Dr./ Bratton Rd. 1109270045

Detectives with the Auto Theft Task Force are investigating an auto burglary that occurred sometime overnight on Monday Sept. 26 & Tuesday morning Sept. 27. The thieves broke into a tool box of a company vehicle and stole a Ditchwitch Underground Locator valued at $6000 as well as several specific type wrenches valued at $1000.
